This paper presents a design and measurements of multichannel integrated circuits dedicated to recording of neurobiological signals. 64 recording channels have been implemented in a single chip using a commercially available CMOS 180 nm process. A single recording amplifier consumes only 25 μW from 1.8 V supply and occupies 0.13 mm 2 of the silicon area. Its main parameters such as the low/high cut off frequencies and the voltage gain are controlled thanks to the on-chip register. User is able to change the low cut off frequency in the 60 mHz - 100 Hz range in each channel independently while the high cut off frequency and the voltage gain can be set to 4.7 kHz / 12 kHz and 139 V/V / 1100 V/V respectively. The input referred noise depends on the bandwidth of the recording channel and is equal to 3.7 μV (100 Hz - 12 kHz) or to 7.6 μV (3 Hz - 12 kHz). This paper deals with problems that are present in a multichannel integrated recording electronics for neurobiology experiments such as: ability to record input signals in the frequency range below a single Hz, and the spread of the cut off frequencies from channel to channel in such systems. Up to our knowledge the solution presented in this paper is the first one reporting the multichannel IC that is able both to record extremely low frequency signals in each channel with a small spread of this parameter from channel to channel.

The future Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) will consist of several tens of telescopes of different mirror sizes. CTA will provide next generation sensitivity to very high energy photons from few tens of GeV to > 100 TeV. Several focal plane instrumentation options are currently being evaluated inside the CTA consortium. In this paper, the current status of the FlashCam prototyping project is described. FlashCam is based on a fully digital camera readout concept and features a clean separation between photon detector plane and signal digitization/triggering electronics.

In this paper two different methods for non-technical losses (NTL) detection are analyzed and new approach is proposed, based on the noticed drawbacks. It is shown that NTL can be successfully detected by a neural network trained by “artificial”, i.e., generated samples. This approach eliminates the need for many hard-to-obtain real life samples and the network can easily be trained to detect some new, non-typical occurrences in the system. This makes the proposed solution suitable for large companies that supply many different consumers who possibly change their consumption habits.

The article presents the principle of operation and selected results of simulation and laboratory tests of the 18-pulse converter system with direct voltage output, cooperating with a small series active power filter (S-APF). The presented system makes it possible to reduce, especially in autonomous supply networks, undesired higher harmonics in the network current. The 18-pulse nature of operation of the rectifier is reached using a set of coupled three-phase network reactors (CDT and CTR). Simultaneous use of the magnetically coupled reactors and the small active power filter provides opportunities for easy and cheap reduction of the supply current THD coefficient, down to the values acceptable by clean power converters (CPC) conditions.

The aim of this research was to use nanocrystalline TiO 2 and TiO 2 : Cr (0.1–10 at. % Cr) obtained by Flame Spray Synthesis, FSS, for hydrogen sensing. Morphological properties of nanopowders were investigated by Brunauer–Emmett–Teller, BET, adsorption isotherms, X-ray Diffraction, XRD, Scanning Electron Microscopy, SEM, and Transmission Electron Microscopy, TEM. Nanosensors were prepared in a form of circular tablets by pressing the nanopowder at the pressure of 25 MPa and heating up to 400 o C. Dynamic changes in the electrical resistance ΔR/R o upon hydrogen exposure were detected over low-to- medium concentration range of 50-3000 ppm at 200-400 o C. The influence of particle size and Cr content on the sensor response was studied.

This report focuses on the problem of temperature influence on one of the most basic analog circuitry subsystem - a current mirror, based on MOSFET transistors. Basic and cascode current mirrors are put to a simulation test using a SPICE model. The future Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) will consist of several tens of telescopes of different mirror areas. CTA will provide next generation sensitivity to very high energy photons over a wide energy range from few tens of GeV to >100 TeV. The signals of the photon detectors in the focal plane will be read out with custom-designed, fast digitization and triggering electronics. Within CTA, several camera electronics options are being evaluated. The FlashCam approach is unique here since data processing inside the camera is fully digital. Signal digitization and trigger processing are jointly performed in one single readout chain per detector pixel. For a group of pixels, such a chain consists of Flash ADCs and a Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) module, both commercially available and reasonably priced. A camera-wide event trigger is subsequently computed in separate trigger units. The camera data is transferred from the cameras over ethernet to a central computer farm using a custom network protocol. Such a fully digital approach using state-of-the-art components provides accurate triggering and an easily scalable architecture in a cost-effective way. The FlashCam team is also evaluating the concept of a horizontal camera integration. Here, the photon detector plane is sustained by a monolithic carrier holding photon detectors, high voltage supplies, and preamplifiers only. The signal digitization and triggering electronics are organized in boards and crates which are kept at the rear side of the camera body. Such an approach allows different photon detectors to be adopted and might result in cost saving.

A steady-state model with saturation is considered because all the experimental data have been obtained in steady-state tests. A model for the traction squirrel-cage induction motor containing the stator leakage reactance saturation, rotor leakage reactance saturation and magnetizing reactance is employed and a simulation is performed considering it. © 2010 IEEE.
