Complex mineral raw materials processing is an essential operation in modern industry. Innovative technologies help in constant improving of the efficiency and performance. The paper presents a design of electromagnetic mill, its technological structure and control system. In comparison to conventional solutions, the electromagnetic mill is a fully automated system. It operates in more effective way. The proper selection of the physical and process parameters of the system is crucial for efficiency of the process. The device stands out because of its low energy consumption. The air stream ratio model has been presented for the dry grinding and classification unit with the electromagnetic mill. The concept of the grinding system is described along with indirect measurement methodology. Supervisory control algorithm based on the model structure is derived. © 2017

The need to secure property or restrict entrance in special areas by controlling access to them has always been extremely important for life safety and personal assets, as well as those of the organizations. Different mechanical or electronic door locks are available today using keypads and passwords, RFID devices, biometric data, in order to prevent unauthorized access in homes, research labs, banks, stores, etc. This paper presents a secure access control system based on a Raspberry Pi3 model B board connected to Internet via the local area network. The system monitors in real-time the front of the door using a camera and face recognition features, and notify the system administrator if anyone spends time in front of the door more than a specified limit. Registered users have allowed access and may unlock the door through a mobile application, as the identification may be done by face recognition, password, or fingerprint, subject of availability. The system administrator also has access to the camera captured frames and may unlock the door remotely per request. A web server running on the Raspberry Pi3 embedded system maintain a local database containing the registered user list and related data, as well as a log file that provide the system administrator detailed information about any detected and recorded events.

Byzantine music represents a vast and complex musical tradition which precedes contemporary Western music. Nowadays, it is used mostly within Eastern Christian churches. Few computer software applications deal with Byzantine music and the imperfect command of Byzantine music theory among singers often requires parallel classical notation staves. A software application written in C++ has been written, which enables the user to write simple musical scores using standard notation, as well as Byzantine music compositions using a subset of the specific Byzantine notation. The application can be used to produce transcriptions of Byzantine-notation compositions into their classical notation counterparts. Extensive data structures and algorithms for containing and manipulating the data, as well as interacting with the computer user, have been developed. Additionally, the application offers some serialization capabilities, as well as preliminary support for pitch tracking. By offering the functionality described above, the application is an example of modern technology being used to preserve cultural heritage.

controller Area Network (CAN) is the most used protocol for intra-vehicle communication between Electronic control Units (ECUs) for decades. Moreover, there are several implementations of industrial networks built on top of CAN, (i.e. CANopen and DeviceNet) that expanded even more its area of application to almost any industrial automation field. The growing needs for data in today's modern and safe applications led to CAN Flexible Data Rate (CAN FD) in order to increase the network throughput and pushed the data field of the CAN frames beyond the 1Mbps limit of the high speed CAN chips. A low cost CAN-USB interface application for dual CAN bus network monitoring, diagnose and maintenance is proposed which can be easily ported on any member of the ARM Cortex-M microcontroller family with built-in CAN or CAN-FD communication.

Heat Transfer Optimization of end Winding Rotor Generator by the Use of Modified Axial Spacer: A Case Study

This paper presents a case study of a rotor fault occurring in the rotor generator of a steam power plant located in Lontar, Banten Province, Indonesia. The steam power plant has 3 x 315 MV capacity and uses hydrogen in the cooling system. The issue arising during the operation was caused by heat transfer exceeding the normal level. The grounding of the rotor occurred through rising vibration and temperature, tripping the generator unit. During repairs, the axial spacer was replaced with a new model, where it is longer than the original, adding a bar spacer at a previously unavailable position and creating a cooling track profile. This is a case study on the replacement of the axial spacer model aimed at preventing the expansion of the winding, so as not to touch with each other, through the installation of a longer axial spacer and the addition of the spacer bar, and lastly adding the track profile to the cooling hydrogen gas flow thereby maximizing the cooling process from the end winding rotor generator. Heat transfer is an analysed parameter related to the model change of the axial spacer. The addition of a track cooling gas flow has been able to maximize the heat transfer process, which is simulated in this paper. The performance of the rotor generator increased through several parameters after the replacement of the axial spacer model.

The subject of the article is a simulation of heat affected components of a device for deep drawing by extreme conditions in vacuum by high temperatures required for forming of crystallization containers made from thin molybdenum sheets. The simulation is focused on the distribution of heat in particular components in relation with their shape. There are presented the design of working components and the boundary conditions of transient thermal simulations with the results. © 2018 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

Semantic segmentation (SS) provides the meaning of visual scenes, thus being a key stage for navigation and environment's perception. This paper presents a solution for SS compatible with assistive wearable systems equipped with color and depth cameras. In order to ensure a compact and robust description of input color-based images, both 2D and 3D features are extracted at superpixel level, after correcting the displacements of the camera by means of adequate rectifications. Random Forests (RF) are called for solving the classification problem. In this context, this paper introduces a multilayer RFbased classifier, including a separate layer for label correction. Additional two other correcting methods are proposed for the first layers of the classifier, i.e. a fast method investigating the majority label around each object, and several customizations of the graph cut algorithm using convenient cue weights. The performance of the suggested approach is experimentally verified on diverse urban street scenes.

The main goal of the paper is to study the equilibria of a nonlinear system, proving the existence and uniqueness of an equilibrium point in the positive ortant. We also provide numerically tractable conditions (by using Linear Matrix Inequalities techniques) to check the asymptotic stability of the equilibrium point. An illustrative numerical example is closing the paper along with some conclusions. © 2018, Politechnica University of Bucharest. All rights reserved.

Defect engineering in metal oxides presents a promising approach for tailoring material properties. This strategy enhances gas sorption, catalysis, and control over key physical characteristics such as bandgap, magnetic behavior, and electrical conductivity. Despite its potential, the role of defect engineering in advancing metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) gas-sensing performance remains underexplored. This review introduces defect engineering strategies, emphasizing their applications in gas sensing. Gas sensors play a vital role in environmental monitoring, industrial safety, healthcare, and in improving energy efficiency. The demand for advanced gas sensors has never been more critical, given the need for real-time, accurate, and cost-effective detection of pollutant gases. MOS-based gas sensors are widely used in air quality monitoring, industrial safety, and health diagnostics. Vacancies and defect architectures in MOS have been widely studied for their role in sensing performance, as they fundamentally influence sensor efficiency. The effectiveness of MOS sensors largely depends on the type and concentration of defects. This review introduces vacancies and defects in MOS, followed by an in-depth discussion of defect types, factors influencing defect formation, and their role in charge transport. Additionally, it examines the correlation between elemental chemical properties and defect chemistry. Special attention is given to the defect chemistry of metal oxides, including TiO₂, ZnO, Co₃O₄, ZrO₂, WO₃, and CeO₂. It concludes with an examination of surface engineering methods for defect control to improve gas-sensing capabilities. © 2024

Roy Thomas Fielding defined the term REST as an architectural style for distributed hypermedia based systems in the year 2000. Since this initial definition, the term itself became a buzzword used in almost any web-related development. From simple, basic web applications, to highly complex web service/microservice-based solutions, almost everyone and everything talks REST and RESTful. Moreover, the Web context implies that these developments are usually realised over HTTP. In this paper, we first analyse the impact of this architectural style on distributed application development. A careless application of this model and its underlying HTTP standards could severely impact on the overall quality of any RESTful based solution. Following, we submit our own model for user data and session handling tasks to illustrate the correct approach to RESTful web service design techniques. This model offers all the advantages of the aforementioned architectural style while providing the required functionality for the authentication and authorisation components of all web based applications.
