The transformers have achieved significant accomplishments in the natural language processing as its outstanding parallel processing capabilities and highly flexible attention mechanism. In addition, increasing studies based on transformers have been proposed to model single-cell data. In this review, we attempt to systematically summarize the single-cell language models and applications based on transformers. First, we provide a detailed introduction about the structure and principles of transformers. Then, we review the single-cell language models and large language models for single-cell data analysis. Moreover, we explore the datasets and applications of single-cell language models in downstream tasks such as batch correction, cell clustering, cell type annotation, gene regulatory network inference and perturbation response. Further, we discuss the challenges of single-cell language models and provide promising research directions. We hope this review will serve as an up-to-date reference for researchers interested in the direction of single-cell language models. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This study proposes an approach to enhance the contrast breast ultrasound (BUS) images with the preservation of the finer details. The main idea is to use the relevant and most important features in the classification of BUS images as benign or malignant. Among the contrast manipulation techniques, both linear under- and overexposure methods, contrast limiting adaptive histogram equalization (CLAHE) method and homomorphic filtering are used. The gradient maps of original images are generated for further analysis. Also, the gradient maps of original images are improved by the local mean subtraction and divisive normalization. Eight structural features are extracted from each gradient map image type. The extracted features feed a Random Forest (RF) classifier to determine their relevance for BUS images classification. An accuracy of 97.12% has been obtained for improved gradient map images and 93.03% for gradient map images. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper considers the distributed bandit convex optimization problem with time-varying inequality constraints over a network of agents, where the goal is to minimize network regret and cumulative constraint violation. Existing distributed online algorithms solving this problem require that each agent broadcasts its decision to its neighbors at each iteration. However, communication resources are often limited. To better utilize communication resources, we propose a distributed event-triggered online primal-dual algorithm with two-point bandit feedback. Under several classes of appropriately chosen decreasing parameter sequences and non-increasing event-triggered threshold sequences, we establish dynamic network regret and network cumulative constraint violation bounds. These bounds are comparable to the results achieved by distributed event-triggered online algorithms with full-information feedback. Finally, a numerical example is provided to verify the theoretical results. © 2014 IEEE.

Fusionfrfcm: An Image Fusion Approach Driven by Non-Global Fuzzy Pre-Enhancement Framework

Most of the existing image fusion models adopt a global strategy, which usually reduces the contrast of infrared images. In this paper, we propose an image fusion approach driven by a non-global fuzzy pre-enhancement framework (FusionFRFCM), which is more suitable for the structure of the infrared (IR) image. A contrast equalization algorithm based on Fourth-order Partial Differential Equation (FPDE) algorithm is proposed, which is used to enhance the background region. Due to the differences between IR and visible (VIS) images, a hybrid fusion strategy based on Expectation Maximization algorithm (EM) and Principal Component Analysis algorithm (PCA) is designed. Compared with other state-of-the-art fusion methods, the experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has better fusion performance in both qualitative and quantitative results. In addition, to verify the effectiveness of our proposed FusionFRFCM in practical application, the fusion framework is embedded into the RGBT target tracking task under the VOT-RGBT2019 and OTCBVS datasets. Through comparative experiments, it is found that the FusionFRFCM framework can easily be integrated with the tracking task and can improve the tracking accuracy in many scenes. © 2024, The Authors. In this paper, we introduce a ROS based framework designed for the planning and control of robotic systems within the context of precision agriculture, with an emphasis on human-in-the-loop capabilities. Utilizing Linear Temporal Logic to articulate complex task specifications, our algorithm creates high-level robotic plans that are not only correct by design but also adaptable in real time by human operators. This dual-focus approach ensures that while humans have the flexibility to modify the high-level plan on-the-fly or even take over low-level control of the robots, the system inherently safeguards against any human actions that could potentially breach the predefined task specifications. We demonstrate our algorithm within the dynamic and challenging environment of a real vineyard, where the collaboration between human workers and robots is critical for tasks such as harvesting and pruning, and show the practical applicability and robustness of our software. This work marks a pioneering application of formal methods to complex, real-world agricultural environments.

A combination between the information extracted for both right iris and left iris could increase the efficacy of the biometric recognition systems. In this paper, we propose a biometric identification method based on density of image patterns extracted from human iris images and the combination and comparison of the right iris and the left iris characteristics. The density of the patters approach for processed images can be a new biometric feature used to implement a biometric recognition system with high performance when a small feature dimension is used. In this way, we can maximize the retention of the effective biometric information. The experiments were conducted on the MMU Iris Database containing 225 images of the left eye and 225 images of the right eye. Two morphological Top-hat and Hit or Miss transforms were implemented to find out the particular pattern of pixels. They allow for the enhancement of detail in images. Then, a statistical feature extraction technique is employed to derive the density of the patterns in morphological transformed images. To assess the density of the patterns differences between the right and left iris data groups, the Pearson's correlation coefficient (PCC) is computed. We reported very good results with a PCC of 0.6164 (strong and positive correlation) for Top-hat morphological operation whilst the Hit or Miss transform returns a PCC of 0.0127 so there is no relationship between the density of the patterns in the right and left irises. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. The article discusses the main features of mechanical, chemical, thermal, and electrical processes occurring in the contact zones of the surfaces of contact connections of electrical devices. The parameters determining the value of power losses and power consumption in low voltage switching equipment are analyzed. The main features of the characteristics of the topology and technical condition in the operating conditions of the equipment of shop low-voltage industrial power supply networks are shown. A comparative analysis of the technical characteristics of automatic circuit breakers. Using catalog data, the dependences of active power losses in circuit breakers on rated currents are established. Algorithms have been developed and the obtained dependencies have been modeled using approximating functions. The standard deviation of the compiled approximating functions is calculated. Analytical expressions of the dynamics of power losses per pole in the studied machines of some companies of the function of the rated current are presented. The graphical dependencies of the investigated parameters of low-voltage equipment are presented. The developed models are recommended to be used to increase the reliability of the assessment and refinement of the amount of active power and electricity losses in low-voltage electrical networks of industrial power supply systems.

The correct identification of the driver genes that lead to cancer development is essential for understanding the mechanisms of cancer and developing drugs to treat it. Currently, most computational methods for identifying cancer driver genes are based on a cohort of patients. However, due to the heterogeneity of cancers, patients diagnosed with the same cancers may have different genomic characteristics and present varied clinical symptoms. It requires devising effective methods to identify personalized cancer driver genes in an individual. This work developed a novel method to predict personalized cancer driver genes of a single sample based on graph convolution networks, namely pDriverGCN. pDriverGCN constructed a mutant gene-sample heterogeneous network according to the known driver genes of samples. Then it employed two separate graph convolution network models to learn feature representations for genes and samples by gathering the features of themselves and their neighbors. Finally, pDriverGCN used the feature representations to reconstruct the association matrix between genes and samples through a linear correlation coefficient decoder. We apply our model to identify personalized driver genes of samples on the TCGA datasets. The experimental results show that our model outperforms state-of-the-art methods being evaluated at both population and individual levels.

The article describes the reliability of transformers, the failure rate and uptime to the first failure, the durability and maintainability of transformers and their service life, the allowable temperature rises and the dependence of steady-state overheating on the load factor of the transformer. An assessment of the effect of ambient temperature on the rated power of the transformer is shown. Dependences of heating on the changing load of transformers are given. The heating time constant is calculated depending on the power and cooling system of the transformer. The winding heating temperature is considered for real daily load schedules of a 33/11 kV transformer, the maximum actual overheats are compared when loaded with full power with allowable overheats. These studies can be used in transformers 33/11 kV and others with subsequent interpolation of values.

In this article, a study of radial and trunk circuits of networks was carried out and power losses were determined using the proposed coefficients. Equivalent resistances of the investigated circuits were calculated considering the changes in circuit and mode parameters. Results of calculations are presented, considering equipment layout and technical parameters.
