The switched reluctance motor (SRM) and drive system is a candidate in various applications including the home appliance. The simple and low cost system with an adequate performance is also one topic to be developed. A speed sensor directly increases the cost and it directly influences the reliability of the system. This paper proposes a simplified variable speed control system for the SRM without using an encoder. The method is not based on the exact rotor position estimation, only the turn off angle is determined from the simple relation between measured terminal voltage and current. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by the experimental result on the 3 kW 3-phase 6-stator-pole and 4-rotor-pole SRM.

A class of uncertain time-varying complex dynamical networks is studied in this paper and a model introduced. On the grounds of that model then the locally and globally decentralized synchronization of these networks are thoroughly investigated. Several network synchronization criteria are deduced. Especially, the assumptions adopted and decentralized control laws designed are considerably simple. An illustrative example along with the respective numerical and computer simulation results is also given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed synchronization control synthesis.

In order to prevent such dropping events, permission requests for new calls may by rejected, if the system load is high or is expected to be high in the future. In this paper we present a control theory approach for adjusting the UMTS RRC call admission control threshold according to the current traffic situation in a UMTS cell. The production of high quality, media supported learning objects is a very cost and time-consuming process. Companies are searching for strategies and policies to reuse such valuable content in different scenarios and to get so-called reusable learning objects (RLOs). In the paper, we will give a new classification of learning objects, delivered from the system-on-a-chip design process, and specify their properties. We will investigate and define different levels of reusability. We will also discuss scenarios for an efficient exchange of RLOs including the means of the SCORM specification, and combine these two approaches for a new workflow to produce RLOs

Power consumption and heat dissipation become key elements in the field of high-end integrated circuits, especially those used in mobile and high-speed applications, due to their increase of transistor count and clock frequencies. Dynamic thermal management strategies have been proposed and implemented in order to mitigate heat dissipation. However, there is a lack of a tool that can be used to evaluate DTM strategies and thermal response of real life systems. This paper establishes sufficient conditions for absolute stability of time-varying control systems. The proposed conditions extend in a simple way the classical Popov criterion to time-varying memoryless nonlinearities, using previous results of Kharitonov. They are expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). A weaker frequency domain criterion is deduced, leading to a simple graphical interpretation. The results ensure in general local stability, however, the stability is global for linear time-varying systems. Examples are presented to show the efficacy of these extensions within the MATLAB environment
