This paper presents a practical laboratory for student education purpose in Distributed control Systems, with focus on applications for high voltage transmission substations. The monitoring, control and protection part is realized with a software platform and IED devices manufactured by AREVA T&D France, while the primary equipment, like circuit breakers and disconnectors are simulated with latched relays. The system architecture and communication network are reproducing a real one usually used in transmission substations. The implementation of this laboratory, both through specific laboratory works and experiments, makes the theoretical part to be supported by a practical experience, resulting in future graduates with added value in the electric power industry.

The paper proposes a cheap hybrid ground-air sensor network for environmental parameter measurements. The ground sensors are grouped into clusters, each cluster having several sensory nodes connected to a cluster head that sends the relevant data to the aerial, mobile nodes - unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Thus, using optimal trajectories, the UAVs are used both for measuring directly environmental parameters, as well as for collecting data from ground sensors. The authors present the modules' implementation of the hybrid system: ordinary sensory nodes, cluster heads, ground control stations, communication modems and UAV platforms. Finally, the performances of the realized hybrid network are analyzed from multiple points of view: energy consumption, time, and data acquisition efficiency.

Bioimpedance is a commonly used method for various conditions monitoring. In this paper, the authors carried out some research where they implemented various smoothing filters to enable identification of the bioimpedance spectroscopy parameters. The proposed filtering methods may also be used for application on embedded systems, which have smaller computing power but have become recently very popular. The obtained results with the implementation of smoothing filters were promising, however, some of the obtained results were unsatisfactory. This work also contains a brief introduction to bioimpedance spectroscopy and smoothing filters.

Augmented reality has become a very powerful tool nowadays. With the recent technological advance, smartphones have the ability to display augmented content on the screen. What makes the difference is the naturalness with which the multimedia content is superimposed over the video stream acquired with the phone's camera. This perfect overlay depends on the accurate estimation of the position and orientation of the smartphone's camera relative to the 3D representation of the space. ARCore is an augmented reality framework that computes the position and orientation of the smartphone. In order to assess the possibility of integrating ARCore within a virtual and augmented reality platform, we evaluated the accuracy of the ARCore localization technology, using the HTC Vive system as a reference. We designed an evaluation methodology, along with visualization tools that enable a thorough comparison between these two technologies.

The project presented in this paper aims to bring to the Romanian stage a system capable of providing information on various land changes that occur in Romania. These changes can have multiple causes, either natural or caused by human activities. Local authorities, business people, and researchers can use this information to make informed decisions that can influence Romanian citizens' well-being. This paper presents a method to build a complex system at the national level, aiming to highlight the usefulness of using geospatial data. In order to interact in a pleasant way with geospatial data providers, this work is based on an open-source solution called Open Data Cube, which incorporates in a library different services, acting as an interface between the system itself and the data providers, but also as a standard for data storage. This paper explores three different use cases, namely the detection of deforestation, monitoring the evolution of urbanization, and the evolution of the Black Sea coast, especially in the area of the mouth of the Danube river. Although different, with totally different causes, these three examples highlight the versatility of such a system.

This article aims to calculate the net income achieved by a prosumer for an existing On-Grid system of photovoltaic panels consisting of a set of 12 poly crystalline panels with a nominal power of 250 Wand 60 cells and an On-Grid inverter (StecaGrid model) with a maximum power of 3000 W. The prosumer is located in southern Romania, Ilfov County. Modeling of the photovoltaic panel in Matlab / SIMULINK was performed using a mathematical model, and it was compared with a real data set. Next, an analysis was made of the energy produced by the photovoltaic system, and the energy consumed by the prosumer, the excess energy being introduced in the national energy system. We have achieved a net income saving for March, so the analyzed photovoltaic system has energy efficiency that can significantly reduce electricity costs over time. Thus, using the Matlab / Simulink model, photovoltaic systems can be designed to satisfy the needs of prosumers.

The state of network paths is of great importance for the quality and reliability of the transmission of information coming from the IoT devices. Changing network conditions cause the state of a single path to be highly unpredictable, especially when large-scale IoT networks, connecting thousands of specialized devices, are in use. The solution to this problem is to perform trials in a real environment, with the use of real hardware. The rationalization of the design, the implementation and the exploitation of the process will be the main benefit of this approach. In this demonstration, a testbed infrastructure for the estimation of the state of path parameters in wired and wireless networks is presented. The estimation is based mainly on active measurements performed with the use of the Probing Packet Trains method. The key elements of the testbed infrastructure are locally and remotely controlled energy-efficient single-board computers, working under the control of the Linux operating system, which are equipped with software able to track (in manual or automatic mode) changing conditions of a given transmission path.
