An improved method to detect coherence time in wireless communications channel based on auto correlation functions

Coherence Time of a wireless communication channel is needed to determine the duration of time during which the channel will be static. If the receiving end is aware of this Coherence Time parameter, another Coherence Time related parameter, Doppler Shift, will be recognized. Very few of the numerous Doppler Shift studies use Coherence Time as the basis for detecting Doppler Shift. This is because the Coherence Time parameters for each channel model will have different values and be hard to detect. Our previous studies have been carried out to determine the Coherence Time detection method on a V2V channel but its correlation coefficient was below 0.5, which is not compatible with the theory. Therefore, this study aims to enhance the method with better correlation coefficient value above 0.5. This method was applied on V2V channel with moving scatterers and Correlated Double-Ring (CDR) channel models. This study can be therefore utilized as a guide for detecting the duration of Coherence Time on wireless communications channels, with the findings of Coherence Time detection being compared to the Coherence Time value calculated theoretically to get the accuracy rate. The accuracy rate on the V2V channel with moving scatterer has an accuracy value of up to 80.2%, while the accuracy rate on the CDR channel has an average accuracy value of up to 90.2%, according to the test results of the Coherence Time detection method that we present. Further, our proposed method could be implemented to determine the data symbol sent in a single frame in order to obtain a higher BER value in wireless communications such as Wi-fi, Cellular or V2V. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

The most commonly used technique in time-frequency analysis is the short-time Fourier transform. It can be used to determine the spectral components as they change over time by computing the Fourier transform of a windowed segment of the signal. A fundamental constraint of this method is that the frequency resolution of the representation in the time-frequency domain will be linear by design. The frequency adaptive nonstationary discrete Gabor transform offers an alternative that does not have this limitation. A Luenberger observer is capable of the implementation of the short-time Fourier transform, and its numerical advantages are already established based on the work of Hostetter and Péceli. Here, we introduce the family of discrete Gabor transforms and its properties along with a constructive method to define such transforms. Furthermore, we show that they are realizable by Luenberger observers which are capable of the error-free reconstruction of the observed signal in finite steps. The dead-beat property is derived for the state variables as well which estimate the transform of the windowed signal. © 2025 Budapest University of Technology and Economics. All rights reserved.

The equivalent circuit of the transformer is an abstract model that describes the real behavior of the transformer. Today, several equivalent circuits are known. The most well-known are the T-equivalent circuit and the $\Pi$ -equivalent circuit that derives from it. Parameters are typically estimated by nameplate nominal parameters, short-circuit, open-circuit measurements, etc. In this procedure, the simplifications used introduce inaccuracies into the estimate. This paper describes an iterative method that minimizes inaccuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

This work modeling the collection efficiency of an ESP numerical model based on industrial plant development. Under high dust loads, one power supply controlled the voltages on the two separation zones. The separation efficiency is different depending on the diameter of the dust particles, so the two zones receive dust particles with various distributions, and the electrical characteristics are not the same. In this article, we show the change in the efficiency of separation when the two zones are controlled at different voltages by power supplies. © 2024 Budapest University of Technology and Economics. Electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) play a crucial role in removing harmful particles in various industries. Ongoing studies continuously strive to improve their performance and efficiency, leveraging the inherent advantages of ESPs. Researchers are exploring various types of collecting and discharge electrodes to achieve this. This study specifically focuses on comparing two types of collecting electrodes, Semicircular Corrugated Plates (SCPs) and inverted Semicircular Corrugated Plates (InvSCPs), against Flat Plates (FPs) as a reference case. Three distinct forms of ESPs were simulated, and the SCP and InvSCP designs were evaluated against the FPs, specifically assessing the impact of modifying the collecting electrode design on key electrostatic precipitator characteristics, such as electrical field distribution, space charge density distribution, particle trajectories, and particle collection efficiency. Notably, the study found that using SCP resulted in the highest particle collection efficiency compared to InvSCP and FP for the same range of particles. © 2024 Budapest University of Technology and Economics. This tertiary systematic literature review examines 29 systematic literature reviews and surveys in Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) to uncover trends, limitations, and future directions. The study explores current explanation techniques, providing insights for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers interested in enhancing AI transparency. Notably, the increasing number of systematic literature reviews (SLRs) in XAI publications indicates a growing interest in the field. The review offers an annotated catalogue for human-computer interaction-focused XAI stakeholders, emphasising practitioner guidelines. Automated searches across ACM, IEEE, and Science Direct databases identified SLRs published between 2019 and May 2023, covering diverse application domains and topics. While adhering to methodological guidelines, the SLRs often lack primary study quality assessments. The review highlights ongoing challenges and future opportunities related to XAI evaluation standardisation, its impact on users, and interdisciplinary research on ethics and GDPR aspects. The 29 SLRs, analysing over two thousand papers, include five directly relevant to practitioners. Additionally, references from the SLRs were analysed to compile a list of frequently cited papers, serving as recommended foundational readings for newcomers to the field. © 2024 IEEE.

Addressing Scalability Issues of Blockchains with Hypergraph Payment Networks

Payment channels are auspicious candidates in layer-2 solutions to reduce the number of on-chain transactions on traditional blockchains and increase transaction throughput. To construct payment channels, peers lock funds on 2-of-2 multisig addresses and open channels between one another to transact via instant peer-to-peer transactions. Transactions between peers without a direct channel are made possible by routing the payment over a series of adjacent channels. In certain cases, this can lead to relatively low transaction success rates and high transaction fees. In this work, we introduce pliability to constructing payment channels and graft edges with more than two endpoints into the payment graph. We refer to these constructions as hyperedges. We present hyperedge-based topologies to form hypergraphs and compare them to Bitcoin's Lightning network and other state-of-the-art solutions. The results demonstrate that hyperedge-based implementations can both increase transaction success rate, in addition to decreasing the network cost by more than 50% compared to that of the Lightning Network. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Nowadays the world of modern technologies brings new ways of communication and interaction between people. Online communication becomes faster and more convenient, but it also enables an exchange of more dangerous information. Antisocial behaviour in online web discussions becomes one of the most serious problems. This paper is focused on the analysis and identification of the most typical attributes of antisocial behaviour in the online space. Our research attempts to distinguish the most characteristic features of suspicious contributors to identify attributes that can define antisocial behaviour in the best way. The main objective is to evaluate the success of these attributes in the automatic detection of the suspicious contributors—trolls using classification methods of machine learning such as naïve Bayes, decision trees, random forest, logistic regression, and support vector machine. The methods were selected from the point of view of evaluation of suitability of individual attributes and evaluation of selected sets of attributes. The results of test of models learned using mentioned methods are discussed from this point of view and lead to a selection of a small set of attributes from all considered attributes. © The Author(s) 2025.

Bali is very famous for traditional architectur. Not everyone is able to identify the various Balinese ornament patterns or Balinese pepatran just based on their visual attributes. This is because the patterns have high similarities even though they have different classes. To solve this problem, a machine learning model was developed using the LVQ method. In this model, preprocessing is carried out involving scaling, grayscale conversion and sobel edge detection to obtain strong features and enable the model to obtain high accuracy. A total of 210 pepatran images, which 168 pepatran images or 80% of the images used as training data and 42 or 20% of the pepatran images used as testing data. Twelve classes representing each used pepatran comprise the data in this research. The model has been shown to be effective in identifying Balinese pepatran patterns. Performance testing and Accuracy Testing were two testing techniques used to evaluate the successfully constructed system. An accuracy of 92.86% is obtained with 40 Balinese pepatran that can be correctly recognized based on accuracy testing using the influence of changes in learning rate, maximum epoh, and epsilon so that the best learning rate parameters are 0.06, epoh 20, and epsilon 0.0001 from 42 testing data used. The outcomes demonstrated that the system was able to identify and categorize traditional Balinese pepatran, with the image being classed and recognized depending on the outcome of Sobel feature extraction. © 2024 ACM.
