This paper presents an application of a mixture of Hidden Markov Models (HMMs) as a tool for verification of IoT fuel sensors. The IoT fuel sensors report the level of fuel in tanks of a petrol station, and are a key component for monitoring system reliability (billing), safety (fuel/oil leak detection) and security (theft prevention). We propose an algorithm for learning a mixture of HMMs based on a continual learning principle, i.e. it adapts the model while monitoring a sensor over time, signalling unexpected or anomalous sensor reports. We have tested the proposed approach on a real-life data of 15 fuel tanks being monitored with the FuelPrime system, where it has shown a very good performance (average area under ROC curve of 0.94) of detecting anomalies in the sensor data. Additionally we show that the proposed method can be used for trend monitoring and present qualitative analysis of the short and long term learning performance. The proposed method has promising performance score, the resulting model has a high degree of explainability, limited memory and computation requirements and can be easily generalized to other domains of sensor verification. © 2023 Polish Information Processing Society.

In the last three years, a new partner has emerged for teachers and educators in the field of education. The mushrooming of applications based on large language models has greatly shaped the educational development fields of the present era. The use of various AI applications has become commonplace among students and teachers alike. Many questions are being raised by researchers in this field. What does the rapid development of AI applications bring to the field of pedagogy? Should the products of such applications be compared with human performance? The form presented in this thesis seeks to answer similar questions. What is the impact of frequent use of these applications on the literacy level of individuals? In which areas do students tend to use these applications? The results indicate that half of the students believe their literacy levels will decrease with the mass emergence of AI applications, while 36% feel it will not change. However, 88 % of students have already dealt with AI-based applications, with 64 % using them several times or more, suggesting a high level of integration into their educational processes.

During the COVID19 epidemic, people of all ages from all walks of life around the world have become inevitably familiar with and almost dependent on the digital tools of the age and the opportunities they offer. A change had to take place very quickly that was unprecedented. This process has also affected education. During the time of the reading lock-in, there was a proliferation of digital curricular content. The second time around, online education came to the fore, thanks to less or well-functioning online platforms, and has since become part of everyday teaching. What is the effectiveness and usefulness of sharing knowledge in this way? Is literacy still needed at all? Can online and hybrid (a controlled mix of face-to-face and online) education replace the well-established contact and face-to-face education? The study show that the respondents believe that online education has had an impact on literacy and that it is perceived to have a positive impact. The results indicate that online education has a positive impact on the literacy levels of students, as it facilitates knowledge acquisition and enhances digital literacy skills.

Euler Lagrange Skeletal Animation (ELSA) is the novel and fast model for skeletal animation, based on the Euler Lagrange equations of motion and configuration and phase space notion. Single joint’s animation is an integral curve in the vector field generated by those PDEs. Considering the point in the phase space belonging to the animation at current time, by adding the vector pinned to this point and multiplied by the elapsed time, one can designate the new point in the phase space. It defines the state, especially the position (or rotation) of the joint after this time elapses. Starting at time 0 and repeating this procedure N times, there is obtained the approximation, and if the N→ ∞ the integral curve itself. In order to achieve a highly accurate estimation of solar energy resource potential,a novel hybrid ensemble-learning approach,hybridizing Advanced Squirrel-Search Optimization Algorithm(ASSOA)and support vector regression,is utilized to estimate the hourly tilted solar irradiation for selected arid regions in ***-term measured meteorological data,including mean-air temperature,relative humidity,wind speed,alongside global horizontal irradiation and extra-terrestrial horizontal irradiance,were obtained for the two cities of Tamanrasset-and-Adrar for two *** computational algorithms were considered and analyzed for the suitability of *** two new algorithms,namely Average Ensemble and Ensemble using support vector regression were developed using the hybridization *** accuracy of the developed models was analyzed in terms of five statistical error metrics,as well as theWilcoxon rank-sum and ANOVA *** the previously selected algorithms,K Neighbors Regressor and support vector regression exhibited good ***,the newly proposed ensemble algorithms exhibited even better *** proposed model showed relative root mean square errors lower than 1.448%and correlation coefficients higher than *** was further verified by benchmarking the new ensemble against several popular swarm intelligence *** is concluded that the proposed algorithms are far superior to the commonly adopted ones.

The study of electric vehicles (EVs) aims to address the critical challenges of promoting widespread adoption. These challenges include EVs’ high upfront costs compared to conventional vehicles, the need for more sufficient charging stations, limitations in battery technology and charging speeds, and concerns about the distance EVs can travel on a single charge. This paper is dedicated to designing an innovative strategy to handle EV charging station arrangement issues in different cities. Our research will support the development of sustainable transportation by intelligently replying to the challenges related to short ranges and long recharging times through the distribution of fast and ultra-fast charge terminals by allocating demand to charging stations while considering the cost variable of traffic congestion. A hybrid combination of Dynamic Greylag Goose Optimization (DGGO) algorithm, as well as a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model, is employed in this approach to determine, in a cost-sensitive way, the location of the parking lots, factoring in the congestion for traffic as a variable. This study examines in detail the experiments on the DGGO + LSTM model performance for the purpose of finding an efficient charging station place. The results show that the DGGO + LSTM model has achieved a stunning accuracy of 0.988,836, more than the other models. This approach shapes our finding’s primary purpose of proposing solutions in terms of EV charging infrastructure optimization that is fully justified to the EV’s wide diffusion and mitigating of the environmental consequences. The paper discusses a data science competition centered around the development of an anomaly detection system for IoT devices. The competition utilized a unique environment that allowed for the operation and monitoring of real IoT devices, including scheduling of attacks on these devices. The environment was used to collect the data, which included both normal and attack-induced behavior of IoT devices. The paper presents the background of the competition, the top models submitted, and the competition results. The paper also includes a discussion about restrictions related to the use of synthetic attack data as input for constructing anomaly detection systems. © 2023 Polish Information Processing Society.

With rapid urbanization, smart cities have become essential for enhancing urban management and sustainability by integrating technological, social, and institutional innovations. Among these innovations, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications and electric vehicles (EVs) play a critical role in reducing carbon emissions and optimizing urban mobility. To address the existing gaps in holistic V2X integration, this paper presents a novel eco-assistive fog-based traffic management system (EAFTMS) that leverages a four-tier architecture (IoT, fog, cloud, and application) for scalable, real-time traffic optimization. A key innovation of this system is the AI-driven point exchange system (PES), designed to incentivize sustainable behaviors such as reducing unnecessary vehicle usage and promoting green lifestyle choices. Unlike conventional models, the proposed framework incorporates real-time behavioral monitoring, rewards-based sustainability programs, and V2X-enabled dynamic traffic control. Empirical validation demonstrates that EAFTMS outperforms existing models, including support vector regression (SVR), achieving a 30% reduction in latency, a 40% improvement in response time, a 25% increase in traffic flow efficiency, and a 35% reduction in CO2 emissions. These results highlight the framework’s potential to set new standards in intelligent green cities by offering scalable, practical, and environmentally impactful solutions to urban transportation challenges. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.

This study presents a dipper-throated-based ant colony optimization (DTACO) with the Seasonal Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average with eXogenous factor (SARIMAX) model (DTACO+SARIMAX) to forecast monkeypox cases. The work optimizes the SARIMAX model using grid search cross-validation and fine-tunes its hyperparameters using DTACO to improve prediction accuracy. The suggested model's consistency and accuracy are considerable compared to previous studies. Comparisons with state-of-the-art models validate the proposed model's predictions. DTACO+SARIMAX can be used to control disease and monitor monkeypox. Healthcare organizations and governments can better manage and track the pandemic's course by offering accurate predictions, reducing public panic, and enabling effective pandemic planning. The Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests are conducted on the proposed DTACO-SARIMAX model and compared models.
