Selection of informative features out of ever growing results of high throughput biological experiments requires specialized feature selection algorithms. One of such methods is the Monte Carlo Feature Selection - a straightforward, yet computationally expensive one. In this technical paper we present architecture and performance of a development version of our distributed implementation of this algorithm, designed to run in multiprocessor as well as multihost computing environments, and potentially controllable through a web browser by non-IT staff. As a simple enhancement, our method is able to produce statistically interpretable output by means of permutation testing. Tested on reference Golub et al. leukemia data, as well as on our own dataset of almost 2 million features, it has shown nearly linear speedup when executed with an increased amount of processors. Being platform independent, as well as open for extensions, this application could become a valuable tool for researchers facing the challenge of ill-defined high dimensional feature selection problems. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2016.

The paper presents a planing problem for an assistant manipulator capable of passing objects to user. Moreover, the presented planning problem is solved and implemented with use of STRIPS notation, modifying an Elementary Block World environment. The presented problem is written in form of operations and predicates and solved with use of graph representation and heuristic function. The planning problem has the ability of fast expansion, thus the use of heuristics showed the huge possibility of problem reduction. With use of algorithm implementation, a model of assistant robot manipulator has been created and it can be used to prove the possibilities of real world application with real robotic arm manipulator.

Aims. We present a campaign designed to train the GRANDMA network and its infrastructure to follow up on transient alerts and detect their early afterglows. In preparation for O4 II campaign, we focused on GRB alerts as they are expected to be an electromagnetic counterpart of gravitational-wave events. Our goal was to improve our response to the alerts and start prompt observations as soon as possible to better prepare the GRANDMA network for the fourth observational run of LIGO-Virgo-Kagra (which started at the end of May 2023), and future missions such as SM. Methods. To receive, manage and send out observational plans to our partner telescopes we set up dedicated infrastructure and a rota of follow-up adcates were organized to guarantee round-the-clock assistance to our telescope teams. To ensure a great number of observations, we focused on Swift GRBs whose localization errors were generally smaller than the GRANDMA telescopes' field of view. This allowed us to bypass the transient identification process and focus on the reaction time and efficiency of the network. Results. During'Ready for O4 II', 11 Swift/INTEGRAL GRB triggers were selected, nine fields had been observed, and three afterglows were detected (GRB 220403B, GRB 220427A, GRB 220514A), with 17 GRANDMA telescopes and 17 amateur astronomers from the citizen science project Kilonova-Catcher. Here we highlight the GRB 220427A analysis where our long-term follow-up of the host galaxy allowed us to obtain a photometric redshift of z = 0.82 ± 0.09, its lightcurve elution, fit the decay slope of the afterglows, and study the properties of the host galaxy. Conclusions. During this 8-week-long GRB follow-up campaign, we successfully fulfilled our goal of training telescope teams for O4 and the improvement of the associated technical toolkits. Modem mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, are offering a wide range of entertainment applications that require an increasing amount of computational and storage resources. To address such needs, developers transfer the load from the mobiles to remote resources, usually in a Cloud infrastructure. The focus of our work is to find policies for balancing the load between devices and remote resources using offloading techniques. We apply these techniques on a popular artificial intelligence intensive mobile game, OpenTTD and seek to reduce the server-side load by leveraging the devices computing capabilities.

This paper presents the way of modeling thrust generated by a quadrotor flying unit. The highly non-linear equations describing rotor thrust are derived with use of momentum theory and approximated with use of generalized polynomial. The article includes the model formulation and the example of approximation. The polynomial approximation ensures the simplicity in solving during simulation with sufficient accuracy.

Physicians as the most important tool in the diagnosis of acute and chronic heart conditions leverage the Electrocardiogram (ECG) data. The huge volume of data that needs to be gathered;processed as well as transmitted burdens the communication channel by obstructing the implementation of the ECG applications in telemedicine and remote monitoring scenarios. This has triggered the need for computationally efficient and advanced compression methods permitting the reconstruction of the destination's original signal. This paper focuses on proposing a highly efficient compression method relying on both run length coding (RLC) and fast lifting wavelet transform (FLWT) for both 1 and 2 dimensional ECG data. The basic wavelets that had been used are Daubechies (Db4);Cohen-Daubechies-Feauveau (CDF 2.2) and Haar. The algorithm that has been proposed is deployed as well as tested on different ECH data signals that stem from an open MIT-BIH arrhythmia database. It has been seen that Db4 offers greater performance via lower error and greater compression ratio when opposed to the other wavelets stated here. © 2016 IEEE.

This paper addresses the problem of automatic control of the blood pressure in post cardiac surgery patients. The focus of this study is on showing that reinforcement learning may be suitable for the blood pressure regulation in post cardiac surgery patients, using directly the clinical data, without the need of an accurate patient model. A detailed and realistic model of a hypertensive patient is successfully developed and implemented. Firstly, we use this model in order to create closed loop control with a classical PID controller. Secondly, we use the model only as a source of pseudo-clinical data with reinforcement learning.

In this paper, a short survey of recent results in the field of approximate controllability of nonlinear stochastic fractional order systems is studied. For the analysed classes of stochastic systems the methodology applied to obtain sufficient controllability conditions is discussed. Paper concentrates on a class of stochastic systems that are referred to as infinite dimensional since their evolution in time is considered in infinite dimensional function spaces.

Performing complex activities that accompany piloting an airplane requires a lot of concentration, coordination and reflex from the pilots. Additionally, the responsibility that lies on a person that controls any kind of flying platform can lead to the increased amount of pressure and stress. Considering all of the aforementioned conditions, it is essential to provide a system capable of evaluating and monitoring of pilot's alertness and mental fatigue during different phases of flight. Such solution can potentially drastically improve the efficiency of flight operating staff, which may lead to the increase in the overall flight safety. In this study we attempt to propose the statistical measures allowing to evaluate mental parameters of airplane pilots during the simulated flight sessions. Thanks to that, a flight aiding solution can be proposed, which would be capable of monitoring and alerting of any potentially dangerous cases of pilot's decreased concentration or increased weariness. Additionally, the specific requirements of different flight phases could be taken into consideration. The electroencephalography (EEG) is one of the most popular technologies used for the recording and monitoring of brain bioelectrical activity. Such activity can then be properly processed and used for the task of statistical description of mental states required for this research. For experiment presented in this article, the Emotiv EPOC+ Scientific Contextual EEG devices were used. Such apparatus provides 14 EEG channels positioned with the accordance to the standard 10-20 electrode placement system. Very important features of the EPOC+ headsets are their portability and ease of montage which are critical in this study. In the research a group of 5 people, with no or little previous experience with flight simulators, participated in an approximately 3 hour long session each. In the paper finite-dimensional stationary dynamical control systems described by linear stochastic ordinary differential state equations with single point delay in the control are considered. Using notations, theorems and methods taken directly from deterministic controllability problems, necessary and sufficient conditions for different kinds of stochastic relative controllability are formulated and proved. It will be proved that under suitable assumptions relative controllability of a deterministic linear associated dynamical system is equivalent to stochastic relative exact controllability and stochastic relative approximate controllability of the original linear stochastic dynamical system.
