Time perception is one of the factors that affect work efficiency and performance at work, especially during isolation, especially in space. In this study we present an idea of improvement of time perception measurement using Android OS based app for time perception measurement and work efficiency evaluation. The app was implemented using MVVM architecture and offered two tasks - passive and active time perception. In both tasks simple shape appeared and disappeared on the screen after given amount of time. In the first task, user had to guess and type how much time passed when the shape has been visible, in the second he was asked to hold the button for the same amount of time. Each analog astronaut had to perform a time perception test each day during their mission. All the results have been sent and analysed on the server. Authors propose also methods for work efficiency measurement - using the questionnaire or specially designed app. Work efficiency and subjective time perception also depended on analog astronauts physical activity which we observed based on the results. Finally, the role of Mission Control Center crew has been discussed, as well as its impact on work efficiency and time perception. Advanced modern technology and industrial sustainability theme have contributed implementing composite materials for various industrial applications. Green composites are among the desired alternatives for the green products. However, to properly control the performance of the green composites, predicting their constituents properties are of paramount importance. This work presents an innovative evolving genetic programming tree models for predicting the mechanical properties of natural fibers based upon several inherent chemical and physical properties. Cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin and moisture contents as well as the Microfibrillar angle of various natural fibers were considered to establish the prediction models. A one-hold-out methodology was applied for training/testing phases. Robust models were developed to predict the tensile strength, Young's modulus, and the elongation at break properties of the natural fibers. It was revealed that Microfibrillar angle was dominant and capable of determining the ultimate tensile strength of the natural fibers by 44.7% comparable to other considered properties, while the impact of cellulose content in the model was only 35.6%. This in order would facilitate utilizing artificial intelligence in predicting the overall mechanical properties of natural fibers without experimental efforts and cost to enhance developing better green composite materials for various industrial applications. © 2024, CC BY.

High-quality fluorescence imaging of biological systems is limited by processes like photobleaching and phototoxicity, and also in many cases, by limited access to the latest generations of microscopes. Moreover, low temporal resolution can lead to a motion blur effect in living systems. Our work presents a deep learning (DL) generative-adversarial approach to the problem of obtaining high-quality (HQ) images based on their low-quality (LQ) equivalents. We propose a generative-adversarial network (GAN) for contrast transfer between two different separate microscopy systems: a confocal microscope (producing HQ images) and a wide-field fluorescence microscope (producing LQ images). Our model proves that such transfer is possible, allowing us to receive HQ-generated images characterized by low mean squared error (MSE) values, high structural similarity index (SSIM), and high peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) values. For our best model in the case of comparing HQ-generated images and HQ-ground truth images, the median values of the metrics are 6·10-4, 0.9413, and 31.87, for MSE, SSIM, and PSNR, respectively. In contrast, in the case of comparison between LQ and HQ ground truth median values of the metrics are equal to 0.0071, 0.8304, and 21.48 for MSE, SSIM, and PSNR respectively. Therefore, we observe a significant increase ranging from 14% to 49% for SSIM and PSNR respectively. These results, together with other single-system cross-modality studies, provide proof of concept for further implementation of a cross-system biological image quality enhancement. © 2024, CC BY-SA.

In today's modern energy sector, driven more and more towards decentralization, which includes many smaller energy producers rather than huge government projects, security against cyber-attacks is becoming more crucial for the energy grid. Since many small energy plants do not have the resources to finance very expensive existing cyber-security systems, they often have no security system in place at all. Although with small energy producers, the risks of being under attack are not as devastating as in a huge power plants, they still pose a serious threat to the energy system and to the supply of electricity to whole regions. Moreover, in the era of technology, such cyber-attacks could be carried out simultaneously at many locations, thus risking the lack of electricity to larger areas. Since there was a clearly identified need for such an instrument, the SPEAR consortium, started to develop tailor made solution for different types of actors in the energy sector, to prevent such occurrences and help secure the energy system. One of the use cases, investigated in the project, is a real operating hydro power plant in the mountain area of Bulgaria called Leshnitsa, which will be one of the four sites to first test the functionality of the finished product. The plant had no previous cyber-security system in place and had already experienced one attack, where one of the computers in the plant was hacked and a ransom was demanded from the attackers to unlock it. Exactly events like this one are proof, that the energy sector has a need to protect the growing number of small independent actors in the energy system.. © 2020 IEEE.

This article is fulfilled within the framework of Erasmus+ project "The Future is in Applied Artificial Intelligence" (FAAI) and examines the study of practical solutions implemented using applied artificial intelligence. The research was done by preparing an online survey containing a total of 7 questions, open and closed. The purpose of the study is to find real working applications of applied artificial intelligence projects, describe their application in what field, and record the name of the projects found to describe their activity. The study was done by looking at cases all over the world. The analysis of the data provides insight in several directions:-in which countries are more real cases of artificial intelligence solutions used-what is the distribution of realized cases - depending on whether the country is a member of the EU or not EU.-In what category is the real case developed.-whether the country of the real case works in collaboration with other countries or implements the real case only the *** research and analysis done provide a clear picture of the developed projects using artificial intelligence. The obtained results will guide in what areas to organize the practical training. Also, the research would help future AI application developers.

Dynamics characterization of the glass formation of twist-bend liquid crystal dimers through dielectric studies

Broadband dielectric spectroscopy in a frequency range of 10 to 2× 109Hz were used to study the molecular orientational dynamics of the glass-forming, thioether-linked cyanobiphenyl liquid crystal dimers CBS7SCB and CBS7OCB. As was expected theoretically, two different relaxation processes that contributed to the dielectric permittivity of dimers were observed. The low-frequency relaxation mode, m1, was attributed to an "end-over-end rotation" of the dipolar groups parallel to the director. The high-frequency relaxation mode, m2, was associated with the precessional motions of the dipolar groups around the director. The relaxation times for both modes were analyzed over a wide temperature range down to near the glass transition temperature. The different analytic functions that were used to characterize the temperature dependence of the relaxation times of the two modes are discussed. Particularly, the critical-like description via the dynamic scaling model seemed to give not only quite good numerical fittings, but also provided a consistent physical picture of the orientational dynamics on approaching the glass transition. When compared to the IR spectroscopy finding, in the higher temperature region of NTBphase, where the longitudinal correlations of dipoles grew, the m1 mode experienced a sudden increase of enthalpy while m2 changed continuously, which is described by the critical mode coupling behavior. Both types of molecular motion appear to strongly cooperate at a low temperature range of the NTBphase, but changed in a coordinated manner as the temperature of the material approached the glass transition point. Miniaturized inductive sensors have measurement range of few millimeters and are used for accuracy within few micrometers. It is very crucial to maintain the accuracy of these sensors by magnetic shielding since their accuracy is influenced by presence of external magnetic field. In this paper study of magnetic shielding of a MEMS minimalized Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) has been presented, where pure iron has been used as the shieling material. The finite element analysis has been performed to investigate influence of external magnetic field of a permanent magnet on output voltage of the sensor. It has been demonstrated that incorporation of 300 $\mu$m thick pure iron shield spaced at distance of 5.0 mm from the sensor, ensures significant attenuation of error introduced due to presence of external magnetic field near the sensor.

Perspiration is a physiological response in high-stress situations, that also plays a key role in thermoregulation and stress management. Understanding perspiration patterns is used for assessing physiological responses and optimizing human performance especially in professions such as emergency medical services and military operations, as well as for individuals exposed to Isolated Confined Extreme (ICE) environments such as astronauts and space analog mission participants. This paper defines a Digital Twin (DT) model, that will be integrated with an existing physical sweat simulator module (SSM) prototype. Its goal is to simulate human perspiration under high-stress conditions by integrating environmental, physiological, and psychological data. The system architecture is developed via Model-Based Systems engineering (MBSE). The scope of the designed virtual model is to accurately reflect physical perspiration, detect abnormal perspiration patterns, and generate recommendations regarding stress countermeasures. The goal is to influence the behavioral and/or physiological state of the physical twin, thereby creating a dynamic, responsive system. Machine learning (ML) models will be used to identify patterns in the environmental, physiological, and psychological inputs and predict sweat volume, chemical composition, and regional sweat distributions across the body. ML will also be used to detect abnormal perspiration patterns based on input data. The application of generative AI for creating test data from simulation templates is anticipated to facilitate the comparative analysis of two to three distinct profiles, such as astronauts, soldiers, and paramedics or firefighters, using simulated values. The SSM, with its integrated sensors, will serve the dual purpose of validating the model and providing realistic physical simulation.

Accuracy of Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) is influenced due to presence of an external magnetic field. In this paper an experimental study is presented which uses a pure iron foil for magnetic shielding of the sensor. The pure iron used in the present study is manufactured with a novel method of electrodeposition, cold rolling and intermediate annealing in a controlled environment. The magnetic properties of the pure iron manufactured with the new method are characterized by Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) to determine initial magnetization and hysteresis curve. The pure iron material exhibits properties, which make it a suitable candidate material for magnetic shielding. Further, the pure iron foils are used for electromagnetic shielding of LVDT to ensure that incorporation of the shielding ensures reduction in the sensor error from 7.7% to 2.3% and minimizes the effect of an external magnetic field on the sensor performance.
