Current real-time applications should timely deliver synchronized data-sets, minimize latency in their response and meet their performance specifications in the presence of disturbances and faults. The adaptive features of the designed controller are present at the lower control level using specific artificial intelligence techniques. Fuzzy inference system design is the fundamental element to generate an adaptive nonlinear controller for the robot operation in the presence of disturbances and modeling inaccuracies. This paper introduces an adaptive real-time distributed control application with fault tolerance capabilities for differential wheeled mobile robots, named ARTEMIC. Specific design, development and implementation details will be provided in this paper. © 2010 IEEE.

Today software systems have to face frequent requests for change during their whole lifetime. It is very important that they can adapt to the frequently changing needs and are flexible for new features in order to remain useful and to conserve business value. This ability of software systems, known as evolvability, does still not gain the attention it deserves. This paper discusses, why evolvability has to be explicitly considered during the design of software architectures and why the current practice with focus on maintainability during software evolution is insufficient. Furthermore, some advice for tackling the problem is given.

We implement a prototype for an application of automatic optical material testing in the manufacturing of glass panels. Based on a nonlinear optimal control approach, we present a numerical method for optimal control at run time. The algorithm will be demonstrated and tested with the help of an illustrative example where it turns out that the optimal control is of bang-bang or bang-zero-bang type, depending on the state constraints. © 2018

having a suitable model is one of the most important steps in active noise and vibration control systems. There are many applications in which the derived numerical model does not show the system behavior appropriately. In such cases, obtaining a model using system identification methods can play a special role. To this aim, in this paper the problem of identification of a flexible plate which is attached to upper side of an enclosure is addressed. The frequency response of the plate is measured between the two specific points and the data are applied to the several subspace-based frequency domain identification algorithms with and without Instrumental Variable method. Since the real system, by nature, is stable and the models identified in all cases are unstable, in the next step stabilization algorithm with different initial values is used to extract the stable part of the system. Finally, the qualities of the stabilized identified models are evaluated by calculating the RMS error between the measured and identified models. © 2011 IFAC.

The paper proposes models for predicting the appearance of surface defects in flat-rolled steel production at ferrous metallurgy enterprises. A 'shell' type surface defect is considered. At the complete cycle metallurgical enterprises with flat-rolled steel production, the quality of the finished product is affected by the various stages of production. In particular, the appearance of the 'shell' type defect may influence the quality of the starting material, namely slabs. Therefore, one of the proposed models is a model of the cracks occurrence in continuous steel casting process. The model uses a criterion based on the time the ingot is in the curvilinear zone of the continuous steel casting facility (CSSF) with the crust temperature in the range of the embrittlement temperature of the corresponding steel grades. In the process of cold rolling, the 'shell' type defect is shaped. It can be completely rolled out or appear as a surface defect in cold rolling. Therefore, the next model considered in the paper is a model of defect shaping in the process of cold rolling. The stress-strain state in the defect zone is modeled, and the influence of initial geometrical characteristics and rolling modes on the degree of rolling-out were analyzed. © 2021 IEEE.

An integral part of modern medicine is its technical equipment. The constantly evolving methods of prevention and treatment require ever more stringent and precise characteristics from the equipment that implements these methods. To ensure such characteristics, technical equipment must be constantly updated and improved in line with current technology and trends. Collector-driven DC motors have significant disadvantages, including the need for timely maintenance of the collector-brush unit and limited service life due to collector wear. In recent years, permanent magnet synchronous motors have become more and more common and their design is continually being improved for different applications and their control systems are being improved. The characteristics of these servomotors can easily replace the DC collector motors. In this article, we will give an example of the modernization of a robotic complex for the recovery of walking skills by replacing the installed servomotors. © 2022 IEEE.

In textual data stream environment, concept drift can occur at any time, existing approaches partitioning streams into chunks can have problem if the chunk boundary does not coincide with the change point which is impossible to predict. Since concept drift can occur at any point of the streams, it will certainly occur within chunks, which is called random concept drift. The paper proposed an approach, which is called chunk level-based concept drift method (CLCD), that can overcome this chunking problem by continuously monitoring chunk characteristics to revise the classifier based on transfer learning in positive and unlabeled (PU) textual data stream environment. Our proposed approach works in three steps. In the first step, we propose core vocabulary-based criteria to justify and identify random concept drift. In the second step, we put forward the extension of LELC (PU learning by extracting likely positive and negative microclusters)[ 1], called soft-LELC, to extract representative examples from unlabeled data, and assign a confidence score to each extracted example. The assigned confidence score represents the degree of belongingness of an example towards its corresponding class. In the third step, we set up a transfer learning-based SVM to build an accurate classifier for the chunks where concept drift is identified in the first step. Extensive experiments have shown that CLCD can capture random concept drift, and outperforms state-of-the-art methods in positive and unlabeled textual data stream environments. Copyright © SIAM.

The emerging discipline of Data science poses several challenges for teams conducting projects in the field as notably, the majority of Data science teams fail to deliver the expected outcomes. To improve the results, researchers tried to adapt agile project methodologies like Scrum for Data science projects. Scrum in particular is often implemented due its success in software engineering. However, the basic Scrum framework has proven itself to be too strict for Data science, due to frequent unpredictabilities of Data science tasks. Consequently, adaptions were made to traditional Scrum to make it more suitable for the new challenges. This article discusses further adaptations and suggests that Scrum in itself is usable in Data science, however, additional adaptations of the core concepts need to be envisioned. © 2022 IEEE.

Lucky imaging is a high-resolution astronomical image recovery technique with two classic implementation algorithms,*** selecting,shifting and adding in image space,and data selecting and image synthesizing in Fourier *** paper proposes a novel lucky imaging algorithm where with space-domain and frequency-domain selection rates as a link,the two classic algorithms are combined successfully,making each algorithm a proper subset of the novel hybrid *** results show that with the same experiment dataset and platform,the high-resolution image obtained by the proposed algorithm is superior to that obtained by the two classic *** paper also proposes a new lucky image selection and storage scheme,which can greatly save computer memory and enable lucky imaging algorithm to be implemented in a common desktop or laptop with small memory and to process astronomical images with more frames and larger *** addition,through simulation analysis,this paper discusses the binary star detection limits of the novel lucky imaging algorithm and traditional ones under different atmospheric conditions.

PillCrop: the Solution for the Correct Administration of Medicine

The present work brings to the reader’s attention the benefits and facilities of the PillCrop application. The application enwraps a complete solution for improving the weight accuracy of each dose of medicine given to patients. The application recognizes, using artificial intelligence, the dose recommended by the medical specialist and the standard weight of each pill. If the medicinal drug can be divided it generates two surfaces that represent the necessary division of the pill to fit the weight indicated by the dose. This recommendation uses augmented reality to illustrate the part of the medicine that represents the recommended dose to the patient and where the pill should be divided.
