This paper presents analysis of components tolerance influence on fault diagnosis efficiency of analog electronic circuits. There has been proposed method of finding optimal frequency of input periodic excitation with simultaneous maximization of components tolerances in order to keep assumed level of diagnosis efficiency. There has been also proposed departure from classical “location after detection” schema. Combination of detection and location in a single step can remarkably shorten diagnosis time. In 2005 an integrated blended e-learning service based on Moodle Learning Management System (LMS), was introduced in Silesian University of Technology, Gliwice, Poland. Review of LMS content shows that some courses contain insufficient number of components, and in many cases the quality of resources is poor. The goal of our research was to identify why some teachers are reluctant to utilize LMS. A survey was carried out in order to examine to what extent teachers accept and make use of various LMS elements. Teachers were also asked to indicate main barriers to LMS-based teaching and present their comments on perspectives of blended learning. Several figures, charts and comments resulting from the survey are presented in the paper. The main obstacles were identified and the suggestions how to eliminate them are presented in the paper.

The enormous number of advantages of minimally invasive surgery leads to the development of computer systems that are helpful tools during laparoscopic operations. In the paper a liver deformation model has been proposed including the shape deflection of the liver surface while inserting a tool into the organ and extracting it. The model is an answer to the need of better visualization during endoscopic surgery. The desired solution to this issue should be both fast and accurate. The existing solutions to the problem of internal organ deformation were briefly presented. The proposed model is an extension of previously introduced liver deflection models which have been enriched by calculating the shape of liver surface after breaking the organ structure. The main assumptions of the model have been specified. Essential mathematical transformations have been discussed. The correctness of the new model has been verified using US images of a liver while pushing and pulling a laparoscopic tool inside the organ. Pictures included in the paper enable the visual comparison of the real deformation with the one calculated using the new model.

This article presents maximisation of components tolerance together with finding optimal frequency of a periodic excitation in fault diagnosis of analogue electronic circuits. Additionally classical two-stage “detection → location” diagnosis sequence is merged into single step in order to reduce test time. Presented optimisation problems are solved by means of a genetic algorithm.

A correct diagnostics together with the early prediction of failure or malfunction of the system are the major issues in modern maintenance. Nowadays, the time-honored diagnostics may be inadequate and lead to omitting failures, resulting in higher costs of repairing damaged equipment. That is why the interest in intelligent diagnostics increases due to the possibility of better interpretation of the component status and early failure prediction. One of the ways of determining the device condition is to measure and analyze the temperature of multiple points on the device. Thermographics may show a beginning of significant wear of a component, and enable a repair or replacing before the failure appears. The paper presents the key aspects of the diagnostics with thermal images, including: technology mapping, mapping algorithms, together with a presentation of available software solutions.
