Automatic Short Answer Grading (ASAG) is a scoring system where specific short answers in free text form can be assessed automatically. This system helps students and workers to do continuous training so that the literacy skills of students and workers can increase significantly. Previous research shows that scoring using quantitative scale assessment metrics increased student motivation more than letter grade scale assessment metrics. In addition, the IndoBERT-based ASAG model for regression analysis shows relatively good results. Despite this finding, the impact of text preprocessing and data augmentation on the constructed ASAG model is yet to be analyzed. Therefore, this study will comprehensively analyze these processes' effects on the performance of the IndoBERT-based ASAG model for regression analysis. The experimental results show that the use of data augmentation and text preprocessing affects the RMSE of the IndoBERT model. Although data augmentation does not significantly improve model performance in the lifestyle topic subset, it significantly improves performance in other categories. This method made the best model with RMSE 0.99925 on the lifestyle topic subset. In addition, the pre-processed text affects the IndoBERT-based ASAG model. The best performance was achieved without pre-processing on the lifestyle topic subset with an RMSE of 0.961. On the contrary, the worst performance was found in the subset of political topics using stemming without data augmentation with RMSE 2.105. Text pre-processing tends to make model performance could be better. However, the refinement process is more stable in the context of lifestyle and technology topics after pre-processing. © 2023 ACM.

This paper presents the results of an empirical study investigating the impact of unit test quality on the following aspects of software development: the development time, the ability to solve all tasks, the perceived software understanding and the presence of adequate feedback. For this purpose, an application was developed with two test suites, one containing high-quality tests and the other low-quality tests. The study was performed on 53 graduate students of computer science, who were randomly divided into 3 groups: students with high-quality tests (Q), students with low-quality tests (L), and students with no tests (N). The goal was to observe the differences between the groups when solving different tasks. Based on the results obtained, it can be said that a significant time difference could be discovered between the groups Q and L, as the Q group completed the individual tasks in a shorter time. In addition, a connection between the presence of quality tests and having adequate feedback has been found. Those who had high-quality tests received appropriate feedback much more often than those who had low-quality tests. © 2024 IEEE.

Competency Manager is a software application designed to manage key competencies in nursing, providing systemic support to manage managerial competencies, which are also crucial for nursing but are currently undervalued. This application was developed within a project of applied research for a specific client, a health care facility. The architecture and significance of the software application have already been published. This article focusses on creating a model for managing managerial competencies, which, unlike other competency groups, were not subject to legislative norms, but aimed to meet the client's needs. The article outlines theoretical foundations and evidence-based methods (stakeholder engagement strategy, evidence-based implementation with change agents, discussion, brainstorming, and Delphi method for review within expert panel) leading to the selection, description, and implementation of 9 core managerial competencies within the created model. © IDIMT *** rights reserved.

The pandemic produced by the COVID-19 virus has resulted in an estimated 6.4 million deaths worldwide and a rise in unemployment rates, notably in the UK. Healthcare monitoring systems encounter several obstacles when regulating and anticipating epidemics. The study aims to present the AF-HIDOP model, an artificial neural network Fast Fourier Transform hybrid technique, for the early identification and prediction of the risk of Covid-19 spreading within a specific time and region. The model consists of the following five stages: 1) Data collection and preprocessing from reliable sources;2) Optimal machine learning algorithm selection;3) Dimensionality reduction utilising principal components analysis (PCA) to optimise the impact of the data volume;4) Predicting case numbers utilising an artificial neural network model, with 52% accuracy;5) Enhancing accuracy by incorporating Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) feature extraction and ANN, resulting in 91% accuracy for multi-level spread risk classification. The AF-HIDOP model provides prediction accuracy ranging from moderate to high, addressing issues in healthcare-based datasets and costs of computing, and may have potential uses in monitoring and managing infectious disease epidemics. The procedure and results of phases two and three will be explained briefly in this study;however, identifying the performance of ML algorithms before and after tuning is essential. Hence, a second part will follow this article to elaborate on phases two and three. © 2023 IEEE.

The exchange of knowledge is widely recognized as a crucial aspect of effective knowledge management. When it comes to sharing knowledge within Prison settings, things get complicated due to various challenges such as limited resources, social stigma, isolation, communication barriers, and security concerns. Additionally, there's a scarcity of resources dedicated to promoting knowledge sharing in secure environments. This study aims to dig deep into the key factors that influence how knowledge is shared in Indonesian prisons. To navigate this intricate terrain, the study uses questionnaires distributed among Prison officers to understand the complex relationship between the identified critical factors and knowledge sharing in Prison. Leadership support, organizational culture, organizational structure, incentives, and individual beliefs emerge as pivotal elements in knowledge sharing. It's also noted that the connection between these critical factors and the intention to share knowledge is significantly influenced by organizational structure. Recognizing and addressing critical factors in knowledge sharing within prisons not only improves rehabilitation within prison walls but also transforms the broader criminal justice system. This approach fosters evidence-based practices, better communication, and a comprehensive understanding of factors leading to successful rehabilitation and reduced recidivism, ultimately creating a more just and effective system. © 2024 International Conferences e-Society 2024 and Mobile Learning 2024. Data security aims to achieve confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data. To reach confidentiality, different encryption algorithms are needed. The most used today are RSA, AES, and Diffie-Helman. Although these algorithms are considered secure today, as the performance of computers increases, their security is radically reduced. Concerning the increasing performance of modern computers and the effort to use encryption algorithms in devices with limited memory, new encryption algorithms are being developed. Although post-quantum encryption algorithms are considered the most promising direction in this area, some scientists are also dealing with mutations of encryption algorithms. In this article, we deal with the design of two simple encryption algorithms - Vigener's cipher and matrix encryption. Next, we test these algorithms from the point of view of time requirements. © 2024 IEEE.

This study presents an innovative method to improve the accuracy of indoor mapping by deploying and integrating a sensor that transmits two-dimensional data with a three-dimensional mesh created by another device. The Iterative Closest Point algorithm was used to coordinate the different data sets and transform their different coordinate systems into a common indoor map. Prior to this, rigorous image cleaning and matching processes are conducted to ensure the quality of the data used. The effectiveness of this methodology has been validated through multiple tests using a Lidar scanner and a HoloLens 2 Augmented Reality device. This method not only offers potential for enhancing indoor navigation and safety protocols like emergency evacuation but also presents opportunities for advancing asset tracking and other applications. © 2024 IEEE.

The paper aims to study the influence of the power supply voltage of a brushless DC (BLDC) motor with variable geometry on the torque and its efficiency parameters in two extreme geometric instances, called Geom. 0 - unformed and Geom. 10 - total deformed. The motor rotor has a variable geometry due to the specific design of permanent magnets called compound magnets which are elastic. The BLDC motor is started from 0 rpm and no resistant load (torque) up to the rated speed of rotation when the resistant load is applied. The stator and rotor geometries are modeled only to be able to extract some data from the FEM simulations and are not optimized according to all the design rules and principles of BLDC electric machines, since the purpose of the present study is the comparison of the machine behaviors at different geometric instances of the rotor. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper addresses the design and implementation of a visualization tool for type checking terms of simply typed lambda calculus. Motivated by the need for a user-friendly and effective tool to understand the type-checking process of programs within this system, we chose to use Elm language to implement a tool. The tool includes step-by-step construction of the type-checking tree, with the ability to control certain aspects of the visualization, such as the abbreviation of context and the displaying of rule names used. A successful usability test of the system highlights its effectiveness in improving understanding of simply typed lambda calculus and its ability to provide a clear and interactive interface for users. This tool can be a useful teaching aid in university courses dedicated to type theory. © 2024 IEEE.

Room Occupancy Detection Based on Random Forest with Timestamp Features and ANOVA Feature Selection Method

To improve energy efficiency, understanding occupant behavior is crucial for adaptive temperature control and optimal electronic device usage. Our study introduces a room occupancy detection system using machine learning and Internet-of-Things sensors to predict occupant behavior patterns. Initially, indoor IoT sensor devices are installed to observe occupant behavior, and datasets are generated from sensor data, including temperature, humidity, light, and CO2 levels, in both occupied and vacant rooms. The collected dataset undergoes analysis through a machine learning-based model designed to classify room occupancy. First, the timestamp features, extracted from date-time data, such as time of day and part of the day, are extracted. ANOVA feature selection is applied to identify five crucial features. Ultimately, the random forest model is employed to classify room occupancy based on the selected features. Results indicate that our proposed model significantly outperforms other models—achieving improvements of up to 99.713%, 99.467%, 99.676%, 99.676%, and 99.571% in accuracy, precision, recall, specificity, and F1-score, respectively. The trained model holds potential for integration into web-based systems for real-time applications. This predictive model is poised to contribute to the optimization of electronic device efficiency within a room or building by continuously monitoring real-time room conditions.
