In line with the theory of schema sampling, a hypothesis could be made that sufficient supply of loworder building blocks (BBs) was one of the necessary conditions for a genetic algorithm(GA) to work. A consequential question of this hypothesis regards, when a certain fitness function is optimized with a commonly used GA, whether it is rare or common that there are plenty of low-order BBs. It is remarked that, when a base-m encoded GA is applied to a fitness function that is linearly combined of sinusoidal basis functions with integral frequencies, it is unlikely to obtain order-1 BBs with fixed positions at multiple loci, i.e., it is rare that there are plenty of order-1 BBs. However, if a considerable part of the sinusoidal basis functions are with frequencies exponential to a positive integer m, a base-m encoding can provide relatively more order-1 BBs compared with the encodings with cardinalities other than m. Considering the fraudulent behavior of Quality of Service (QoS) for web services, a method to monitor the QoS deviation was proposed in this paper. Firstly, we used random variable to describe the uncertainty of QoS. Secondly, the divergence of QoS in different time periods was tested with Kolmogorov Smirnov (K-S) approach. Finally, we utilized stochastic dominance to judge the better one of them. Theoretical analysis and experimental data showed that the proposed method was reasonable and effective. © 2015 IEEE.

In online business, it is important to construct sale web pages offering attractive services for popular products in order to improve page access as well as purchase rates. Moreover, online shop owners need to hold various types of (campaign) sales frequently throughout the year to keep customers coming back. Also, online shopping systems have to adapt to its circumstances such as customers' needs and the surrounding economic situations. To cope with these requirements, a self-organized IoT (Internet of Things) aware systems is proposed for online shopping. In our approach, awareness is achieved by monitoring/analyzing the data of user's behavior, in particular the eye gaze. The particular focus here is the analysis of the users' eye gaze with the objective to derive insights about products the user is interested in or not and adapt the system accordingly by presenting other products with similar attributes, hiding products with less interesting attributes and building a user's interest model by integrating all the positive preferences.

This paper is concerned with finite-time chaos control of unified hyperchaotic systems with multiple parameters. Based on the finite-time stability theory in the cascade-connected systems, a nonlinear control law is presented to achieve finite-time chaos control. The controller is simple and easy to be constructed. Simulation results for Lorenz hyperchaotic system, Lü hyperchaotic system, Chen hyperchaotic system are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. © 2015 SERSC.

The operation of splicing on words was introduced by Tom Head while proposing a theoretical model of DNA recombination. Subsequent investigations on splicing on linear and circular strings of symbols have resulted in a number of theoretical properties. A different kind of splicing on two words, referred to as flat splicing, has been considered recently. This operation is extended to flat splicing on picture arrays, thus defining a new model of generation of digitized pictures, which is called as array flat splicing system (AFS). Results on the generative power of AFS in comparison with certain well-known picture array defining models and certain non-closure results are obtained. Resistance loss is one of the main parameters in the designing of slurry pipeline transportation,how to predict calculation accurately is an extremely important *** this paper,aiming at long-distance characteristics of iron concentrate slurry pipeline transportation,a new model based on the modified parameters of Fei Xiangjun resistance loss model and Durand resistance loss model was put forward,the modified model made a comparative analysis between data measured at the scene and results calculated in two models mentioned *** results show that the calculation results of the resistance loss using modified Fei Xiangjun are more accurate in the real operation ***,slurry flow rate and the concentration are both factors that would affect the pipe resistance loss were deeply discussed,which can give a reference in the designing of pipeline transportation.

The increasing complexity of the business processes requires automated methods for trouble-shooting and debugging of the process model in operation. This paper proposes mechanism of fault detection based on the concept of backwards reachability for the coloured workflow nets. The formal verification methods defined for coloured Petri nets such as state space method or place invariants declaration suffer from fast-growing computational complexity. The article offers the set of firing rules for backwards token-play on coloured workflow net. This method helps to detect resource-related failures of the two most common types: "the missing arc" fault (the resource was not initialized) and "wrong expression fault" (there is no proper resource).

Solar flare has various influences on the global environment, in particular on the magnetic storm and the likelihood of natural disasters. Specifically, it may have serious impacts on the Earth such as failure of satellite communication and navigation (GPS), satellite damage, increased radiation exposure to astronauts, geomagnetic storm and aurora, and power plant failures causing more serious disaster. For a precise forecast of larger scale solar flares causing serious disaster, it is important to improve the space weather forecast, which is basically a daily forecast of the solar flare. In the work so far, a machine-learning algorithm called Support Vector Machine (SVM) was used to forecast the space weather. We extend this technology by integrating Genetic Algorithm (GA) elaborately combined with Case Based Reasoning for more precise forecast or imbalanced data classification. Finally, basic evaluation of this architectural idea called CBGALO shows it is promising in improving solar flare prediction.
