We have considered the design of electric arc plasma installation, called plasmatron, with a vertical working chamber, enable the production of high-temperature plasma during the combustion of the plasma gas passing through the electric arc. The plasma torch is designed for utilization of carbon-containing wastes and slurries of processing industries. Famous electric arc plasma systems have some disadvantages, the main of which are the complexity of the design and the complexity of regulating the performance of the installation that produces plasma. The peculiarity of the proposed plasma torch is the effect of an external electromagnetic field on the arc. This allows the arc to be pulled out and out of the tubular housing. The equation describing the arc current change in dynamic modes is given. The experimental electric arc installation for plasma generation is considered, the results of experiments are analyzed. The role of the control and information-measuring system to ensure the normal operation of the installation is shown.

The present work retrieves cubic–quartic optical soliton solutions to the complex Ginzburg–Landau equation that is considered with five forms of nonlinear refractive index. The proposed algorithm reveals a full spectrum of optical solitons as well as hybrid type solitons whose existence are guaranteed with the listed parameter constraints. © 2022, The Authors. In this work, we provide a simulation framework to perform systematic studies on the effects of spinal joint compliance and actuation on bounding performance of a 16-DOF quadruped spined robot Stoch 2. Fast quadrupedal locomotion with active spine is an extremely hard problem, and involves a complex coordination between the various degrees of freedom. Therefore, past attempts at addressing this problem have not seen much success. Deep-Reinforcement Learning seems to be a promising approach, after its recent success in a variety of robot platforms, and the goal of this paper is to use this approach to realize the aforementioned behaviors. With this learning framework, the robot reached a bounding speed of 2.1m /s with a maximum Froude number of 2. Simulation results also show that use of active spine, indeed, increased the stride length, improved the cost of transport, and also reduced the natural frequency to more realistic values.

Due to its advantages like minimal trauma and a low risk of infections, the minimally invasive surgery (MIS) has become the standard operation technique for many surgical procedures. During this type of intervention, one of the main tasks from a technical point of view is the control of the pressure in the operation area in order to give the surgeon sufficient space to perform his actions. Because no invasive measurements are available, an extended Kalman filter incorporating the peristaltic behavior of the used medical device was developed to estimate the pressure in the operation area. This contribution focuses on the observer design while a separately designed PI controller using loop shaping was employed for validation. The proposed observer-based control structure was tested with a simulator deploying the principle of physical equivalence. © 2018 Eike Smolinski et al.

The problem of the rapid creation of effective web applications of one class using formal means is considered. A conceptual approach to its solution is offered based on an analysis of the peculiarities of the construction of web applications. Our approach is based on defining the standard web application architecture and selecting its components using formal methods in accordance with user requirements. A formal logical system is proposed that uses the design of web applications as a process of outputting a formula specified according to the needs of the user, which defines the schemes of execution of the modules of the system. An important feature of this approach is the ability to visualise the process of designing the system in 3D, which creates the conditions for effective interaction between developers and machine development tools.

Path planning for an identification mission of an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle in a lemniscate form

This paper describes the algorithms for guidance and control of an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) for a specific identification mission. The goal is to traverse several times an object of interest on the sea floor in a given geometric path in order to maximize the amount of information that can be obtained using the optical and acoustical sensors. Existing ocean currents that can be estimated using a Doppler Velocity Log (DVL) have to be considered when planning the path. We will describe the overall mission scenario and suggest a possible solution, based on an adequate planning of the path in form of a lemniscate and use the “chase the rabbit” approach for path following. This approach yields stable mission execution even in the presence of a considerable ocean current. The approach is validated with a state-of-the-art AUV using live tests in a special lake that contains a current. © 2018

Since proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers absolutely dominate the control engineering, numbers of different control structures and theories have been developed to enhance the efficiency of PID controllers. Thus, it is essential and inspiring to operate different PID control strategies to the PID2018 Benchmark Challenge. In this paper, a novel control strategy is designed for this refrigeration system, where a feedforward compensator and a conditional integrator are utilized to compensate the disturbances and remove the steady-state error in the benchmark problem, respectively. The simulation results given in the benchmark problem show the straightforward effectiveness of the proposed control structure compared with the existing control methods. © 2018

The article deals with the possibility of using machine learning in vibrodiagnostics to determine the type of fault of rotating machine. The data source is real measured data from the vibrodiagnostic model. This model allows simulation of some types of faults. The data is then processed and reduced for the use of the Matlab Classification learner app, which creates a model for recognizing faults. The model is ultimately tested on new samples of data. The aim of the article is to verify the ability to recognize similarly rotary machine faults from real measurements in the time domain. © 2018, Brno University of Technology. All rights reserved.

Dual microphone adaptive filters (DMAFs) whose parameters are optimized with normalized least mean squares (NLMS) algorithms have been widely used to reduce uncertain ambient noises. However, when used in auscultation, they are prone to periodic misalignment of the parameters caused by high filtering error. In this paper, a modified DMAF is proposed to solve this problem. A high-pass filter is introduced as signal preprocessing to reduce the amplitudes of the first and second heart sounds, and correspondingly, the filtering error. The preprocessed signals are fed into an adaptive filter, and the output of the adaptive filter is then low-pass filtered to restore the pure heart sounds. In this way, a lower steady state misalignment can be achieved. Simulation results showed that, the modified DMAF significantly outperformed the traditional DMAF on parameter alignment and signal-to-noise ratio.
