Last five decades witnessed remarkable developments in linear control systems and thus problems in this subject has been largely resolved. The scope of the present paper is beyond linear solutions. Modern technology demands sophisticated control laws to meet stringent design specifications thus highlighting the increasingly conspicuous position of nonlinear control systems, which is the topic of this paper. Historical role of analytical concepts in analysis and design of nonlinear control systems is briefly outlined. Recent advancements in these systems from applications perspective are examined with critical comments on associated challenges. It is anticipated that wider dissemination of this comprehensive review will stimulate more collaborations among the research community and contribute to further developments.

The topic of this paper concerns a way of robotic manipulator control with use of hand gestures. The previously developed hand landmarks detection and localization algorithm is now translated to work with robotic arm manipulator. The proposed algorithm is used for hand gesture recognition and continuous feature points tracking. The points coordinates and their detected paths are transformed into set of orientation and location values in order to achieve proper motion of manipulator. The article presents the way of implementation of hand landmarks tracking algorithm and implementation of robot arm manipulator control algorithm. The main emphasis is laid on the critical problems encountered during the implementation of those two algorithms and the problem of translation of the detection coordinate system into robot task space.

The subject of the article is a simulation of heat affected components of a device for deep drawing by extreme conditions in vacuum by high temperatures required for forming of crystallization containers made from thin molybdenum sheets. The simulation is focused on the distribution of heat in particular components in relation with their shape. There are presented the design of working components and the boundary conditions of transient thermal simulations with the results.

The main aim of this project was to design and construct the laboratory setup to perform testing of the ABS car systems. In this paper a realistic car brake system for a one wheel with suspension is used. Development and implementation of ABS architecture for integrated real-time, embedded control software is described. At the same time, it includes an exploratory study of ABS dynamics model, monitor and sensor system, etc. The architecture design of ABS control system at the graphical programming level is then established. In addition, it provides the rapid prototyping design in ABS car system based on MPC Target and has a strong engineering application value. We emphasize the design methodology of the control system supported by rapid prototyping in Hardware in the Loop structure.

The paper discusses the design process of a full programmable logic controller implemented by means of FPGA device. The PLC is compliant with EN 61131-3 standard. It is equipped with a programmer that allows to transfer a program to the program memory of the controller, and the I/O controller which allows the exchange of information with the outside world, i.e. the signal modules. Some interesting aspects of instruction list and hardware architecture designing are presented, e.g. the PLC structure with a particular emphasis on central processing unit and memory map. The PLC is developed using one FPGA device as a combination of dedicated logic and soft-processor based parts. This gives an opportunity to develop interesting solutions. For example, using dual port RAM gives an opportunity to implement bit/word access without the necessity of masking bits. The paper presents a short description of a designed and written simple integrated development environment.
