An Architecture to use Easy Java-Javascript Simulations in New Devices

Nowadays, virtual and remote laboratories play an important role in the students' learning process. For distance education in scientific areas, where the laboratories are an essential part, this importance is especially relevant. In the last years, the newly discovered Java vulnerabilities and the new devices which do not support Java applications (tablets and smart-phones), make even harder to run or develop these laboratories as Java applications. On the one hand, a non-digitally signed applet cannot be run in a web browser or in a smart-phone. On the other hand, portable devices, like a pc-tablet, have limited computation resources, and sometimes it is not enough to run complex simulations. EjsS (Easy Java-Javascript Simulations) is an open source tool used for creating all kind of simulations by introducing the equations of the model, and building a graphical user interface (GUI) for the application. This work presents a solution to the two previous problems that appear when using EjsS. Both are resolved using a Java model that runs in a server and takes the heavier computational load. This Java model is linked with a Javascript GUI in the client device. The link is based on a web-socket connection between server and client using a JSON format. The proposed solution has additional advantages, such as the possibility of multiple users working with the same model, or reusing an already existing Java application by just building a new Javascript view. © 2015, IFAC (International Federation of Automatic Control) Hosting by Elsevier Ltd. This paper presents a new idea of hiding many secrets using fuzzy vault schemes. In this approach with each secret is linked corresponding key in the form of unordered set. The requirement that these sets have to satisfy is disjunctiveness. For an unauthorized user multi-secret form of fuzzy vault is identical as standard one. During revealing, depending on used key, corresponding secret is decoded. Described concept is suitable for using with biometrics. It can also work in cooperation with false steganography where every biometric trait encodes different steganographic key.

The problem of computer-supported tools application in didactic process in the engineer education on the example of teaching of electrical engineering was described. Especially laboratory activities engage different tools which were created by information and communication technologies development. The idea of mixed electrical engineering laboratory groups, where the members of the group receive different tasks, was proposed. In the paper authors focus on two major problems. Firstly, the analysis of the impact of computer-supported tools used in laboratory classes on students' understanding of electrical phenomena is presented. Secondly, the students' assessment of such classes compared with traditional classes is elaborated. In the article authors focus on practical activities which are carried out during the laboratory classes of electrical engineering at AGH University of Science and Technology, Krakow, Poland.

The importance of developing ambient assisted living technologies (AALT), intended to monitor elderly person activity in their home environment, increases in recent years. Among many approaches, systems based on the optical observation have became popular. Consequently, there is a need of developing robust and fast video analysis platforms and algorithms. In this paper, we propose the use of wearable cameras to monitor the daily activities of the elderly. The novelty of our approach is to analyze gathered data in real-time on wearable platform (without the need of storing video data) and consequently minimize privacy issues. We focus on the person localization in indoor environment, using natural landmark images taken whilst walking inside building during calibration procedure. The hypothesis that wearable video surveillance systems can be used to infer location (and thus detect and monitor the activity of an elderly person) has been confirmed by preliminary tests and results. However, still there are many issues to be solved and therefore further research and development of the proposed solution is planned.

Nowadays, control systems in outdoor and street lighting installations are more and more popular. Many of the outdoor lighting installations exist in direct precincts of buildings with building automation and control systems (BACS). In this paper we present case study with an experimental BACS of outdoor lighting system based on international standard ISO/IEC 14908. The event-based paradigm is the key feature of it. Following the event-based approach we have organized integrated platform to control our experimental outdoor lighting system. In our experiments we have been focused on communication reliability, easy integration of the control system and energy consumption reduction. We describe proposed functional strategies, the performed experiments and analyse the results. The first stages of this evaluation have shown that the event-based BACS provide higher comfort and energy reduction in the outdoor lighting.

This article presents a method of steganographic keys generation for case of embedding many secrets in single container. The most important requirements of proposed algorithm are as follows. The generated keys cannot overlap what means that the positions they indicate in the cover have to be different. An authorized user with known key should be able to easily retrieve any secret from carrier file without necessity of extracting all other messages. Additionally secret data needs to be scattered in carrier randomly. The proposed algorithm can be applied to any method in which the capacity is fixed and can be expressed as a sequence of positions. It is suitable to use with multi-secret steganography in which many messages are embedded in one container, especially with techniques of substitution or cover lookup.

WiMAX is a broadband wireless last mile technology providing high speeds for long distances and offering great flexibility. Scheduling in WiMAX became one of the most important tasks, because it is responsible for distributing available resources among users. A high level of quality of service and scheduling support is one of the most interesting features of the WiMAX standard. In modern telecommunication networks the access control techniques are widely used. That is because using such devices instead of traditional ones permits to increase accuracy and reliability of control. Fuzzy systems have replaced conventional techniques in many engineering applications, especially in control systems. In the article it is suggested to use a fuzzy controller for access control in WiMAX networks that allows avoiding congestion in networks. The main objective of this work is providing an implementation of the WiMAX standard using the dynamic fuzzy logic based priority scheduler. We propose to use a fuzzy controller having three input and one output linguistic variables. Input linguistic variables of the controller are waiting time, queue length and packet size, its output variable is priority. A block diagram of the fuzzy controller was developed. Linguistic variables, terms and membership functions for input and output values have been defined. The Waiting time linguistic variable has three terms: low, medium, high. The Queue length linguistic variable has three terms: short, medium, long. The Packet size linguistic variable has three terms: small, medium, large. The rules base consisting of twenty-seven rules has been developed. The fuzzy controller has been simulated using Matlab 6.5. Results of the simulation prove the accuracy and reliability of the fuzzy-controller's model.
