This paper presents an application based on the the cloud-based S4I platform [1], which is called Mobile Asset Management System (MAMS). The application is able to monitor and control mobile assets anywhere in the world with a PC and Internet connection. It is integrated in the Application Layer of the S4I platform. MAMS is a mobile asset management solution dedicated to locating and monitoring commercial fleets. The implementation of the MAMS application is a reliable proof of the flexibility and the scalability of the S4I platform, truly creating a unique cloud-based integration system for wireless radio communication.

In the post-9/11 world, fleet managers, government officials, public safety personnel, and other stakeholders have become concerned about the potential for attacks involving trucks, containers, or other elements of the global transportation infrastructure. The current smart city trend focuses on providing an intelligent, interoperable and secure environment for all citizens. The cloud based Student Transportation Safety System presented in this paper is a location aware mobile asset management solution for operators of commercial fleets, having a cloud based platform at its core. In this paper authors will expose a work developed with the aim to submit an educational innovation project proposal to a competitive call for Educational Innovation Projects 2013-2015 of the Education Advisory Service of the Basque Country University (UPV/EHU, Spain). This project is being carried out in the computer Structure and computer Architecture sub-module of the Degree in computer Management and Information Systems Engineering of the University College of Engineering of Vitoria-Gasteiz, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). The project is based on the active learning, more specifically, on cooperative learning. In this paper we have given deeper insight the dependencies between all the subjects belonging to the analyzed sub-module, which is composed of two subjects named computer Structure and computer Architecture. We have included in such analysis a previous subject named Principles of Digital Systems Design, which does not belong to that sub-module, but plays an important role in the acquisition of the knowledge and competencies of the two previously referenced subjects.

An engine test stand created especially for research of electrical race car is described in the paper. The car is an aim of Silesian Greenpower project whose participants build and test electrical vehicles to take part in international races in Great Britain. The engine test stand is used to test and measure the characteristics of vehicles and their engines. It has been designed particularly to test the electric cars engineered by students of Silesian Greenpower project. The article contains a description how the test stand works and shows its versatility in many areas. The paper presents both construction of the test stand, control system and sample results of conducted research. The engine test stand was designed and modified using PLM Siemens NX 8.5. The construction of the test stand is highly modular, which means it can be used both for testing the vehicle itself or for tests without the vehicle. The test stand has its own wheel, motor, powertrain and braking system with second engine. Such solution enables verifying various concepts without changing the construction of the vehicle. The control system and measurement system are realized by enabling National Instruments product myRIO (RIO - Reconfigurable Input/Output). This controller in combination with powerful LabVIEW environment performs as an advanced tool to control torque and speed simultaneously. It is crucial as far as the test stand is equipped in two motors - the one being tested and the braking one. The feedback loop is realized by an optical encoder cooperating with the rotor mounted on the wheel. The results of tests are shown live on the screen both as a chart and as single values. After performing several tests there is a report generated. The engine test stand is widely used during process of the Silesian Greenpower vehicle design. Its versatility enables powertrain testing, wheels and tires tests, thermal analysis and more.

The problem of elimination of impulsive disturbances from archive audio signals is considered and its new solution, called predictive matched filtering, is proposed. The new approach is based on the observation that a large percentage of noise pulses corrupting archive audio recordings have highly repetitive shapes that match several typical "patterns", called click templates. To localize noise pulses, click templates can be correlated with the sequence of multi-step-ahead prediction errors yielded by the model-based signal predictor. It is shown that predictive matched filtering is an efficient and computationally affordable disturbance localization technique - when combined with the classical detection method based on autoregressive modeling, it can significantly improve restoration results.

Quora members interact through technology and with technology, creating different regimes of sociality: a regime of visibility, in which users and technology assemble the ranked list of answers; a regime of recognition, in which members rely on answers and authors' identity to acknowledge value; a regime of interaction, in which members comment on posted answers. For several decades, the power system protection relay has experienced many important changes, from purely electromechanical type to the mixture of electronic and electromechanical type, then to fully static and now fully numerical relays based on microprocessors. The paper presents an integrated system for Urban Traffic Monitoring and control conceived in the perspective of a Cyber Physical Approach. Traffic actors are defined as classes of agents, each of them with a set of possible behaviors and behavioral drivers. Some of the behaviors are dependent on the actual physical structure/implementation of agents. Different levels of control can be defined with regard to the physical functioning context and the overall system will have a complex emergent behavior. At this moment of conception, traffic actors include mainly components of traffic infrastructure and respective control and monitoring units, but the design is open-system, so as to define also vehicle class.

In this article we propose a generalization of the concept of Lyapunov exponents for discrete linear systems which may be used in the case of unbounded coefficients. We show some simplest properties of this generalization and apply it to define a generalization of regular system. Finally, we discuss the problem of stability by linear approximation.
