An infrared alcohol testing system based on differential absorption is presented. The technique relies on the fact that the breath alcohol gas has a unique, well-defined absorption characteristic within the infrared region of electromagnetic spectrum. It is used to detect the present and concentration of alcohol gas. The non-dispersive infrared gas detection principle is introduced in detail. Experiments show that the testing system has high precision, good environment adaptability, and its indication error and repeatability reach the China National Standards.

This paper investigates signal and system representations in special rational orthogonal bases of the Hardy space H 2 . These bases are derived from the Blaschke-group associated to the hyperbolic group SH(n) of matrices. Using the concept of the unitary group representations over H 2 , and the voice-transform, specific hyperbolic wavelet constructions - Blaschke-wavelets and the associated Blaschke-Fourier transform are constructed. State space representations of systems over hyperbolic groups are discussed, too, with the purpose to explore the perspectives of elaborating a unified system theory upon this conceptual base.

In societal system disputes and in direct conflict of interests, in particular, the decision making faces a basic situation resembles a combat-like situation (Figure 1). For each of the opponents (‘players’) has in mind and carries out own missions in the societal environment (Figure 2) Furthermore, two or more parties need to make decisions with fully or partially conflicting objectives when involved in a dispute or open conflict. And yet, by and large, decisions must be made under risk, uncertainty, and incomplete or fuzzy information based on adaptive perception knowledge (Figure 3), which may imply large amounts of linguistic and probabilistic information with missing data. In the case of two opponents, the synergy of fuzzy approach and matrix games seems rather effective for modelling such multi-criteria conflicting situations. This synergy is feasible provide the game equilibrium stability concept is conceived in compliance with an adequate uncertainty preference scheme of decision making. In the case of two scenarios or states of a conflict, the preference scheme for a given participating decision-maker has to include components for handling cases of one state strict preference over another state, equal preference between the states, and also uncertainty preference. The fuzzy modelling based procedure is employed to take into account some of the subjective attitudes of the decision makers that are difficult to model using classical game theory.

In societal applications of systems science where competition under conflicting interests is pertinent to, the decision making faces situations in which one must decide whether to cooperate or not with a competitor or opponent. The robust H_(infinity) control problem for the generator excitation system with the damping coefficient uncertainty and external disturbances, is addressed. Storage functions of the control system are constructed based on modified adaptive backstepping sliding mode control method and Lyapunov method. A nonlinear robust H_(infinity) controller and a parameter updating law are obtained simultaneously. The controller can not only attenuate the influences of external disturbances on the system output, but also has strong robustness for system parameters variation. Since the controller design is based completely on the nonlinear dynamic system without any linearization, the nonlinear property of the dynamic system is well preserved. The simulation results show that more rapid speed response and stronger robustness can be obtained by the proposed method than the conventional adaptive backstepping and adaptive backstepping sliding mode control methods.

This paper presents ontlology-based architecture for pattern recognition in the context of static source code analysis. The proposed system has three subsystems: parser, OWL ontologies and analyser. The parser subsystem translates the input coded to AST that is constructed as an XML tree. The OWL ontologies define code patterns and general programming concepts. The analyser subsystem constructs instances of the input code as ontology individuals and asks the reasoner to classify them. The experience gained in the implementation of the proposed system and some practical issues are discussed. The recognition system successfully integrates the knowledge representation field and static code analysis. resulting in greater flexibility of the recognition system.

The purpose of our research is to find algorithms for loading large maps on PDA and place on it the geographical location given by latitude and longitude. C++ and C# programming languages have been used for implementation. It was elaborated a software which runs on PDA with Windows Mobile 2003 OS and implements algorithms for finding the coordinate on a map represented like a TIF image. The application must localize the coordinates known by longitude and latitude over a given image in TIF format which can represent a map with scale 1:200000 or 1:25000. The map headers contain information that refers to map limit. An algorithm that permits map synchronization when the value of current map is out of limit it was necessary.

The scope of our research is finding a correlation between the correctness indicator and the reliability indicator for software programs. For this, the correctness and reliability indicators will be calculated for a simple program, written in C programming language. The computations will be made for each program version obtained by correcting different error type found in the testing process. Will be observed there is a closed correlation between correctness and reliability in the way that for an increasing of the correctness level there will also be a significant increase of the reliability level.
