The aim of this paper was to investigate the ability of small water fern of Azolla pinnata to survive when exposed to diesel *** experimental work of phytoremediation was conducted in a green house in the outdoor conditions for an observation period of 10 ***,the small water fern,Azolla pinnata was exposed to 10,20,30,40,and 50 mL/L (V Diesel /V Water).After one day of exposure,Azolla pinnata died for all diesel concentration due to high level of diesel *** to that,Azolla pinnata was exposed to another set of diesel concentrations of 0.5,1,3,and 7 mL/*** 10 days of exposure,the fern can only survive with concentrations of 0.5,1 and 3 mL/L but died in 7 mL/L at the end of 10 *** the end of exposure period 20% of Azolla pinnata were withered at lower concentration of 0.5 mL/L and 100% withered at higher concentration of 7 mL/L.

Reaction crystallization of struvite from water solutions containing 1.0 mass % of phosphate(V) ions by means of magnesium and ammonium ions action was investigated experimentally. The process was carried out in a DTM type crystallizer with liquid type jet pump in temperature 298 K assuming stoichiometric conditions. Struvite crystals of mean size L m from 4 to 22.4 μm were produced depending on pH (pH from 9 to 11) and mean residence time of suspension in a crystallizer vessel (τ from 900 to 3600 s). In such process conditions linear growth rate of struvite crystals, calculated with SIG MSMPR kinetic model, decreases 2-time with the increase in pH level and 3-time with the elongation of mean residence time of suspension in a crystallizer, namely from 7.15 x 10 –9 m/s (pH 9, τ 900 s) to 1.16 x 10 –9 m/s (pH 11, τ 3600 s). Nucleation rate changed within the 9.3 x 10 8 – 9.0 x 10 9 1/(sm 3 ) range. Crystal product of the best formed crystals, which maximal sizes reached 90 μm while content of crystals of sizes below 3 μm was ca. 12%, corresponded to pH 9 and mean residence time of suspension in a crystallizer 3600 s.

Experimental work concerning continuous reaction crystallization of struvite MgNH4PO 4 .6H2O from diluted aqueous solutions of phosphates(V) (1.0 mass % of PO4) is presented. Laboratory tests were carried out in a DT MSMPR type crystallizer in 298 K assuming stoichiometric ratio of the reagents. Influence of pH (8.5 – 10) and mean residence time of suspension in a crystallizer (900 – 3600 s) on product crystal size distribution, their size homogeneity and process kinetics was identified. Struvite crystals of mean size from ca. 23 to ca. 86 m, of diverse homogeneity (CV 62 – 90%) were produced. The largest crystal sizes of acceptable homogeneity corresponded to pH 8.5 and mean residence time elongated up to 3600 s. Under these conditions struvite nucleation rate did not exceed 2.9 10 7 1/(s m 3 ) according to SIG MSMPR kinetic model. Linear growth rate of struvite crystals within the parameter ranges tested varied from 4.33 10 –9 to 1.75 10 –8 m/s.

Complex effect of sulphate(VI) ions on the continuous struvite (MgNH4PO4 6H2O, MAP) reaction crystallization process kinetics in DT MSMPR crystallizer and its final results was modeled numerically using artificial neural networks. Network was used as a multidimensional correlation between selected technological control process parameters (three inputs representing [SO4 2– ]RM: 0.05 – 1.0 mass %, pH: 9–11 and mean residence time: 900 – 3600 s) and 43 size–channels of struvite product CSD (43 outputs corresponding to L within the 5.0 10 –7 –1.8 10 –4 m range). Network model reproduces experimental, nonlinear ln n ( L ) data correctly and accurately. Presenting CSD in a form of population density distribution ln n ( L ) made direct theoretical insight and identification of potential various kinetic mechanisms dominating for required <[SO4 2– ]RM, pH, > vectors in various L ranges possible.
