Noise is one of the major national problems for decades. In the case of buildings, this concernment has become an issue when building structures are becoming lighter and lighter in weight. This approach does not only caused difficulties with poor sound insulation but also meant heat accumulation problems. This is due to the fact that commonly used lightweight construction materials are not able to absorb too much heat energy like massive constructions did. Production and implementation companies are trying to avoid these ailments by implementing accumulation materials into the buildings most frequently in the form of panels. A subject of this paper is to study the effect of implementation one type of facade system into the perimeter walls on the airborne sound insulation of building facades. The research is dedicated to the quadruple glazing panel which is a translucent wall element without any mechanical components or electronic devices. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2017.

Optimization of frame structures is formulated as a non-convex optimization problem, which is currently solved to local optimality. In this contribution, we investigate four optimization approaches: (i) general non-linear optimization, (ii) optimality criteria method, (iii) non-linear semidefinite programming, and (iv) polynomial optimization. We show that polynomial optimization solves the frame structure optimization to global optimality by building the (moment-sums-of-squares) hierarchy of convex linear semidefinite programming problems, and it also provides guaranteed lower and upper bounds on optimal design. Finally, we solve three sample optimization problems and conclude that the local optimization approaches may indeed converge to local optima, without any solution quality measure, or even to infeasible points. These issues are readily overcome by using polynomial optimization, which exhibits a finite convergence, at the prize of higher computational demands. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. With today's growing focus on noise control issues and the emergence of sound quality as an important aspect of product design, acoustic material testing is becoming increasingly relevant to engineers, designers and manufacturers from a broad range of industries. Acoustic material testing is the process by which acoustic characteristics of materials are determined in terms of absorption, reflection, impedance, admittance and transmission loss. Many different methods can be used to determine the acoustic properties of materials. There are standing wave method, two-microphone free field and multimicrophone techniques, reverberation chamber method, in-situ methods and many other alternative methods based on measurement of internal properties of porous materials. The point is that some methods are preferred over others because the environment in which they are measured is closer to real practice. The article deals with the comparison of the results of the measurement in the reverberation chamber and in the interferometer. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2017.

To achieve safety, high quality, and efficiency in deep drilling, it is necessary to get formation drillability around the borehole during drilling-trajectory planning and intelligent drilling control. Since the drilling data have the characteristics of low value density and noise in the process of deep drilling, it is difficult to model formation drillability in deep drilling. In this paper, a new online modeling method for formation drillability based on online sequential nadaboost extreme learning machine (OS-Nadaboost-ELM) algorithm has been proposed. Firstly, the well logging parameters are chosen as the inputs of the model, whose output is formation drillability. Then, several ELM models are established and the outputs of these models are as weak learners. Then the weak learners are combined by Nadaboost algorithm in order to get a strong learner. Finally, the recursive least squares algorithm is used to adjust the model. The numerical test results show that, in both prediction accuracy and training efficiency aspects, the proposed method is better than other prediction methods such as multiple regression, gray method, back-propagation neural networks, Nadaboost extreme learning machine and online sequential extreme learning machine. Thus the prediction model serves as the online geological model to develop intelligent drilling systems. © 2017

This paper reports the non-stationary behavior of a roof drainage during experimental measurement in the climate simulator. Many buildings use a fully or partially flat roof where it is necessary to use the roof drainage. Thermal behavior of roof drainage is very important from the point of view of heat transfer and potential condensation. The placement of a roof drain slightly deteriorates thermal transmittance of the roof. This experiment evaluates roof drains in the specific climate simulator where thermal conditions were dynamically controlled in the specific temperature range. The measurement was performed for two types of roof drains. The first drainage is a simple single-shell and the second is double-shell drainage. The results show the effect on the thermal transmittance of the roof section and also the minimal effect of condensation on the non-insulation part of the drainage. Both roof drains showed minimal deterioration of thermal transmittance of the roof construction. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2017.

Swarm intelligent algorithm for re-entrant hybrid flow shop scheduling problems

In order to solve Re-entrant Hybrid Flowshop (RHFS) scheduling problems and establish simulations and processing models, this paper uses Wolf Pack Algorithm (WPA) as global optimization. For local assignment, it takes minimum remaining time rule. Scouting behaviors of wolf are changed in former optimization by means of levy flight, extending searching ranges and increasing rapidity of convergence. When it comes to local extremum of WPA, dynamic regenerating individuals with high similarity adds diversity. Hanming distance is used to judge individual similarity for increased quality of individuals, enhanced search performance of the algorithm in solution space and promoted evolutionary vitality.A painting workshop in a bus manufacture enterprise owns typical features of re-entrant hybrid flowshop. Regarding it as the algorithm applied target, this paper focus on resolving this problem with LDWPA (Dynamic wolf pack algorithm based on Levy Flight). Results show that LDWPA can solve re-entrant hybrid flowshop scheduling problems effectively. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this study, generalized self-tuning regulator (STR) based on support vector regression (SVR) which was previously introduced [1] is deployed to control a continuously stirred tank reactor (CSTR) system. The parameters of the Fuzzy PI D controller utilized in the controller block are tuned via SVR based parameter estimator and system model blocks. The performance of the controller has been evaluated by simulations carried out on the CSTR system. © 2017 EMO (Turkish Chamber of Electrical Enginners).

The article deals with the use of modern technologies that can improve the thermal comfort in buildings. The article describes the usage of thermal energy storage device based on the phase change material (PCM). The technology improves the thermal capacity of the building and it is possible to use it for active heating and cooling. It is designed as a "green technology" so it is able to use renewable energy sources, e.g., photovoltaic panels, solar thermal collectors, and heat pump. Moreover, an interesting possibility is the ability to use thermal energy storage in combination with a photovoltaic system and thermoelectric coolers. In the research, there were made measurements of the different operating modes and the results are presented in the text. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2017.

The transparent building element filled with Phase change materials (PCMs) represent an innovative solution that can achieve thermal comfort in buildings lowering the cooling and heating demand. There are many different PCMs which are used in the building element. Salt hydrates can absorb a large amount of energy and have properties similar to water. Nevertheless, these materials have a tendency to supercool (supercooling effect) and to incongruent melt. This paper reports the results of the measurement specific four-pane window filled with a PMCs. Thermal properties of the window were tested in the climate simulator where the climatic conditions were dynamically controlled. The measurement confirmed high thermal inertia of the window and also reducing heat transfer through the window. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2017.

Smart DC micro/nanogrids have become the subject of much attention in recent years due to the growing interest in adding renewable energy sources and electric vehicles to residential and small buildings. The multi-bus hybrid microgrid has the potential to feed different loads with more appropriate voltage. This paper presents a new topology of bidirectional Flyback multiple winding converter, which can be used in microgrid systems. The proposed converter can interconnect several DC voltage buses that provide power in all directions. The control technique allows the safe converter' switching and proper power flux control. Operation stages and simulation results of a four winding converter are presented. © 2017 IEEE.
