Driving vehicles in complex scenarios under harsh conditions is the biggest challenge for autonomous vehicles (AVs). To address this issue, we propose hierarchical motion planning and robust control strategy using the front active steering system in complex scenarios with various slippery road adhesion coefficients while considering vehicle uncertain parameters. Behaviors of human vehicles (HVs) are considered and modeled in the form of a car-following model via the Intelligent Driver Model (IDM). Then, in the upper layer, the motion planner first generates an optimal trajectory by using the artificial potential field (APF) algorithm to formulate any surrounding objects, e.g., road marks, boundaries, and static/dynamic obstacles. To track the generated optimal trajectory, in the lower layer, an offline-constrained output feedback robust model predictive control (RMPC) is employed for the linear parameter varying (LPV) system by applying linear matrix inequality (LMI) optimization method that ensures the robustness against the model parameter uncertainties. Furthermore, by augmenting the system model, our proposed approach, called offline RMPC, achieves outstanding efficiency compared to three existing RMPC approaches, e.g., offset-offline RMPC, online RMPC, and offline RMPC without an augmented model (offline RMPC w/o AM), in both improving computing time and reducing input vibrations.

This paper proposes a comprehensive methodology for Field-Oriented control (FOC) with parameter variation analysis for Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines (IPMSM). The modeling approach for an IPMSM is first presented, followed by a step-by-step procedure for designing a vector-controlled strategy. The formulation is based on a dq-rotating reference frame aligned with the rotor shaft position. A key distinction of this methodology from traditional approaches is that the current controller is designed in the time domain based on desired time constants, while the speed control is formulated within a frequency response domain framework. The proposed hybrid approach enables accurate tuning of the Proportional-Integrator (PI) controllers for both current and speed control loops. Additionally, a parameter variation analysis is conducted to enhance the proposed methodology. The validity region for the design procedure is presented, ensuring that for any wide speed variation of the machine, loop gains are properly tuned. One of the main advantages of the proposed methodology is that it provides a fast, reliable, and accurate technique for implementing IPMSM drive systems. Results from a controller Hardware-in-the-Loop (C-HIL) setup with an external microcontroller are presented. The comprehensive design approach is validated under two different IPMSM parameter sets, demonstrating its effectiveness.

The variable-frequency drive technology (VFD) can modify the motor speed or torque by varying the frequency and voltage of the AC motor input power according to the load demand as a way to save energy. To analyse the energy saving effect of variable-frequency drive technology applied to data centre heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, this paper applies VFD technology to data centre fluorine pump-compressor composite air conditioning systems, implements monitoring and analysis of the operational energy efficiency of this system before and after retrofit, and combines the actual application of this technology. The findings indicate that the VFD technology can substantially reduce the number of compressor starts and stops, reduce the compressor start-up inrush current, and improve the power system's stability. Furthermore, utilising this technology, the HVAC system can effectively synchronise with the load and fluctuations in outdoor temperature and humidity, resulting in accurate temperature regulation and optimal utilisation of outdoor cooling resources. This approach can lead to significant energy conservation of up to 42.95% when compared to extreme hot and cold weather conditions. The findings of the study indicate that the utilisation of VFD technology exhibits commendable adaptability and yields favourable outcomes in regions with varying temperature ranges. The minimum PUE value recorded was 1.228. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, a dual-beam photothermal self-mixing substance trace detection system is proposed. The crystal violet (CV) solution of the sample undergoes a thermal lens effect under the action of pump photoperiod excitation, and the refractive index changes cause the deviation of the probe beam, and the self-mixing interference (SMI) effect occurs when the modulated light returns to the cavity. By combining theoretical and experimental results, the power fluctuation of the SMI signal caused by the thermo-optic effect is linearly related to CV concentration and other parameters. At an excitation power of 24 mW, the detection limit can reach $8.0 \times {10^{- 8}}\;{\rm mol/L}$ . This method does not require labeling or complex CV pretreatment and has high sensitivity and flexibility, providing a guide for CV characterization in biological, environmental, and pharmaceutical research.

Computing the maximal (robust) positive invari-ant (M(R)PI) set for linear dynamics and a polyhedral constraint set is well-known in the literature but, the effects and limitations of the different methods employed are not sufficiently clear, especially for high dimensional systems. In this paper we propose a systematic analysis of the existing techniques as well as the application of new ideas to accelerate the computation of the MPI set. This includes new stop conditions for the set recurrence that spans it. We analyze and compare these variations over a dynamical system whose dimension can be arbitrarily increased to draw conclusions about their relative strengths and weaknesses.

In this study, the disturbance observer (DOB) for a secure communication system (SCS) of the fractional-order (FO) Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems was newly proposed. The synchronization of the master and slave systems (MSS) was guaranteed by a terminal sliding mode control (TSMC) method. This study investigates the concept of multiband graphene THz antennas. We investigate the advantages of graphene in THz antenna applications with standard materials. Using a graphene strip, we built a multiband GSSPlp-MIMO antenna in this study that achieves triple operating frequencies of 7.64 THz, 9.57 THz, and 10.90 THz. The reflection response (S 11 ) of -29.2135 dB, which shows excellent signal confinement within the antenna, was greatly improved upon the inclusion of graphene. Superior impedance matching was the trade-off for this, even if the gain decreased slightly (10.41 dB) in comparison to the antenna without graphene (12.30 dB). The parameters are optimized using machine learning, yielding a maximum accuracy (R2) of 0.996622 and a mean square error of 5.3934 ×10 -5 . This indicates that high-performance terahertz antennas that balance gain and effective signal transmission can be designed using graphene. The antenna's capacity to handle multiple bands makes it ideal for future ultra-broadband wireless communication systems. This results in higher data transfer rates and supports emerging technologies such as 6G and beyond.

The development of the scientific publishing system has remarkably enhanced global accessibility to research findings and substantially increased the visibility and dissemination of academic publications. However, significant challenges still exist in effectively safeguarding the intellectual property rights of contributors, such as the unauthorized usage of materials, the complexity of enforcing intellectual property rights across various legal jurisdictions, and high instances of plagiarism and content misuse. Additionally, financial barriers related to open access may restrict the participation of economically disadvantaged researchers, potentially biasing scientific records towards more affluent research initiatives. To address these issues, a novel decentralized framework is formulated to ensure truly open access. This framework leverages blockchain for immutable record-keeping and clear attribution of authorship, to prevent unauthorized usage and plagiarism. Besides, it also utilizes a copyright-sharing model based on decentralized autonomous organizations and operations (DAOs), where smart contracts automatically enforce copyright and access policies to ensure fair compensation for authors and researchers. Furthermore, the copyright sharing model based on non-fungible tokens (NFT) and gradual ownership optimization (GOO) mechanism is proposed to ensure fair and accurate recognition and compensation for scholarly contributions.

Renewable energy offers a viable alternative to depleting fossil fuels, contributing to global warming and greenhouse gas emissions. Thus, solar energy is widely favored as a renewable energy source. However, the output power of solar systems is unstable and is highly dependent on environmental circumstances such as radiation, humidity, temperature, and wind. Therefore, accurately estimating solar radiation is crucial for successful integration of the solar system into existing electrical grid systems. In this study, two different machine learning models, XGBoost and Random Forest, were used to predict solar radiation data in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The results show that RMSE and MAE of the Random Forest model (61.09 and 24.37) is smaller compared to XGBoost (61.31 and 25.08). Regression value of the two models is close to 0.955. In summary, this paper demonstrates that these two machine learning algorithms effectively forecast solar radiation, with the Random Forest model showing better performance. © 2024 IEEE.
