In this paper, we proposed a genetic algorithm based on behavioral psychology developed by Carl Gustav Jung (16 Personalities model), in which we describe the person's behavioral leisure and ludic behavioral features regarding his personality. The model used for inference is based on 40 years of psychology research and studies from the book 'The 16 Personalities types that determinate how we live, love and work' by Otto Kroger and Janet M. Thuesen, published in 1988. To generate the leisure model, we are using genetic algorithms. To improve the leisure model, we are reinforcing it using weight-based fitness functions with inference extracted from the HappyDB dataset. In this dataset, persons around the world express the most valuable/happy moments in their life. The leisure model describes how they would prefer spending their time and how this will bring the most enjoyment and reward (human reward psychological model). © 2023 IEEE.

In today's dynamic healthcare environment an efficient allocation of healthcare resources is essential for overall positive outcomes of healthcare processes and patient's satisfaction. A preliminary stage for moving towards an efficient allocation of resources is the existence of an Integrated Management System (IMS) in the healthcare organizations. An IMS consist in a series of requirements on different areas that are mandatory to be *** modeling tools have been developed to improve the current state of healthcare processes. Those models can aid the decision-making process for allocation of healthcare resources and reduce costs. The purpose of this article is to present a predictive framework for efficient allocation in the healthcare system organization with implemented IMS. Type of resources relevant in the proposed framework were selected based on Pareto's rule. The aim of the predictive framework is to support better allocation and management of healthcare resources, which is critical for reliable healthcare outcomes. The framework integrates value-based concepts and it is focused on finding balance between process performance and cost. © 2023 IEEE.

Pneumonia is one of the top causes of death in Romania and early detection of this disease improves the recovery chances and shortens the length of hospitalization. In this work, we develop a solution for automatic pneumonia detection based on convolutional neural networks. Four network models are investigated. They are trained on 4.163 images from a public dataset and tested on 530 images. The best results are obtained by one of the proposed models conducting to a sensitivity of 98.72%, an accuracy of 89.81%, and ROC 93.46%. Thus, this research proposes a lightweight screening tool that can help triaging the patients with pneumonia. © 2023 IEEE.

The identification and management of pest infestations in a timely manner have been an ever-pressing issue, more so than ever now, when new pests have arrived from around the world and governments are encouraging farmers to use fewer and fewer pesticides. The use of drones and artificial intelligence in the monitoring of orchards has taken a strong rise in recent years due to the advantages offered by efficiency, coverage, and price. A particularly dangerous insect in fruit production is the brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB). The paper seeks to look at a performance comparison in BMSB detection between three states of the art models of image detection and classification: MobileNetV2, Xception, and EfficientNet. Each network model was slightly modified being thus adapted for this application and the results obtained had high accuracy, between 97% and 99%. © 2023 IEEE.

This article presents a study on the use of photovoltaic panels for storing electrical energy intended to power an HVAC unit placed in a residential room. To highlight this aspect, two specific scenarios will be considered. Thus, we aim to analyze whether the generated and stored energy is sufficient to fulfil the thermal comfort requirements of the user, while also considering the primary objective of minimizing energy consumption. To achieve this goal, the HVAC unit will be controlled by implementing a fuzzy system that determines its optimal activation based on the comfort level obtained from the user. The fuzzy system presents as inputs both environmental parameters and specific personal perception parameters of the user. The research results provide an insight into the efficiency of implementing photovoltaic energy storage systems for residential applications and propose solutions for optimizing energy consumption in the context of ensuring adequate thermal comfort. Thus, the study contributes to the development of sustainable and personalized energy solutions for smart homes. © 2024 IEEE.

The paper aims to optimize the energy consumption of industrial robots, with the goal of reducing operational costs and improving the sustainability of the production process. The methods discussed include using energy-efficient components, reducing idle times, and optimizing robot trajectory programming to minimize unnecessary movements. The project presents a simulation of an industrial process for sorting and depalletizing parts using a KUKA KR 4 Agilus robot, along with Arduino development boards for control and coordination. A color sensor system is employed for object detection, optimizing the robot's movements based on the data collected. To analyze energy and time efficiency, two movement routines were compared: one based on SLIN and the other on SPTP. © 2024 IEEE.

D is a general purpose, high level and high performance, programming language capable of interfacing with the operating system API and system’s hardware. One of the core features of D is represented by ranges, a powerful and new approach of iterating through a set of elements. How-ever, being a state of the art feature, ranges are not used in the D ecosystem at their full potential. In this work we provide a new collections framework for the D Standard Library that is compatible with the existing algorithms and that provides an API similar to the one provided by ranges. Our implementation enables the collections to infer the safety of the operations from the contained, user provided, type. We show that our implementation may provide performance benefits of up to 2x compared to the existing standard library implementations, when used in conjunction with a custom allocator. © 2022, Politechnica University of bucharest. The proliferation of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) in various applications has necessitated the exploration of network architectures that can ensure efficient, scalable, and reliable communication. This study presents a comparative performance evaluation of traditional networking paradigms and Software-Defined Networking (SDN)-based architectures within WSN. Utilizing the Floodlight SDN controller and Mininet-WiFi emulator, we conducted a series of experiments across three different network topologies, varying the number of hosts and access points. The performance metrics focused on are average latency, packet loss percentage, and throughput. The results demonstrate a considerable improvement in all measured parameters under the SDN-based environment compared to the traditional setup. Specifically, SDN environments consistently showcased lower latency, minimal packet loss, and higher throughput, with the most notable difference observed in smaller network configurations. The findings suggest that SDN, with its centralized control plane, can significantly enhance the performance of WSNs, particularly in scenarios demanding rapid scalability and dynamic traffic management. This study underscores the potential of SDN architectures in optimizing WSN operations and lays the groundwork for future research in this domain. © 2024, Politechnica University of bucharest. Using photovoltaic (PV) systems connected in distribution and even transport grids increase the need for energy supply security. Energy Efficiency of PV power plants is a performance indicator as well as a fault detection method. control system topologies for grid connected PV power plants can increase the overall generation performance. Three types of plant control topologies with their benefits and drawbacks are compared. The paper also synthesizes the control requirements for each of the plant components cells/panels, inverter and grid connection point. The PV panel faults issue is tackled practically by designing a PVPP test bed for further application of the proposed fault detection algorithm. A 80kW rooftop PV plant is proposed for efficiency evaluation. A decision tree algorithm for power plant efficiency and fault detection is designed. Computation of the capacity factor is an energy efficiency indicator, as well as a detector for PV panel fault initiation by dust or objects covering the cells. A hierarchical control system architecture with a central level PLC and 4 inverters, each with several MPPT modules, one for each string is proposed. The fault tree algorithm will be implemented on the practical PV power plant test bed. © 2023 IEEE.

Phase contrast imaging is based on the refraction of the X-ray beam as it passes through the material and shows excellent results for biological tissues. In this paper, we present a new approach for a Python algorithm that can filtrate phase contrast images (attenuation, phase, and scattering) and improve the identification of the interest object. The images used in this work were obtained with a 5.66 m long Talbot-Lau interferometer with a record angular sensitivity of 0.82 µradians, a phase stepping procedure of 16 steps, and a mean energy of 30 keV. The sample used was 0.89 mm diameter fiber from an accredited mammographic phantom. The proposed algorithm extracts the attenuation, phase, and scattering images from the dataset using Fast Fourier Transform. For filtration, we implemented a non-linear filter (median) to eliminate the noise generated by the acquisition system and the projection processing and to improve the contrast. The results were analyzed by calculation of the contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR). © 2023, Politechnica University of bucharest. All rights reserved.
