Automatic breast tumor segmentation based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) is significant for the diagnosis and monitoring of breast cancers. CNNs have become an important method for early diagnosis of breast cancer and, thus, can help decrease the mortality rate. In order to assist medical professionals in breast cancer investigation a computerized system based on two encoder-decoder architectures for breast tumor segmentation has been developed. Two pre-trained DeepLabV3+ and U-Net models are proposed. The encoder generates a high-dimensional feature vector while the decoder analyses the low-resolution feature vector provided by the encoder and generates a semantic segmentation mask. Semantic segmentation based on deep learning techniques can overcome the limitations of traditional algorithms. To assess the efficiency of breast ultrasound image segmentation, we compare the segmentation results provided by CNNs against the Local Graph Cut technique (a semi-automatic segmentation method) in the Image Segmenter application. The output segmentation results have been evaluated by using the Dice similarity coefficient that compares the ground truth images provided by the specialists against the predicted segmentation results provided by the CNNs and Local Graph Cut algorithm. The proposed approach is validated on 780 breast ultrasonographic images of the BUSI public database of which 437 are benign and 210 are malignant. The BUSI database provides classification (benign or malignant) labels for ground truth in binary mask images. The average Dice scores computed between the ground truth images against CNNs were as follows: 0.9360 (malignant) and 0.9325 (benign) for the DeepLabV3+ architecture and of 0.6251 (malignant) and 0.6252 (benign) for the U-Net, respectively. When the segmentation results provided by CNNs were compared with the Local Graph Cut segmented images, the Dice scores were 0.9377 (malignant) and 0.9204 (benign) for DeepLabV3+ architecture and 0.61

Rapid-quenched Fe-based alloys may show hard or soft magnetic properties depending on the chemical composition and structure of the alloy. One of the most sensitive methods of studying the structure and, indirectly, magnetic properties is Mössbauer spectroscopy. Using this method, it is possible to determine the surroundings of Fe atoms and to identify crystalline phases in the volume of the alloy. The distributions of hyper ne eld induction supplemented with measurements of saturation magnetization as a function of the external magnetic eld allow us to explain signi cant differences in magnetic properties also within the amorphous structure. The paper presents the results of research on the structure and magnetic properties of rapid-quenched FeNbYHfB alloys. It was found that slight changes in the chemical composition affect the surroundings of Fe atoms and the density of the alloy, which correlates with the change in the value of the coercive eld and saturation magnetization of rapid-quenched alloys. © 2025 Polska Akademia Nauk. The gas turbine is considered to be a very complex piece of machinery because of both its static structure and the dynamic behavior that results from the occurrence of vibration phenomena. It is required to adopt monitoring and diagnostic procedures for the identification and localization of vibration flaws in order to ensure the appropriate operation of large rotating equipment such as gas turbines. This is necessary in order to avoid catastrophic failures and deterioration and to ensure that proper operation occurs. Utilizing an approach that is based on spectrum analysis, the purpose of this study is to provide a model for the monitoring and diagnosis of vibrations in a GE MS3002 gas turbine and its driven centrifugal compressor. This will be done by utilizing the technique. Following that, the collection of vibration measurements for a model of the centrifugal compressor served as a suggestion for an additional method. This method is based on the neuro-fuzzy approach type ANFIS, and it aims to create an equivalent system that is able to make decisions without consulting a human being for the purpose of detecting vibratory defects. In spite of the fact that the compressor that was investigated has flaws, this procedure produced satisfactory results. © 2024 by the Authors.

We applied and adapted the linear encodings from [1] to the feasible-reference tracking model predictive control (MPC) formulation from [2] to reduce its computational cost. The improvements come from avoiding to explicitly use the vertex-based representation of the variable terminal set in testing its inclusion in the constraint set. We considered both polytopic and zonotopic formulations. For the later we have also proposed a positive invariant (PI) zonotopic approximation of the maximal PI set.

In this paper various BLE protocols for communication between remote or Android applications and intelligent dual channel (cool and warm white) LED lamps were reverse engineered. Three protocols were fully decoded and several partially. Replay attack is tested and confirmed working. Demo C++ library was developed and a proof-of-concept firmware for esp32 based development board was used to verify the decoding and the attacks applicability.

Automatic chest radiology report generation is crucial for improving diagnostic efficiency, enhancing diagnostic quality, and reducing misdiagnoses or missed diagnoses. Existing approaches either resize the high-resolution radiology image into smaller sizes or segment it into multiple patches for separate processing, which may lose fine local details or global contextual information, and the accuracy of report generation will be limited. In addition, the direct fusion of visual features with sentence features reduces the accuracy of aligning fine-grained visual features with text features. In this paper, we focus on designing a cross-modal global-local collaborative network to capture more local fine details and global contextual information, which comprises a global-to-local network and a local-to-global network that takes the resized entire image and segmented image patches as respective inputs. The former handles the extraction of global visual features, the fusion of global and local visual features, and the fusion of visual features into report sentences. The latter implements the extraction of local visual features, the fusion of local to global visual features, and the fusion of visual features to report words. Experimental results on two publicly available datasets, IU X-Ray and MIMIC-CXR, show that our proposed network outperforms state-of-the-art image captioning-based methods in most evaluation metrics. © 2022, The Authors. Genetic algorithm (GA) is one of the most popular algorithms of evolutionary computation. To evaluate the performance of GAs, test functions with different levels of epistasis have been included in most of the commonly used benchmark platforms. Such test functions have been produced in general by assuming an underlying linear model for the fitness of a string, in which variable interaction should be known beforehand. This paper proposes to compose epistasis-tunable test functions via linear combinations of simple basis functions so as to avoid explicit dependence on the knowledge of variable interaction. It is remarked that, for a GA with a binary encoding, a linearly separable fitness function, ie, a zero-epistasis fitness function, can be decomposed into a superposition of periodical basis functions whose frequencies are exponential to 2. A kind of epistasis-tunable test functions is accordingly produced by summing up sinusoidal basis functions with such frequencies and proper phases. The merits of thus constructed test functions are: Both the locations and values of the global maxima are trivially known;their degrees of epistasis are smoothly tunable simply by changing the locations of the global maxima. Finally, illustration examples are studied, and the results confirm the claims about the merits. © 2018 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) have shown great power for learning and mining on graphs, and Graph Structure Learning (GSL) plays an important role in boosting GNNs with a refined graph. In the literature, most GSL solutions either primarily focus on structure refinement with task-specific supervision (i.e., node classification), or overlook the inherent weakness of GNNs themselves (e.g., over-squashing), resulting in suboptimal performance despite sophisticated designs. In light of these limitations, we propose to study self-supervised graph structure-feature co-refinement for effectively alleviating the issue of over-squashing in typical GNNs. In this paper, we take a fundamentally different perspective of the Ricci curvature in Riemannian geometry, in which we encounter the challenges of modeling, utilizing and computing Ricci curvature. To tackle these challenges, we present a self-supervised Riemannian model, DeepRicci. Specifically, we introduce a latent Riemannian space of heterogeneous curvatures to model various Ricci curvatures, and propose a gyrovector feature mapping to utilize Ricci curvature for typical GNNs. Thereafter, we refine node features by geometric contrastive learning among different geometric views, and simultaneously refine graph structure by backward Ricci flow based on a novel formulation of differentiable Ricci curvature. Finally, extensive experiments on public datasets show the superiority of DeepRicci, and the connection between backward Ricci flow and over-squashing. Structural relaxations play a large role in forming the properties of magnetic materials. In amorphous alloys, which are metastable materials, obtaining a relatively stable structure requires a properly designed thermal treatment process. Samples should be annealed above the Curie temperature and below the crystallization temperature. With the process designed in such a way, the domain structure is not interfered with and the formation of crystal grains does not occur. By analyzing the so-called Holstein-Primakoff paraprocess, it is possible to determine the in uence of magnetic atoms on the magnetization process in strong magnetic elds above the eld of effective anisotropy. © 2025 Polska Akademia Nauk. This paper proposes a novel circuit model of a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) device. The model is designed to accurately represent the behavior of a WSN device operating in a duty cycle, capturing the essential characteristics of its components, including the microcontroller, sensor, transceiver, and power supply. The proposed model incorporates static and dynamic power consumption aspects, reflecting the energy usage patterns during various operational states such as sensing, processing, and communication. The model's accuracy is validated through a comparative analysis with a LTspice® implementation and a real mote implemented for this study. Simulation results closely match the empirical data, demonstrating the model's effectiveness in predicting the mote's behavior. This approach provides a valuable tool for optimizing power consumption and extending the lifetime of WSN deployments within a simulation environment, offering significant insights for designers and researchers in this field. © 2024 The Authors
