In the article a therapy selection method by using topological modelling and multi- objective optimization is presented. In a medicine practice a doctor by taking into the count patients' health state and laboratory results, tries to suggest a treatment strategy, which mostly is a drug therapy. To solve this task a decision support system has been developed and proposed. The system includes a mathematical model of three self connected diseases. Therapies are evaluated by five efficiency objectives. To find the optimal therapy, seven multi- objective methods are selected and used. Optimization methods form decision support module which is implemented in the medical computer system. To evaluate a performance of the system, test examples are analysed. Conclusion includes the summary and proposals of further research.

The paper presents a collision mitigation method in which the aim is to stabilize the motion of the vehicle after a light impact has occurred. A yaw rate servo control based on the bicycle model is applied for control purposes. The collision is assumed to have been detected by a passive safety system, e.g., airbag sensors. The control system is activated by the monitoring signal. After the collision has occurred the motion of the vehicle and the operation of the control system are illustrated through CarSim simulation examples. Two control solutions are analyzed: in the first case active steering is used while in the second case steering is combined with differential braking. With the knowledge of certain vehicle parameters and the impact force and direction, post impact vehicle states (yaw rate, velocities, roll rate) can be analyzed. A sensitivity analysis is carried out to determine the validity range of the vehicle model in the presence of uncertainties and different kinds of impact forces. Several software packages are used for the design and analysis of the controlled system. The control design is performed by using the Matlab/Simulink software and the verification of the designed controller is performed by using the CarSim software.

This paper presents a dual layer approach for robust fault tolerant estimation of nonlinear processes using a combined adaptive extended Kalman filter and fault detection and filter reconfiguration. From the one hand, the filter is made robust in face of environment uncertainty using adaptive filtering. To this end, the filter identifies the measurement covariance by means of recursive estimation, upon which the adaptation relies, to suppress the effect of sporadic variations in the quality of measurements as well as compensates for incipient sensor faults. From the other hand, fault monitoring is continuously applied to the filter's innovation in an attempt to initiate filter reconfiguration when the adaptation mechanism alone is not able to overcome the failure situation. The discussion of the results is embedded in the application framework of state estimation of a batch distillation process.

In this paper, design of Takagi-Sugeno controllers for a twin-rotor system from empirical data is addressed. First, identification of linear models using Prediction Error Method in the presence of nonlinear distortions and in feedback systems is revisited, and it is demonstrated that feedback nonlinear systems with an integral action can be locally represented by linear models rather than affine models. Moreover, it is demonstrated that how the consistency and unbiasedness of the identified models can be improved by proper design of the experiments. In order to ensure that the unmodeled contributions in the resulting piecewise linear model are sufficiently small, a criterion is proposed based on the small-gain theorem that can be used for unfalsification of the piecewise linear model. Finally, by taking advantage of the separation principle, design of fuzzy Takag-Sugeno state feedback and observer is formulated in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). The implementation results on the actual system demonstrate significant improvements with respect to the initial controller and previous work on similar systems.

This paper overviews recent advances in the field of switched fuzzy systems, switched systems whose subsystems are fuzzy systems, followed by the comparative study for this kind of systems. Starting with the basic ideas of switched fuzzy systems, the comparative study is aimed in introducing the diverse approaches in their model construction, as well as the challenges related with the stability analysis and stabilization of such systems. The last includes the issue of stability analysis and finding conditions for existence of switched fuzzy controllers which will stabilize the nonlinear system.

Tuning of controller is one of the most basic functions in controlengineering in obtaining optimal control parameters and hence achieving optimal dynamic responses of the system. The work presents the self-tuning PI controller that potential to auto-tune the controller parameters and adapting the changes in controlled process parameter for a MIMO system. The decentralized PI controller with an adaptive interaction algorithm is developed and tested to nonlinear multivariable wastewater treatment plant. It is aims to self-tune the PI control parameters in regulating the substrate and DO concentrations from a steady state operating point. It was observed that the proposed control structure and the tuning algorithm were successfully tracks the desired set-point with considerable effects in noisy environment.
