The paper presents a method for completing the logic synthesis stage of the design flow applied to a FPGA-like technology. The method presented is focused on combinatorial blocks included into the design, as the propagation delay associated to these blocks influences the performance of the future chip directly. It has to be said that the method presented in this paper is a heuristic technique, starting from the structure of the basic cell in a FPGA-like technology. The dedicated optimization tools perform the synthesis are using a library of simple logic functions, then run an algorithm for packing as many gates from the output netlist as possible using the physical resources of the technology.

Application of piezoelectric elements to active reduction of bending vibrations of the beams is known well in the literature. During vibrations, an external excitation may vary in the time domain, including its form in the frequency domain. It should have influence on their response. The problem of proper selection of the control parameter in the control algorithm used to reduce vibrations arises. In the article, simulations of a control algorithm based on detection of bending moment are analytically tested. The solution for the transient type of vibrations are obtained by the finite difference method (FDM). Analysis for two separated natural modes was performed. The analysis shows the possibility to design a control algorithm based on detection of the bending moment.

One of the biggest events promoting this idea is the Air Cargo Challenge (ACC) competition. In this paper the motivation for ACC participation and the overall procedure of CAD aided UAV design are presented. Ambient Intelligence is an active research field that studies embed- ding computing elements into the environment - Weiser's concept of disap- pearing computer. Practical experiments are complex to orchestrate, because of the technical expertise required in hardware, software engineering and machine learning. The entry barrier for running such an experiment is very high, requiring coordinated e orts at all levels in a research team, and an actual laboratory with sensors in order to collect the data. In this work, we show how the power of Amazon's EC2 cloud can be lever- aged in conjunction with a record and replay system for sensor data in order to allow researchers from anywhere in the world to run such experiments. The software infrastructure used for the experiments is open-source and freely available at https: // github. com/ ami-lab/ AmI-Platform . This platform is used in the AmI Laboratory (EF 210) of the University Po- litehnica of Bucharest.

The paper covers issue of conducting advanced research of electrical race car participating in international competition called Sileverline Corporate Challenge. Process of designing race cars in Silesian Greenpower team is aided by a professional engine test stand built particularly in purpose of this research. Phase of testing and simulation is an important part of the implementation of new technologies. Properly developed solutions and test procedures are able to significantly shorten development time and reduce design costs. Testing process must be controlled by a modular and flexible application, easy to modify and ensuring safety. This paper describes the concept of object-oriented programming in LabVIEW and exemplary architecture of object-oriented control application designed to control engine test stand of the electrical race car. Eventually, the task of application will be to steer the electromagnetic brake and the engine load torque to perform according to data from the actual race track. During the designing process of the car, minimizing energy losses and maximizing powertrain efficiency are the main aspects taken into consideration. One of the crucial issues to accomplish these goals is to maintain optimal performance of the motor by applying effective cooling. The paper covers the research verifying the effectiveness of the cooling system.

The variability of electromagnetic parameters of induction motors with deep-bar cage or solid rotors is represented, with a satisfactory approximation, by the machine secondary multi-loop equivalent circuit with constant lumped parameters. An estimation procedure of electromagnetic parameters of such an equivalent circuit is presented in the paper. The procedure is carried out using the measured frequency characteristic determined on the basis of instantaneous values of investigated induction motor electromechanical quantities. The study has been subjected to an induction motor with a solid rotor manufactured from the magnetic material, i.e. a machine characterized by a significant skin effect occurring in rotor solid conductive elements.
