Parkinson’s disease ranks as the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder globally. This research aims to develop a system leveraging Mixed Reality capabilities for tracking and assessing eye movements. In this paper, we present a medical scenario and outline the development of an application designed to capture eye-tracking signals through Mixed Reality technology for the evaluation of neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, we introduce a pipeline for extracting clinically relevant features from eye-gaze analysis, describing the capabilities of the proposed system from a medical perspective. The study involved a cohort of healthy control individuals and patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease, showcasing the feasibility and potential of the proposed technology for non-intrusive monitoring of eye movement patterns for the diagnosis of neurodegenerative *** relevance— Developing a non-invasive biomarker for Parkinson’ s disease is urgently needed to accurately detect the disease’s onset. This would allow for the timely introduction of neuroprotective treatment at the earliest stage and enable the continuous monitoring of intervention outcomes. The ability to detect subtle changes in eye movements allows for early diagnosis, offering a critical window for intervention before more pronounced symptoms emerge. Eye tracking provides objective and quantifiable biomarkers, ensuring reliable assessments of disease progression and cognitive function. The eye gaze analysis using Mixed Reality glasses is wireless, facilitating convenient assessments in both home and hospital settings. As cloud computing usage grows, cloud data centers play an increasingly important role. To maximize resource utilization, ensure service quality, and enhance system performance, it is crucial to allocate tasks and manage performance effectively. The purpose of this study is to provide an extensive analysis of task allocation and performance management techniques employed in cloud data centers. The aim is to systematically categorize and organize previous research by identifying the cloud computing methodologies, categories, and gaps. A literature review was conducted, which included the analysis of 463 task allocations and 480 performance management papers. The review revealed three task allocation research topics and seven performance management methods. Task allocation research areas are resource allocation, load-Balancing, and scheduling. Performance management includes monitoring and control, power and energy management, resource utilization optimization, quality of service management, fault management, virtual machine management, and network management. The study proposes new techniques to enhance cloud computing work allocation and performance management. Short-comings in each approach can guide future research. The research's findings on cloud data center task allocation and performance management can assist academics, practitioners, and cloud service providers in optimizing their systems for dependability, cost-effectiveness, and scalability. In vehicular ad hoc network (VANET), which is considered as a type of mobile ad hoc network (MANET), communication occurs between neighbor vehicles and also roadside equipment and vehicles. Due to the characteristics of VANET, there are chances of a number possible attack in this network. In this paper, an anomaly detection system that uses clustering and fuzzy set theory to defend the Denial of Service (DoS) attack is presented. Results of simulation represent that the proposed algorithm arrives to the high detection rate. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The development of innovation technology requires one to provide control processes with better quality indexes. In modern control theory, the algorithms for calculating linear-quadratic regulator (LQR) for linear dynamic systems are known. The classical LQR algorithms do not take into account transport delays of the signals or uncertainty of measured values and models, which causes the task of stabilizing physical systems by classical LQR algorithm to contain significant errors which decrease quality indexes. Most control systems are non-linear, not isolated from the uncertainty of measured values and models. For this reason, in the paper the possibility of calculating a linear-quadratic regulator for non-linear systems, which will provide stability in a wider environment around the reference point for additive noise based on the high-gain disturbance correction observer, are proposed. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The acquisition of whole slide images is prone to artifacts that can require human control and re-scanning, both in clinical workflows and in research-oriented settings. Quality control algorithms are a first step to overcome this challenge, as they limit the use of low quality images. Developing quality control systems in histopathology is not straightforward, also due to the limited availability of data related to this topic. We address the problem by proposing a tool to augment data with artifacts. The proposed method seamlessly generates and blends artifacts from an external library to a given histopathology dataset. The datasets augmented by the blended artifacts are then used to train an artifact detection network in a supervised way. We use the YOLOv5 model for the artifact detection with a slightly modified training pipeline. The proposed tool can be extended into a complete framework for the quality assessment of whole slide *** relevance— The proposed method may be useful for the initial quality screening of whole slide images. Each year, millions of whole slide images are acquired and digitized worldwide. Numerous of them contain artifacts affecting the following AI-oriented analysis. Therefore, a tool operating at the acquisition phase and improving the initial quality assessment is crucial to increase the performance of digital pathology algorithms, e.g., early cancer diagnosis.

Cancer is a widespread global health problem, claiming millions of lives each year, and skin cancer represents a significant threat as it is one of the most common types. Early tumor detection via medical imaging is critical for effective treatment. Leveraging artificial intelligence, particularly novel models like Transformers, presents promising avenues for improved diagnosis. This paper explores the efficacy of a Collective Intelligence approach using AI in classifying cancerous and non-cancerous tumors, aiming to reduce classification errors and support clinical decision-making. We created five different configurations using various datasets to compare the results. The results show solid performance for the CI in the evaluated tasks, reaching up to 75.89% accuracy. The lack of images in certain classes significantly contributes to overfitting. It is suggested to explore data expansion strategies and improve consistency in image capture for future work.

The demand for fast and intelligent optimization methods is constantly growing. Owing to this, new methods based on the behaviour of living organisms are being developed. This article proposes a modification of the classic firefly algorithm based on the acceptance of each movement of a firefly, that provide more accurate values of an objective function. In addition, the algorithm also involves a reduced value of a coefficient, α, in each of its iterations. The effectiveness of the modification is examined using typical test functions. The modification allows for finding the correct solution faster and more accurately. This improvement is achieved at the expense of the algorithm’s sensitivity to a selection parameter, αdamp, which affects the speed at which the value of α decreases. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Through the observation and analysis of the motion trajectory of spiral winding motion for slender legless biological creatures in water,V-REP software is adopted to build a dynamic simulator to study on the mechanism of spiral winding swimming(SWS)*** using the output of spiral function(SF),the dynamic simulation model of slender legless creature(SLC)realizes the SWS motion in *** corresponding experiments under the control of different bending angle of SF to control the dynamic model are also carried out to analyze the water performance of SWS in still *** with the output of two different bending angles of the spiral function,the dynamic model can be used to realize SWS and up/down *** work provides technical reserve and experimental platform for the corresponding study in related fields.

The goal of building a system for precise time measurement in pixel radiation detectors motivates the development of flexible design and verification environment. It should be suitable for quick simulations when individual elements of the system are developed and should be scalable so that systemlevel verification is possible as well. The approach presented in this paper is to utilize the power of SystemVerilog language and apply basic Object-Oriented Programming concepts to the test program. Since the design under test is a full-custom mixed-signal design, it must be simulated with AMS simulator and various features of analog design environment are used as well (Monte Carlo analysis, corner analysis, schematic capture GUI-related functions). The presented approach combines these two worlds and should be suitable for small academia projects, where design and verification is seldom done by separate teams.

Sea Horse Optimizer (SHO) is a noteworthy metaheuristic algorithm that emulates various intelligent behaviors exhibited by sea horses, encompassing feeding patterns, male reproductive strategies, and intricate movement patterns. To mimic the nuanced locomotion of sea horses, SHO integrates the logarithmic helical equation and Levy flight, effectively incorporating both random movements with substantial step sizes and refined local exploitation. Additionally, the utilization of Brownian motion facilitates a more comprehensive exploration of the search space. This study introduces a robust and high-performance variant of the SHO algorithm named mSHO. The enhancement primarily focuses on bolstering SHO’s exploitation capabilities by replacing its original method with an innovative local search strategy encompassing three distinct steps: a neighborhood-based local search, a global non-neighbor-based search, and a method involving circumnavigation of the existing search region. These techniques improve mSHO algorithm’s search capabilities, allowing it to navigate the search space and converge toward optimal solutions efficiently. To evaluate the efficacy of the mSHO algorithm, comprehensive assessments are conducted across both the CEC2020 benchmark functions and nine distinct engineering problems. A meticulous comparison is drawn against nine metaheuristic algorithms to validate the achieved outcomes. Statistical tests, including Wilcoxon’s rank-sum and Friedman’s tests, are aptly applied to discern noteworthy differences among the compared algorithms. Empirical findings consistently underscore the exceptional performance of mSHO across diverse benchmark functions, reinforcing its prowess in solving complex optimization problems. Furthermore, the robustness of mSHO endures even as the dimensions of optimization challenges expand, signifying its unwavering efficacy in navigating complex search spaces.
