There is an increasing need for computational and storage capabilities for complex distributed applications. Existing solutions need to be deployed in an environment that allows for an increase in performance, scalability, and availability. This paper takes looks at the state-of-the-art regarding methods that take existing applications and make them more efficient by using Cloud services. The novelty of the paper consists of a proposed framework for deploying applications on three major Cloud providers (i.e., Amazon’s AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure) and on the OpenStack open-source Cloud. After the main services from the four Cloud providers are identified, different deployment methods are described depending on the Cloud services and on the requirements of the application. Also, some examples of migrations are discussed with reference to specific Cloud provider services. The proposed solution for Anythingas-a-Service (YaaS) is a straightforward framework for taking different types of applications and migrating them to the Cloud. Therefore, the deployed applications benefit from Cloud features such as resource pooling, availability or scalability, while also being wary of the incurring costs.

Usually when modeling a real process the effects of nonlinearities must be taken into account. A road traffic sector is one such process. Considering it from a macroscopic point of view, the sector is modeled both as a nonlinear and as a linearized process. An 110 model is proposed and a RST control algorithm is used to ensure the imposed performances for the closed loop system. The robustness of the system is obtained by determining the modulus margin and based upon it the admissible nonlinearities are analyzed in order to determine the limits between which the system maintains its stability.

The paper presents the application of the Cole-Cole model for determining the runs of the return voltage of the paper-oil insulation sample through a computer simulation. Different insulation conditions were simulated through an adequate selection of parameters alpha and tau of the Cole-Cole model. For calculation purposes, a series-parallel substitute scheme, obtained through approximation of a discrete characteristic operator impedance Z a of the model applied, was used. The diagnostics of the simulated insulation condition was based on the analysis of a few selected parameters of the return voltage, obtained from time characteristics.

<正>Enterprise control applications are becoming more and more complex, exploiting distributed object technology in multi-tier architectures. For educational purposes, the development of a manufacturing control laboratory that may emphasize the new control techniques and the overall integration of the system activities with business processes is a complex and challenging task. In the paper, an educational enterprise application that integrates the ERP concept together with a Flexible Manufacturing System in a computer Integrated Laboratory is presented. It contains modularized, distributed subsystems in configurable and maintainable software, covering the business processes, from the customer order, to planned order dispatch. The software architecture contains the ERP components that are implemented using Enterprise Java Beans, deployed in a J2EE application server. It enables transactions with the business environment, shop-floor system and the database. The application is conceptually designed and analyzed using a visual model developed in Unified Modeling Language.

The real estate market, as an engine of economic growth, directly affects both financial stability and the development of communities at local and global levels. Nevertheless, it faces significant challenges, ranging from complex legislative processes and bureaucratic inefficiencies to fraud risks and high costs. Addressing these issues requires a paradigm shift to improve efficiency and transparency in this sector. The proposed solution aims to integrate emerging technologies such as blockchain and smart contracts to secure transactions and create a tamper-proof digital history. The implementation of dynamic non-fungible tokens (dNFTs) facilitates property transfers and digitally models real estate assets. A novel communication protocol and store policy are proposed for storing real estate information on the blockchain network and on decentralized storage so that the digital token representing the property can change based on external factors, e.g., change in ownership, actual updates being done on the property, or an update in valuation. The proposed framework ensures trustworthiness, transparency, traceability and security, while providing a flexible architecture with the main system components, including ways to model, update, list and buy a real estate property.

This paper compares the performance of two reinforcement learning algorithms, Q-Learning and MAXQ-0, in learning to play an original game. An extension of MAXQ-0 algorithm, MAXQ-P is introduced, which enhances the variety of the tree nodes with simple, ordered and repetitive nodes. The hierarchical approach provided by MAXQ-P finds the optimal solution faster than the flat Q-Learning approach but converges more slowly. Furthermore, the performance of the MAXQ-P algorithm decreases after a certain number of episodes due to representation error in the weights of the model. To address this issue, the model is periodically tested with an exploration value of 0, and if the model successfully finds the solution, it is stored for future use. This study provides insights into the benefits and drawbacks of using hierarchical reinforcement learning algorithms for complex tasks and highlights the importance of carefully designing and training such algorithms for optimal performance.

In this paper, the authors do a comparative study of two methods to eliminate the static hazards from logical functions. The first method consists in determining the coupled terms and getting the term that masks the static hazards, and the second method consists in determining the masking additional term by solving a system of Boolean equations. From the presented examples, the authors deduced that the 2 nd method (solving a Boolean equations system) is more advantageous because it eliminates the heuristic nature of the first method (the determination of coupled terms) and, by solving the equations system it determines all prime implicants that needs to be added to the function's expression.

Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) is starting to become the norm as more and more smart devices and sensors are installed in people’s homes. This is an important aspect in improving the quality of life, especially for the elderly and for people with *** solution presented in this paper approaches this paradigm in a large scale deployment context, as it proposes an AAL architecture on three layers (Edge, Dew, and Cloud), which is capable of handling high amount of sensor data in near realtime. Using a distributed system of rules engines, the system is able to take actions based on the acquired data. An important novel concept is the “new home deployment”, which facilitates the integration of the devices from a new installation site - the software setup of the new edge infrastructure is done by using a dedicated Cloud service. In order to showcase the practicality and efficiency of the architecture, this paper presents the intricacies of the employed services and service-interaction when deploying the solution on the OpenStack Cloud platform.
