The advanced research in robotics scientific discipline has produced a paradigm shift from the classical robot manipulator used only in industrial environment to the modern mobile robot viewed as an every day life ldquopartnerrdquo. This first objective of this paper is to offer a short but comprehensive history of the paradigm shifts that triggered the industrial robotics research advancements. The short list of paradigm shifts that are to be discussed include: computer integrated manufacturing and engineering systems (C.I.M.E. - 1976), flexible manufacturing systems (FMS - psila80), lean manufacturing (psila90), agile manufacturing, fractal and/or holonic manufacturing systems (psila90), intelligent manufacturing systems (2000). The second objective is to discuss generic design principles and architecture guidelines for the development of a complex robotic system. These include collaborative robotics, artificial intelligence, human-robot interaction, multi-agent systems, service oriented architecture.

In this paper, we propose a novel skeletonize method for multi width ribbon-like shapes. The two difference images with vertical and horizontal directions respectively are computed to locate the singularities of the original image. Then the gradient directions of these singularity points are computed. The skeletonization can be obtained by finding the centers of via pair wise singularity points using their gradient directions. The most attracting nature of this method is that it can handle multi width shapes, which is very difficult in conventional methods. The experimental results show that our method is a ldquogoodrdquo method closing to human conception.

In this paper, we propose a novel method for edge detection based on difference images. In order to increase the ability of difference images in direction detection, we propose a maximum modulus technique, whose singularities are located both by the gray differences and maximum gradient directions. That is, the singularities are located along the gradient directions with maximum difference modulus. The whole framework both on theory and application is given in this paper. Generally, learning systems suffer from a lack of an explicit and adaptable didactic design. Since E-Learning systems are digital by their very nature, their introduction rises the issue of modeling the didactic design in a way that implies the chance to apply Knowledge Engineering Techniques (like Machine Learning and Data Mining). A modeling approach called storyboarding, is outlined here. Storyboarding is setting the stage to apply Knowledge Engineering Technologies to verify and validate the didactics behind a learning process. Moreover, didactics can be refined according to revealed weaknesses and proven excellence and successful didactic patterns can be inductively inferred by analyzing the particular knowledge processing and its alleged contribution to learning success.

The need for large-scale data sharing between autonomous and possibly heterogeneous decentralized systems on the Web gave rise to the concept of P2P database systems. Decentralized databases are, however, not new. Whereas a definition for a P2P database system can be readily provided, a comparison with the more established decentralized models, commonly referred to as distributed, federated and multi-databases, is more likely to provide a better insight to this new P2P data management technology. Thus, in the paper, by distinguishing between db-centric and P2P-centric features, we examine features common to these database systems as well as other ad-hoc features that solely characterize P2P databases. We also provide a non-exhaustive taxonomy of the most prominent research efforts toward the realization of full-fledged P2P databases.

Through the motion control experiment using Industrial Emulator(Model 220 by ECP), the performance comparison of three kinds of controllers such as PID, RIC and LQR was carried out. It was shown that RIC has the best performance in the presence of disturbances such as step one, sinusoidal one and Coulomb friction for the rigid body. LQR using feedback state variables has the best tracking performance for the flexible body. The performance of PID controller is low compared to other controllers, but the design process is simple. The most advanced controller is LQR. In order to attenuate disturbance, an additional state observer should be used to estimate it, making more complex control system. RIC lies between PID and LQR in view of complexity of design. Even though RIC is not complicated, it has good disturbance rejection ability and less tracking error. By considering these aspects, the RIC is suggested as high precision controller to be used in motion control system.

In this paper, we propose the basic framework of point- wise topological logic on completely distributive lattices and explore approximate reasoning in it. The logic of this paper is based on pointwise characterization, therefore the pointwise conception is pervasive. We explore approximate reasoning in abstract logical framework Fl on completely distributive lattice L. We propose the structure of point- wise topological logic F TL , the structure of matching function sigma. and the structure of matching neighborhood group. We investigate approximate reasoning in pointwise topological logic F TL with matching function sigma, develop pointwise topological algorithm of simple approximate reasoning, introduce the essential characteristics of this scheme.
