The paper describes the energy consumption from the battery based on the current measurements for various cases, i.e., speed (PWL adjustment) and loads. The main purpose of the research is to have additional and reliable information about power consumption and battery life estimation for autonomous guided vehicles (AGV). The authors propose a two-step algorithm. In the first step, a linear classifier was proposed. Then, the KNN classifier was tested;however, it did not give satisfactory results, so it was finally decided to use the random forest to estimate the load and PWL. The time domain current measurement is evaluated, and the beforementioned algorithms process the selected statistical measures. It has been proven that a two-step algorithm allows for achieving high accuracy. Based on the current observation, the paper is a good starting point for further investigation of the AGV because it is usually implemented in the AGV - so it does not require additional hardware. Moreover, it can lead to better energy management and increase battery lifetime. © 2023 IEEE.

In the context of data imbalance probably the most investigated problem is imbalance of classes, as learning from the data with this characteristic makes detection of existing patterns for all classes more difficult. However, other problems related to imbalance also exists and the paper addresses such cases where classes are balanced, but there is in-class imbalance. Such imbalance can be caused by uneven representation of sub-concepts. When there is a noticeable difference between the numbers of samples belonging to sub-concepts, this can turn the under-represented sub-concepts into disjuncts. Data irregularities of this type can hinder recognition, therefore actions are typically taken to restore balance. In the investigations described, the issue was studied in the stylometric domain and various classifiers were applied to the data that was balanced, then imbalanced, and finally with restored balance. The experiments show that the specifics of the domain of application can put its own mark on the data which is difficult to overcome by standard processing such as under- or oversampling. Observed dependence on a learner and dataset makes the issue even more complex and layered, and shows the need for deeper studies. © 2024 The Authors.

The paper presents research dedicated to observations of relations between attribute properties and discretisation. In the investigations described, the gradually increasing sets of features were discretised by selected approaches, and several variants of data were constructed. The continuous, partially discrete, and completely translated datasets were explored by the chosen classifiers and their performance studied in the context of a number of discretised attributes, discretisation procedures, and the way of processing of features and datasets. The stylometric problem of authorship attribution was the machine learning task under study. The experimental results enable to observe closer the specificity of style-markers employed as characteristic features, and indicate conditions for efficient recognition of authorship. They can be extended to other application domains with similar characteristics. © 2024 The Authors.

This paper aims to summarize the progress made in the use of the Digital Twin (DT) concept for choosing the right drug for a person, as well as presenting a subnet model that predicts existing drugs for a particular pathology, based on genetic expressions involved in the disease, and genes addressed by therapy. Finally, as a result of the research, the paper discusses how the proposed method can be applied to search for a medication for the disease caused by the Covid 19 virus, with reference to the results of some clinical trials conducted after the onset of the pandemic. © 2021, Politechnica University of Bucharest. – This paper proposes an original implementation for a GCS (Ground control Station) software in the context of a multi-GCS and multi-UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) system. The ground system is built around a GDT (Ground Data Terminal), which is the gateway between ground system and aerial platform that is Hirrus UAV. The software is written in C++ programming language, is based on SDL (Simple DirectMedia Library) and OpenGL for implementing the GUI (Graphical User Interface), and STL (Standard Template Library) and BOOST Library for threading and asynchronous operations. © 2021, Politechnica University of Bucharest. In order to be sustainable, the cloud architectures must have good scalability and throughput. On the processors market, ARM started to show interest for servers and desktop processors. x86 and x86 64 CPU market have a strong opponent, with a lower power consumption and comparable performances. A solution to the scalability and throughput requirements could be a virtualized environment. One example is the FreeBSD’s hypervisor, bhyve, mainly because FreeBSD is often used in server environments, has a strong TCP/IP stack imple-mentation. bhyve’s implementation for ARM was not accepted in the mainline, due the lack of testing on real hardware. This paper presents the steps taken in order to bring-up the hypervisor on a development board, called ESPRESSObin. © 2021, Politechnica University of Bucharest. All rights reserved.

The new challenges in the Romanian National Power System (NPS), namely the integration of very high electricity production from renewable sources and the concentration of wind power production in the South-East of the NPS (about 80% of the installed capacity in power plants) determines the change of power flows in short intervals of time. Therefore, a fast voltage level adjustment is required and appropriate to the respective NPS mode of operation. In this paper, the simulation were carried out with Eurostag software, which is specific for energy processes modeling and simulation that are made in NPS and it was demonstrated how a SVC device can improve the voltage level (limiting the voltage with about 4 kV in steady-state operation) in areas where the voltage is constantly exceeded. © 2021, Politechnica University of Bucharest. Modern real-time computer graphics, augmented reality enhanced devices or virtual reality head mounted displays expect a high degree of photo-realism for an immersive experience. One of the most important components of the photo-realistic effect is represented by the simulation of the light transport, which for real-time applications is widely known as global illumination. In this paper we present a novel hybrid global illumination method that simulates the light transport using information available both in screen space and light space. We define a strategy to combine both sources of information to obtain both the diffuse and specular components of the indirect light, together with the lighting attenuation produced by ambient occlusion. We present different extensions to accommodate multiple types of light, to produce subsurface scattering and the direct lighting of area lights. Also, we included different optimization strategies to scale the approach for multiple lights. We evaluate our method based on both qualitative and quantitative criteria and analyze the results. © 2021, Politechnica University of Bucharest. All rights reserved.

This paper proposes a framework for real-time monitoring of the power consumption of distributed calculation on the nodes of the cluster. The framework allows to visualize and analyze the provider results based on the context information about the performed calculation. The first part of the framework is devoted to monitoring the power consumption during the execution of machine learning algorithms and the performance of NoSQL storage. The second part is dedicated to the testing of distributed data storage, called Scalable Distributed Two-Layered Data Structure (SD2DS). The results show that the framework can be used in the development of a management system that could schedule computations to take full advantage of renewable energy. Detection of persons from restricted areas with the help of UAVs is one of the current trends in ensuring the security of regions of interest. For the processing of images acquired by UAVs of special interest are machine learning techniques with an emphasis on neural networks. For this task, two neural networks are proposed and tested in this paper: YOLO v5m and Faster R-CNN. They were learned and tested on two data sets: HERIDAL and a proprietary video stream data set. Both networks gave good results, and the best results were obtained on their own data set (because the images in HERIDAL were taken at a higher height). © 2022 IEEE.
