Blockchain technology gained much traction in the last few years. These decentralized databases offer security, immutability, and scalability across various applications. Decentralized applications generate vast amounts of data, known as events, that are recorded on the blockchain and are public to anyone. Some people may see opportunities for financial gains in these events and would like to know when they occur. This paper proposes a solution to process and deliver those events as real-time alerts to the users. It uses existing technologies such as message queues, multithreading, and asynchronous processing and integrates them into a scalable architecture. The results we achieved in this paper show that for an evenly distributed network traffic, which does not entirely consists of transaction bursts, the proposed solution offers reliability, efficiency, and a suitable delivery time to those wishing to integrate it into their projects. With time, this solution, or improved architectures, may form the basis of the following big-data architectures for processing blockchain events. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper we present an approach for facial expression recognition in images depicting persons of different ages, genders and ethnicities. We propose "emotion sketches" which are simplified representations of facial expressions, so that classification can be done regardless of the physical characteristics of persons portrayed in the analyzed images. Emotion sketches are based on facial landmarks identified in static images. The paper describes the process of obtaining the emotion sketches and validates the approach by training and testing three neural networks on them. This paper describes the solutions submitted by the UPB team to the AuTexTification shared task, featured as part of IberLEF-2023. Our team participated in the first subtask, identifying text documents produced by large language models instead of humans. The organizers provided a bilingual dataset for this subtask, comprising English and Spanish texts covering multiple domains, such as legal texts, social media posts, and how-to articles. We experimented mostly with deep learning models based on Transformers, as well as training techniques such as multi-task learning and virtual adversarial training to obtain better results. We submitted three runs, two of which consisted of ensemble models. Our best-performing model achieved macro F1-scores of 66.63% on the English dataset and 67.10% on the Spanish dataset. © 2023 Copyright for this paper by its authors. This paper details the integration of augmented reality (AR) in a new factory, focusing on enhancing maintenance efficiency and optimization. The innovative approach involves combining AR technology, an Android application, and Siemens PLCs (Programmable Logic controller), for efficient automation. The robustness of the PLC enables seamless integration within manufacturing environments, accommodating diverse programming paradigms. The software aspect features Human Machine Interface (HMI) configuration using Siemens' WinCC software, offering dynamic visualizations, alarm handling, and data logging. WinCC's scalability suits applications of varying sizes. The HMI architecture is designed for easy parameter display. The Android application, developed with Java and Python, leverages their respective strengths in Android app development and image processing. Data exchange is facilitated by OPC-UA, supporting multiple programming languages for seamless communication. The AR Teleassistance is highlighted as a revolutionary solution, fostering real-Time communication among global experts, technicians, and operators. Beyond gaming origins, AR teleassistance enhances efficiency in various sectors, minimizing downtime and facilitating global knowledge transfer. The integration of Teleassistance promotes effective collaboration between human expertise and automated systems, crucial for optimal performance in modern industrial settings. Continuous development is suggested through the addition of more 3D mechanical drawings and real-Time stock information for parts in the application, aiming for future optimization and performance enhancement. © 2024 IEEE.

The paper presents a method of assessing thermal comfort in office rooms, using data collected from Fitbit bracelets. The result is a fuzzy system for the level of thermal comfort that wants to meet two objectives: reducing the energy consumption in the building and fulfilling the thermal comfort for the occupants. The representative factors taken into account in this study are: air temperature, relative humidity, user activity, clothing level and skin temperature. The proposed fuzzy system was modeled and simulated in the Matlab/SIMULINK development environment, showing satisfactory results after the analysis of the data taken over a period of several days. © 2023 IEEE.

Smart agricultural systems require irrigation systems powered by renewable energy sources that are also adaptable for isolated areas without connection possibility to the electricity network or the water network. For such situations, in this paper, a solution is proposed using a wind turbine and a submersible pump to feed a water basin, subsequently irrigation is done by free fall. The developed solution is designed and simulated using a model of a medium-power wind turbine, and a battery storage element with the aim of providing the necessary electricity for irrigation of an agricultural area in Buzau, where there is a water deficit. © 2023 IEEE.

The classification and identification of blood cells from microscopic images is very important for the detection of serious diseases. To increase the efficiency of the identification and counting of cells from 8 classes such as Basophils, Eosinophils, Erythroblasts, Immature Granulocytes, Lymphocytes, Monocytes, Neutrophils, and Thrombocytes, a special advance was taken using artificial intelligence for image analysis. This article proposes a collective intelligence decision system based on the fusion of individual decisions of four efficient convolutional neural networks, VGG 16, Xception, ResNet-50, and NasNetLarge. The fusion is based on the efficiency of each network's performance in recognizing (correctly classifying) the membership class of the analyzed cell. In this sense, a weight is established for each network associated with a certain class. The global system has better performances than each individual network and is better or comparable to those reported in recent works. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper presents the development of a system that uses fuzzy logic in order to evaluate the thermal comfort conditions expressed by means of a score by the occupants of an office room The inputs of the system are represented by three datasets relevant to the study: the air temperature, the positioning of the occupant and the level of activity carried out by the occupant. Based on the comfort score obtained, the HVAC system located at the room level will maintain a comfortable environment. The proposed solution also contributes to the minimization of energy consumption in buildings. In order to collect the data sets necessary for the study, we used the *** module as a wearable device. © 2023 IEEE.

Air pollution is one of the major environmental issues discussed lately due to its influence on human health. Particular attention is paid to air quality monitoring today and most developed societies have implemented weather and air quality monitoring stations in various locations inside or outside cities to monitor and reduce the effects of poor air quality. Modern standards and sensors have started to be used in recent years to monitor air quality. Conventional air quality monitoring systems, on the other hand, are not able to provide real-time air quality data with acceptable spatial and temporal resolutions at a low cost, so the challenge is to achieve low-cost and energy-independent solutions. Using modern technologies, e.g. Internet of-things (IoT), an original approach is proposed for building an air quality monitoring system considering low cost equipment and efficient energy autonomous approach. Smart cities have successfully implemented air quality monitoring systems that combine both hardware and software. The results presented in the paper show the viability of the proposed solution, exposing the designed solution and different ways of presenting air quality monitoring. © 2023 IEEE.
