The project presented in this paper aims to bring to the Romanian stage a system capable of providing information on various land changes that occur in Romania. These changes can have multiple causes, either natural or caused by human activities. Local authorities, business people, and researchers can use this information to make informed decisions that can influence Romanian citizens' well-being. This paper presents a method to build a complex system at the national level, aiming to highlight the usefulness of using geospatial data. In order to interact in a pleasant way with geospatial data providers, this work is based on an open-source solution called Open Data Cube, which incorporates in a library different services, acting as an interface between the system itself and the data providers, but also as a standard for data storage. This paper explores three different use cases, namely the detection of deforestation, monitoring the evolution of urbanization, and the evolution of the Black Sea coast, especially in the area of the mouth of the Danube river. Although different, with totally different causes, these three examples highlight the versatility of such a system.

—In the paper, a problem of forecasting promotion efficiency is raised. The authors propose a new approach, using the gradient boosting method for this task. Six performance indicators are introduced to capture the promotion effect. For each of them, within predefined groups of products, a model was trained. A description of using these models for forecasting and optimising promotion efficiency is provided. Data preparation and hyperparameters tuning processes are also described. The experiments were performed for three groups of products from a large grocery company. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This article aims to calculate the net income achieved by a prosumer for an existing On-Grid system of photovoltaic panels consisting of a set of 12 poly crystalline panels with a nominal power of 250 Wand 60 cells and an On-Grid inverter (StecaGrid model) with a maximum power of 3000 W. The prosumer is located in southern Romania, Ilfov County. Modeling of the photovoltaic panel in Matlab / SIMULINK was performed using a mathematical model, and it was compared with a real data set. Next, an analysis was made of the energy produced by the photovoltaic system, and the energy consumed by the prosumer, the excess energy being introduced in the national energy system. We have achieved a net income saving for March, so the analyzed photovoltaic system has energy efficiency that can significantly reduce electricity costs over time. Thus, using the Matlab / Simulink model, photovoltaic systems can be designed to satisfy the needs of prosumers.

The state of network paths is of great importance for the quality and reliability of the transmission of information coming from the IoT devices. Changing network conditions cause the state of a single path to be highly unpredictable, especially when large-scale IoT networks, connecting thousands of specialized devices, are in use. The solution to this problem is to perform trials in a real environment, with the use of real hardware. The rationalization of the design, the implementation and the exploitation of the process will be the main benefit of this approach. In this demonstration, a testbed infrastructure for the estimation of the state of path parameters in wired and wireless networks is presented. The estimation is based mainly on active measurements performed with the use of the Probing Packet Trains method. The key elements of the testbed infrastructure are locally and remotely controlled energy-efficient single-board computers, working under the control of the Linux operating system, which are equipped with software able to track (in manual or automatic mode) changing conditions of a given transmission path.

This paper describes a formation of hybrid coatings on a Ti-2Ta-3Zr-36Nb *** is accomplished by plasma electrolytic oxidation and a dip-coating technique with poly(adipic anhydride)((C6H8O3)n)that is loaded with drugs:amoxicillin(C16H19N3O5S),cefazolin(C14H14N8O4S3)or vancomycin(C66H75Cl2N9O24·xHCl).The characteristic microstructure of the polymer was evaluated using scanning electron microscopy and confocal *** on the surface treatment,the surface roughness varied(between 1.53μm and 2.06μm),and the wettability was change with the over of time.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis showed that the oxide layer did not affect the polymer layer or loaded ***,the drugs lose their stability in a phosphate-buffered saline solution after 6.5 h of exposure,and its decrease was greater than 7%(HPLC analysis).The stability,drug release and concentration of the drug loaded into the material were precisely analyzed by high-performance liquid *** results correlated with the degradation of the polymer in which the addition of drugs caused the percent of degraded polymer to be between 35.5%and 49.4%after 1 h of material immersion,depending on the mass of the loaded drug and various biological responses that were ***,all of the coatings were cytocompatible with MG-63 osteoblast-like *** drug concentrations released from the coatings were sufficient to inhibit adhesion of reference and clinical bacterial strains(***).The coatings with amoxicillin showed the best results in the bacterial inhibition zone,whereas coatings with cefazolin inhibited adhesion of the above bacteria on the surface.

A novel family of Cosine series Quantum Sampling (QCoSamp) operators appropriate for quantum computing is described. The development of quantum algorithms, analogous to classical algorithms, we apply to the harmonic analysis of signals. We show quantum sampling through measurements of a quantum system, and after operators of the family are applied, allow for input signal mapping with a Fourier series representation. The paper is dedicated to the area of feature selection, in particular a notion of attribute rankings that allow to estimate importance of variables. In the research presented for ranking construction a new weighting factor was defined, based on relative reducts. A reduct constitutes an embedded mechanism of feature selection, specific to rough set theory. The proposed factor takes into account the number of reducts in which a given attribute exists, as well as lengths of reducts. Two approaches for reduct generation were employed and compared, with search executed by a genetic algorithm. To validate the usefulness of the reduct-based rankings in the process of feature reduction, for gradually decreasing subsets of attributes, selected through rankings, sets of decision rules were induced in classical rough set approach. The performance of all rule classifiers was evaluated, and experimental results showed that the proposed rankings led to at least the same, or even increased classification accuracy for reduced sets of features than in the case of operating on the entire set of condition attributes. The experiments were performed on datasets from stylometry domain, with treating authorship attribution as a classification task, and stylometric descriptors as characteristic features defining writing styles.

The paper presents research focused on decision reducts, a feature reduction mechanism inherent to rough sets theory. As a reduct enables to protect the discriminative properties of attributes with respect to described concepts, from the point of data representation, a reduct length is considered to be the most important measure of its quality. However, such approach is insufficient while taking into account the performance of a reduct-based rule classifier applied to test samples. When many reducts of the same length are available, they can lead to vastly different predictions. The paper provides a description for the proposed procedure for iterative reduct generation, which results in decrease of diversity in the observed levels of accuracy, supporting reduct selection. The procedure was applied for binary classification with balanced classes, for the stylometric task of authorship attribution.
