This paper describes the design and fabrication of an intelligent Irrigation control system that allows intelligent control of the water applied to the field at right amounts and times. The system should have the capabilities to measure the water content in the soil so water can be applied as needed. The WATERMARK soil moisture sensor based on the measurement of the soil tension will provide the measurement of the water content. The system measures the soil tension, soil temperature and rain status and records the data in a file for future reference. It will apply water to field if a certain level of soil water tension is reached. This intelligent Irrigation control system is suitable for universities, research centers and farms where a control of the soil water content is required. The system can be used to study the water requirements for crops so irrigation can be scheduled efficiently.

This report focuses on the problem of temperature influence on one of the most basic analog circuitry subsystem- a current mirror, based on MOSFET transistors. Basic and cascode current mirrors are put to a simulation test using a SPICE model. The influence of different temperature distributions on output current precision and output resistance are investigated.

A high-efficiency Line Start Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (LSPMSM) is designed in the paper to meet efficiency requirements, which can be expected for motors of a class IE4 in a new standard classification. A magnetically linear analytical model of the LSPMSM has been developed, and investigated, to be a main part of a synthesis program. The task to find a best design solution has been defined as a bi-criterial optimization problem, with criterial functions representing the interest of both the producer and end user. Calculation results were validated by means of a magnetically non-linear FEM model, before and after the optimization. A high level of conformity has been attained. Results for all efficiency classes, IE1 - IE4, have been presented. A proposed Class IE4 motor offers particularly high savings of total electrical energy. All obtained designs satisfy requirements arising from the geometry, physics, and manufacturing process.

The paper is oriented toward systems, network, and security administrators with some degree networking experience who are looking to expand their knowledge of networking solutions as a mean of informing their approach to Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) and MPLS VPNs. This orientation makes for a fairly broad audience and is reflected in the breadth of the material presented.

Security has become the forefront of network management and implementation. The challenge in the security issue is to find a well balanced situation between two of the most important requirements: the need of developing networks in order to sustain the evolving business opportunities and work level, and the need to protect classified, private and in some cases even strategic information. The application of an effective security policy is the most important step that an institution can take to protect its network. Networks have grown in both size and importance in a very short period of time. If the security is compromised, there could be serious consequences starting from theft of information, loss of privacy and reaching even bankruptcy of that institution. The types of potential threats to network are continuously evolving and must be at least theoretical known in order to fight them back, as the rise of wireless networks implies that the security solution become seamlessly integrated, more flexible.
A framework of three attributes for video surveillance systems is underlined: availability, accessibility and authenticity. Under this framework, a scenario in which surveillance cameras can be accessed by remote devi...

This paper presents a novel method of modeling spatial communication activity in wireless sensor network (WSN). We define native aspects of communication in WSN. Focusing on local/global activity dilemma, cooperation, interference, network topology, and optimization aspects. A neighborhood abstraction is defined and we involve three binary relations: subordination, tolerance and collision to describe the cooperation in WSN. Using digital terrain model tools we model communication activity aspects as surfaces, stretched over WSN network. A network topology features are modeled using bare drainage surface. It is a component of a topographic map, which gives a direction towards the base station, determined by a slope of the modeled surface. Modeling node's instant energy level, we construct another surface represents node's instant level of consumed energy. Finally, we construct a drainage surface spread over each node neighborhood as superposition of bare drainage surface, energy consumed and relational surfaces.

This paper presents the design and measurements of a low noise multi-channel front-end electronics for recording extra-cellular neuronal signals using microelectrode arrays. The integrated circuit contains 64 readout channels and was fabricated in CMOS 0.18 mum technology. A single readout channel is built of an AC coupling circuit at the input, a low noise preamplifier, a band-pass filter and a second amplifier. In order to reduce the number of output lines, the 64 analog signals from readout channels are multiplexed to a single output by an analog multiplexer. The chip is optimized for low noise and matching performance with the possibility of cut-off frequencies tuning. The low cut-off frequency can be tuned in the 1 Hz - 60 Hz range and the high cut-off frequency can be tuned in the 3.5 kHz -15 kHz range. For the nominal gain setting at 44 dB and power dissipation per single channel of 220 muW the equivalent input noise is in the range from 6 muV - 11 muV rms depending on the band-pass filter settings. The chip has good uniformity concerning the spread of its electrical parameters from channel to channel. The spread of gain calculated as standard deviation to mean value is about 4.4% and the spread of the low cut-off frequency is on the same level. The chip occupies 5times2.3 mm 2 of silicon area.
