Longer training times pose a significant challenge in artificial neural networks (ANNs) as it may leads to increasing the computational costs and decreasing the effectiveness of the model. Therefore, it is imperative to reduce training times in ANNs to enhance the computational efficiency. The initialization of the weights between the layers in ANN plays a vital role in reducing training times. Appropriate weight initialization can help the network converge faster during the training by providing an optimum starting point for the network. Therefore, weight initialization techniques are essential for efficient training of ANNs. This paper revisits and implements different popular weight initialization techniques in ANNs and analyzes their impact on training time. Specifically, this paper implements Gaussian-based, Kaming-based, and Xavier-based weight initiation atop a popular DNN-based network. The experiments are conducted by employing a well-known dataset. The results show that the scenario when no weight initiation is applied consumed the highest training time, whereas different weight initiation techniques contribute in reducing the training times for the network. © 2024 The Authors.

Takeaway delivery has become an important part of urban life. However, terminal deliveries are often blocked by security measures that often prevent them from arriving on time. Designing a takeaway delivery robot can solve this problem to a large extent. In this paper, path planning algorithm level of designing a takeaway robot is researched. In this paper, the research is carried out by closely focusing on the current stage of the path planning algorithm related difficulties. Three typical algorithms are selected for simulation testing within the scope of graph search algorithms. These three algorithms are Dijkstra algorithm, A∗ algorithm and rapidly-exploring random tree (RRT) algorithm. The final comparison is made with the simulation test results. And to find the optimal path planning algorithm for takeaway delivery robots within the range of graph search algorithms. This paper provides a reference for the path planning algorithm level of takeaway delivery robot design. At the same time, it helps to improve the delivery service of takeaway terminal. © The Institution of Engineering & Technology 2024.

Phase Contrast X-ray Imaging represents a technique that has shown remarkable potential in the research field, by providing better visualization of soft tissue, high-contrast images, and high spatial resolution. In the phase contrast imaging technique, the extraction of the three images represented by attenuation, differential phase contrast, and dark-field contrast is essential, providing, in a specific way, information about the nature of the analyzed tissue. This paper introduces a new method based on the three acquired images merging while adjusting the weighting factors, aiming to identify the interest object and to extract the information provided by each contrast channel. In this regard, a fusion-based algorithm was applied to images acquired, using a 5.66 m long Interferometer Talbot-Lau with ultrahigh sensitivity of 0.84 µradians and mean energy of 30 keV. The obtained results are quite promising, as shown in the end of the article. © 2024, Politechnica University of Bucharest. All rights reserved.

In this paper, we propose a genetic algorithm based on behavioral psychology developed by Carl Gustav Jung (16 Personalities model), in which we describe the person's behavioral features related to his personality. The model used for inherence is based on 40 years of psychology studies from the book 'The 16personalityy types that determinate how we live, love and work' [1] by Otto Kroeger and Janet M. Thuesen, published in 1988, but using inference extracted from an MBTI (Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator) dataset of online posts based on person personality and it thinks from 2018 [2]. © 2023 IEEE.

In today's dynamic healthcare environment an efficient allocation of healthcare resources is essential for overall positive outcomes of healthcare processes and patient's satisfaction. A preliminary stage for moving towards an efficient allocation of resources is the existence of an Integrated Management System (IMS) in the healthcare organizations. An IMS consist in a series of requirements on different areas that are mandatory to be *** modeling tools have been developed to improve the current state of healthcare processes. Those models can aid the decision-making process for allocation of healthcare resources and reduce costs. The purpose of this article is to present a predictive framework for efficient allocation in the healthcare system organization with implemented IMS. Type of resources relevant in the proposed framework were selected based on Pareto's rule. The aim of the predictive framework is to support better allocation and management of healthcare resources, which is critical for reliable healthcare outcomes. The framework integrates value-based concepts and it is focused on finding balance between process performance and cost. © 2023 IEEE.

The proliferation of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) in various applications has necessitated the exploration of network architectures that can ensure efficient, scalable, and reliable communication. This study presents a comparative performance evaluation of traditional networking paradigms and Software-Defined Networking (SDN)-based architectures within WSN. Utilizing the Floodlight SDN controller and Mininet-WiFi emulator, we conducted a series of experiments across three different network topologies, varying the number of hosts and access points. The performance metrics focused on are average latency, packet loss percentage, and throughput. The results demonstrate a considerable improvement in all measured parameters under the SDN-based environment compared to the traditional setup. Specifically, SDN environments consistently showcased lower latency, minimal packet loss, and higher throughput, with the most notable difference observed in smaller network configurations. The findings suggest that SDN, with its centralized control plane, can significantly enhance the performance of WSNs, particularly in scenarios demanding rapid scalability and dynamic traffic management. This study underscores the potential of SDN architectures in optimizing WSN operations and lays the groundwork for future research in this domain. © 2024, Politechnica University of Bucharest. In this paper, we proposed a genetic algorithm based on behavioral psychology developed by Carl Gustav Jung (16 Personalities model), in which we describe the person's behavioral leisure and ludic behavioral features regarding his personality. The model used for inference is based on 40 years of psychology research and studies from the book 'The 16 Personalities types that determinate how we live, love and work' by Otto Kroger and Janet M. Thuesen, published in 1988. To generate the leisure model, we are using genetic algorithms. To improve the leisure model, we are reinforcing it using weight-based fitness functions with inference extracted from the HappyDB dataset. In this dataset, persons around the world express the most valuable/happy moments in their life. The leisure model describes how they would prefer spending their time and how this will bring the most enjoyment and reward (human reward psychological model). © 2023 IEEE.

The identification and management of pest infestations in a timely manner have been an ever-pressing issue, more so than ever now, when new pests have arrived from around the world and governments are encouraging farmers to use fewer and fewer pesticides. The use of drones and artificial intelligence in the monitoring of orchards has taken a strong rise in recent years due to the advantages offered by efficiency, coverage, and price. A particularly dangerous insect in fruit production is the brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB). The paper seeks to look at a performance comparison in BMSB detection between three states of the art models of image detection and classification: MobileNetV2, Xception, and EfficientNet. Each network model was slightly modified being thus adapted for this application and the results obtained had high accuracy, between 97% and 99%. © 2023 IEEE.

Using photovoltaic (PV) systems connected in distribution and even transport grids increase the need for energy supply security. Energy Efficiency of PV power plants is a performance indicator as well as a fault detection method. control system topologies for grid connected PV power plants can increase the overall generation performance. Three types of plant control topologies with their benefits and drawbacks are compared. The paper also synthesizes the control requirements for each of the plant components cells/panels, inverter and grid connection point. The PV panel faults issue is tackled practically by designing a PVPP test bed for further application of the proposed fault detection algorithm. A 80kW rooftop PV plant is proposed for efficiency evaluation. A decision tree algorithm for power plant efficiency and fault detection is designed. Computation of the capacity factor is an energy efficiency indicator, as well as a detector for PV panel fault initiation by dust or objects covering the cells. A hierarchical control system architecture with a central level PLC and 4 inverters, each with several MPPT modules, one for each string is proposed. The fault tree algorithm will be implemented on the practical PV power plant test bed. © 2023 IEEE.

Multi-image super-resolution consists in fusing multiple images of the same scene to generate an image of higher spatial resolution. Recently, it has been demonstrated that for remotely sensed multispectral Sentine1-2 images, fusion performed in both spectral and temporal dimensions improves the reconstruction quality. However, the deep networks elaborated for this purpose are quite large and influence of the input data is difficult to interpret. In this paper, we show how to exploit transformer-based image fusion to reduce the number of trainable parameters by 30% and allow for increased interpretability with means of attention rollout. The reported experimental results performed over simulated and real-world data indicate that this does not affect the reconstruction quality, while at the same time the visualization tools may help in developing techniques for input data selection and preprocessing. © 2023 IEEE.
