In [7] the concept of Bohl dichotomy is introduced which is a notion of hyperbolicity for linear nonautonomous difference equations that is weaker than the classical concept of exponential dichotomy. In the class of systems with bounded invertible coefficient matrices which have bounded inverses, we study the relation between the set BD of systems with Bohl dichotomy and the set ED of systems with exponential dichotomy. It can be easily seen from the definition of Bohl dichotomy that ED ⊆ BD. Using a counterexample we show that the closure of ED is not contained in BD. The main result of this paper is the characterization int BD = ED. The proof uses upper triangular normal forms of systems which are dynamically equivalent and utilizes a diagonal argument to choose subsequences of perturbations each of which is constructed with the Millionshikov Rotation Method. Spectra based on Bohl exponents and Bohl dichotomy for nonautonomous difference equations

For nonautonomous linear difference equations with bounded coefficients on N which have a bounded inverse, we introduce two different notions of spectra and discuss their relation to the well-known exponential dichotomy spectrum. The first new spectral notion is called Bohl spectrum and is based on an extended notion of the concept of Bohl exponents. The second new spectral notion is called Bohl dichotomy spectrum and is based on a relaxed version of exponential dichotomy called Bohl dichotomy. We prove spectral theorems and show that the Bohl dichotomy spectrum is the closure of the Bohl spectrum and also a subset of the exponential dichotomy spectrum. We discuss the spectra of upper triangular systems and how they relate to the spectra of their diagonal entries. The area of feature selection methods constantly expands along with the development of artificial intelligence domain, and has great impact on almost every field, whenever data is processed and explored. The paper presents research where a ranking method was proposed, inspired by an approach which comes from an algorithm for induction of decision rules. The ranking procedure was based on calculation of standard deviation for attributes, taking into account assigned class labels. This method was compared with another ranking mechanism, a modified version of popular Relief algorithm, with incorporating characteristics of variables by supervised discretisation. Comparison of obtained results included the aspect of knowledge representation as well as the perspective of the accuracy for constructed rule-based classifiers. The experiments were performed on datasets from stylometry domain, where authorship attribution was considered as a classification task, and stylometric descriptors as characteristic features defining writing styles of authors. © 2022 The Authors. With the recent advancements in drone technology, there has been an increase in the development of human detection and tracking techniques for various applications, especially near borders. In this research, we propose methods to enhance people detection performance in diverse outdoor scenarios. Our dataset design includes a wide range of lighting and color changes, different target distances, angles, and postures. The experimental data consists of images taken in various environmental situations, such as changing the drone’s flight height and capturing pictures in intensive light. To evaluate the performance of our proposed method, we enhanced the generic YOLOv5 model using the gathered data, and calculated key performance indicators, including loss functions, recall, accuracy, and mAP50. We compared the performance of our enhanced model against the standard YOLOv5 model and its versions on the same testing set.

This article presents the problem of designing a nonlinear observer for an active magnetic suspension system. The design process of the nonlinear Luenberger observer (also known as the Kazantzis-Kravaris-Luenberger observer) is discussed. Particular attention was paid to the main nonlinearity of the system - the electromagnetic force, which was modeled applying the function describing the change in inductance as a function of the distance of the levitating object from the electromagnet surface. Theoretical analyses were confirmed by the results of experimental studies in which the task of moving the sphere between the given positions using current control was carried out. control tasks were conducted in the real-time regime on an embedded platform. The measured signals and estimated velocity were analyzed in the context of future implementations in control applications.

In a world in a continuous and rapid change, it is absolutely necessary for our students to keep up with the rapid progress of new technologies: Internet of Things (IoT), Robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) etc. The rapid evolution and diversification of these emerging technologies has recently led to their introduction into the educational offer of the school curriculum for the gymnasium. The discipline of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has already been implemented, a discipline that involves both the formation of skills to use new technologies and the formation of computational thinking necessary for the efficient and intelligent use of these technologies. In order to teach and learn Physics from a STEM (science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) educational perspective, we initiated optional school courses of IoT, Robotics and AI (approached through Machine Learning). These courses stimulate, at the level of students, computational thinking, creativity and innovation and lead, from an interdisciplinary perspective, to the development of emerging specializations such as Mathematics-Physics-Automation, Mathematics-Physics-Electronics, Mathematics-Physics-Informatics-Robotics etc. In this paper we presented a method of approaching, in the school educational space, the study of wireless communication technologies between smart devices, through an Educational Robotics project. The project consisted of creating a wireless controlled mobile robotic platform (robot car) via a Bluetooth module connected to an Arduino Uno board. © 2021 IEEE.

Photovoltaic (PV) panel modelling and control is very important in renewable energy systems. Due to it variability, PV panel generation power should be maximized for the given climate conditions. This paper considers three Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithms: Perturb Observe, Incremental Conductance and Fuzzy Logic. After a clear description for each algorithm, modelling, testing and validation is conducted on real experimental data for a 250W PV panel. Over one day period, a comparison between the 3 control MPPT algorithms show that Perturb Observe gives the best results, close to Incremental Conductance algorithm application. © 2021 IEEE.

The paper’s purpose was to investigate some methods based on neural networks for the detection and classification of harmful insects for agriculture as the Halyomorpha Halys. The implementation of different object detection networks for image categorization was analyzed. Images from the Maryland Biodiversity database were used for neural network training and testing. Rotation, scaling, blurring, mirroring, and other techniques were employed for data augmentation. For the detection and classification of Halyomorpha Halys, some neural networks that include multiple smaller networks were implemented and investigated. The networks used are the following: YOLOv5s, SSD with different backbones such as MobileNet V1, MobileNet V2, and ResNet-50, Faster R-CNN with ResNet-50 backbone, and EfficientDet-D0. Moreover, neural networks were evaluated and compared based on performance metrics such as accuracy and time. Performances like accuracy between 0.49 – 0.86 and time between 36 ms – 55 ms were obtained. The best results were obtained for YOLOv5s, in terms of accuracy, and EfficientDet-D0, in terms of time.

E-business offers to economic agents the opportunity to increase the efficiency of their activity, promote and offer their products and services on a large and diversified market. Often a single service, separately, does not meet all the needs of various categories and groups of customers. In such a situation, service composition can provide more technical, commercial, informational facilities than each separate component service can offer. There are many web-based frameworks used for e-business, but still with limitations. The paper presents a Services Composition Framework and a wise algorithm for e-business models, based on REST and SOAP web services. It is intended to be used for the development of e-business models, comprising stock market exchange, e-commerce, e-banking, etc. The customers can access the framework services, through Smartphones, on mobile and wireless communication channels. Within a Quality-of-Service performance analysis of the e-business Service Composition Framework, the response time and throughput for multiuser access simultaneous requests were evaluated. A stock market exchange service is considered, as an e-business service example, while Bucharest Stock Exchange information is the digital content source for data transactions. © 2022 IEEE.

Cyber-Physical Systems represent digital systems based mainly on the interconnection between the physical world and cyberspace. Physical processes are controlled and monitored through networked computers. Feedback loops between the physical and computing environment are involved, including sensors and actuators. Thus, the CPS design involves the analysis of the interrelated dynamical physical processes, computation resources, networks, and software. CPS is application-oriented, by its nature so the necessity of available services composition appears frequently. The CPS services, resources and capabilities can be placed at the system and node level. In this context, the Communication Cost is an important performance criteria for accessing their resources, even in a composite form. In this paper an interoperability framework, for Cyber-Physical Systems capabilities, using REST and SOAP web services is presented. The interoperability capabilities of the framework are ensured by both of the convergence of IP and non-IP networks for services access and by the services composition facilities. For a scenario of multiuser access at the composed services, the interoperability framework response time is evaluated, because it brings an important contribution in the determination of Communications Cost, in a QoS approach.
