The process of fish breeding is extensively applied in fish farms and it is influenced by either environmental factors (in case of natural reproduction) and by the use of exogenous hormones (in case of artificial reproduction). Reproducing some species under controlled conditions without hormonal preparations is not possible. Many hormonal agents have been previously described in the scientific literature as beneficial in the fish breeding process. The effectiveness of these agents varies. This paper reviews some of the basic hormonal substances and describes the results of artificial reproduction. The most frequently encountered substances that give the best results are: Carp pituitary homogenate (CPH), Ovopel and Ovaprim. It can be concluded that in order to ensure the success of reproduction, the doses applied are particularly important, as well as the way of administration of the agent.

On the approximation error for approximating convex bodies using multiobjective optimization

A polyhedral approximation of a convex body can be calculated by solving approximately an associated multiobjective convex program (MOCP). An MOCP can be solved approximately by Benson type algorithms, which compute outer and inner polyhedral approximations of the problem's upper image. Polyhedral approximations of a convex body can be obtained from polyhedral approximations of the upper image of the associated MOCP. We provide error bounds in terms of the Hausdorff distance for the polyhedral approximations of a convex body in dependence of the stopping criterion of the primal and dual Benson type algorithms which are applied to the associated MOCP. © 2021, CC BY.

In software-defined networks(SDNs),controller placement is a critical factor in the design and planning for the future Internet of Things(IoT),telecommunication,and satellite communication *** research has concentrated largely on factors such as reliability,latency,controller capacity,propagation delay,and energy ***,SDNs are vulnerable to distributed denial of service(DDoS)attacks that interfere with legitimate use of the *** ever-increasing frequency of DDoS attacks has made it necessary to consider them in network design,especially in critical applications such as military,health care,and financial services networks requiring high *** propose a mathematical model for planning the deployment of SDN smart backup controllers(SBCs)to preserve service in the presence of DDoS *** a number of input parameters,our model has two distinct ***,it determines the optimal number of primary controllers to place at specific locations or nodes under normal operating ***,it recommends an optimal number of smart backup controllers for use with different levels of DDoS *** goal of the model is to improve resistance to DDoS attacks while optimizing the overall cost based on the *** simulated results demonstrate that the model is useful in planning for SDN reliability in the presence of DDoS attacks while managing the overall cost.

Medical image segmentation is critical for diagnosing and treating spinal disorders. However, the presence of high noise, ambiguity, and uncertainty makes this task highly challenging. Factors such as unclear anatomical boundaries, inter-class similarities, and irrational annotations contribute to this challenge. Achieving both accurate and diverse segmentation templates is essential to support radiologists in clinical practice. In recent years, denoising diffusion probabilistic modeling (DDPM) has emerged as a prominent research topic in computer vision. It has demonstrated effectiveness in various vision tasks, including image deblurring, super-resolution, anomaly detection, and even semantic representation generation at the pixel level. Despite the robustness of existing diffusion models in visual generation tasks, they still struggle with discrete masks and their various effects. To address the need for accurate and diverse spine medical image segmentation templates, we propose an end-to-end framework called VerseDiff-UNet, which leverages the denoising diffusion probabilistic model (DDPM). Our approach integrates the diffusion model into a standard U-shaped architecture. At each step, we combine the noise-added image with the labeled mask to guide the diffusion direction accurately towards the target region. Furthermore, to capture specific anatomical a priori information in medical images, we incorporate a shape a priori module. This module efficiently extracts structural semantic information from the input spine images. We evaluate our method on a single dataset of spine images acquired through X-ray imaging. Our results demonstrate that VerseDiff-UNet significantly outperforms other state-of-the-art methods in terms of accuracy while preserving the natural features and variations of anatomy. The paper analyzes the decentralized deployment policies for scalar multi-agent systems subject to delays. As a main contribution we obtain explicit conditions on the local feedback gains at the level of subsystems, which ensure safe deployment independent of the delays on the measurement of the positions of the neighboring agents. From the theoretic point of view, positive invariance of sets is used as a main concept for the proofs of the results.

The majority of AI literacy studies have designed and developed self-reported questionnaires to assess AI learning and understanding. These studies assessed students' perceived AI capability rather than AI literacy because self-perceptions are seldom an accurate account of true measures. International assessment programs that use objective measures to assess science, mathematical, digital, and computational literacy back up this argument. Furthermore, because AI education research is still in its infancy, the current definition of AI literacy in the literature may not meet the needs of young students. Therefore, this study aims to develop and validate an AI literacy test for school students within the interdisciplinary project known as AI4future. engineering and education researchers created and selected 25 multiple-choice questions to accomplish this goal, and school teachers validated them while developing an AI curriculum for middle schools. 2390 students in grades 7 to 9 took the test. We used a Rasch model to investigate the discrimination, reliability, and validity of the items. The results showed that the model met the unidimensionality assumption and demonstrated a set of reliable and valid items. They indicate the quality of the test items. The test enables AI education researchers and practitioners to appropriately evaluate their AI-related education interventions. © 2024 The Authors

Drone-based predictive structure analysis is a rapidly growing field that has the potential to revolutionize infrastructure and building inspection. In this review of the research, we give a general overview of how drones could increase the effectiveness and precision of structural analysis, particularly for keeping an eye on difficult-to-reach locations. The usage of drones for 3D mapping, inspection, and monitoring of diverse constructions, such as concrete buildings, bridges, tunnels, and dams. The investigations show that drone-based inspection can produce 3D models and high-resolution photos, allowing for remote monitoring and the early identification of possible problems. The findings show that drones may greatly boost infrastructure management's safety and effectiveness, making them an important tool for predictive structural research.

A fuzzy theoretic analytical approach was recently introduced that leads to efficient and robust models while addressing automatically the typical issues associated to parametric deep models. However, a formal conceptualization of the fuzzy theoretic analytical deep models is still not available. This paper introduces using measure theoretic basis the notion of membership-mapping for representing data points through attribute values (motivated by fuzzy theory). A property of the membership-mapping, that can be exploited for data representation learning, is of providing an interpolation on the given data points in the data space. An analytical approach to the variational learning of a membership-mappings based data representation model is considered. © 2021, CC BY.

The publication presents a global outline of the construction of the lower limb rehabilitation exoskeleton. The main focus was put on the structure of the exoskeleton’s ankle assembly cooperating with the patient’s ankle joint. Based on the geometrical properties of the assembly a three-dimensional model was developed using the Finite Element Method (FEM) for determining the stresses and displacements of components subjected to variable loads. In the FEM model, finite elements of the 3D-solid type and beam type were used. To determine the external loads an experiment was performed using a dynamometric platform by means which the ground reaction forces, excited by a patient wearing the exoskeleton, were measured. During testing and analysis, particular attention was focused to orthotropic ABS material components manufactured with 3D printing technology. The work contains partial data obtained from strength tests of samples manufactured by a 3D printer. The results of measured strength parameters that describe the mentioned orthotropy are implemented by defining a suitable material model in the FEM model of the tested assembly. As a result of the numerical calculations performed, the stress fields of individual elements of the assembly were obtained. The distribution of stresses depends on the relative position of patient’s foot relative to the ground, on the loads generated by driving modules and inertial forces. Based on these stress values their amplitude variation were determined which enabled selecting parts that met the requirements construction strength, durability and safety of use of rehabilitation exoskeleton. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.

TemPrompt: Multi-Task Prompt Learning for Temporal Relation Extraction in RAG-based Crowdsourcing Systems

Temporal relation extraction (TRE) aims to grasp the evolution of events or actions, and thus shape the workflow of associated tasks, so it holds promise in helping understand task requests initiated by requesters in crowdsourcing systems. However, existing methods still struggle with limited and unevenly distributed annotated data. Therefore, inspired by the abundant global knowledge stored within pre-trained language models (PLMs), we propose a multi-task prompt learning framework for TRE (TemPrompt), incorporating prompt tuning and contrastive learning to tackle these issues. To elicit more effective prompts for PLMs, we introduce a task-oriented prompt construction approach that thoroughly takes the myriad factors of TRE into consideration for automatic prompt generation. In addition, we design temporal event reasoning in the form of masked language modeling as auxiliary tasks to bolster the model’s focus on events and temporal cues. The experimental results demonstrate that TemPrompt outperforms all compared baselines across the majority of metrics under both standard and few-shot settings. A case study on designing and manufacturing printed circuit boards is provided to validate its effectiveness in crowdsourcing scenarios. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
