ATM multicasting using the multicast address resolution server (MARS) and multicasting server (MCS) has been presented as an efficient scheme for supporting IP multicast over ATM. On the other hand, Internet TV, distance learning, and file distribution are emerging large-scale multicast applications in which only a single source has to deliver data to all hosts participating in the multicast group. We introduce a new scheme for electing MCSs among all hosts in the network to minimize both the end-to-end path delay and the overall load across the network for single source applications. We introduce a new measure of the overall load which is determined by calculating the number of packets' copies multiplied by the number of hops done to complete the transmission of one packet from the sender to all members in the multicast group.

This paper is on the digital control of a continuous-time non-linear system by observer-based state feedback. Some discrete-time observer and controller are built online at each sample time according to the linear approximation of the system about the current estimation point. When system parameters vary rapidly with time the weighted least squares filters are not capable of following the changes satisfactorily - some more elaborate estimation schemes, based on the method of basis functions, have to be used instead. The basis function estimators have increased tracking capabilities but are computationally very demanding. The paper introduces a new class of adaptive filters, based on the concept of post filtering, which have improved parameter tracking capabilities, typical of the basis function algorithms, but at the same time, have rather low computational requirements, typical of the weighted least squares algorithms.

The criteria for classification of averaging impact tubes are introduced (the art of measuring of reference pressure, the construction of the primary device, the number of ports and their displacement, the way of taking of total pressure). and some technical solutions are presented. Mathematical model of averaging impact tube is introduced and the correction factor is derivated. This factor takes into account the fact, that the output signal from differential pressure transducer is proportional to the average of dynamic pressures (velocities in second power) but the flow-rate is proportional to the average of velocities. Author introduced proposal of independent pressures measurement and calculating velocities in front of these ports in purpose of estimating of velocity distribution and than calculating flow-rate analytically.
