This paper proposes a recommendation method considering users' time series contexts which are situations that have occurred/will occur in the past/future. There are some recommendation methods that provide information suitable for users' action patterns as the recommendation methods considering them. These methods provide information referring to the other users that have a similar action pattern to that of an active user. However, since a user's action pattern changes depending on the user's contexts, the methods need to refer to the other users' action patterns related to the current user's contexts. In this paper, we propose a recommendation method considering the user's time series contexts considering that the user's action pattern changes depending on the user's contexts. Copyright 2009 ACM.

A new features based algorithm for face recognition is proposed. The algorithm is based on locating features on faces and finding the correspondence of these features between faces using an algorithm which is adopted from the works of Yasein and Agathoklis. The algorithm is using feature extraction through filtering with Mexican-hat wavelets and detection of correspondence of the feature points through comparison of Zernike moments. The transformation of the feature points between images is obtained using an iterative weighted least-squares algorithm which allows to eliminate outliers. The face recognition is based on the residual error between the feature points after transformation. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated using experiments with a face database and compared against existing techniques for face recognition. The results of experiments with varying pose and illumination conditions show that the proposed method performs well compared to existing feature based face recognition techniques.

The architecture of designed intrusion detection system is based on two layer hybrid model for event detection. System function is based on analysis parts of network flow in a real communication and offers processing of this data in a real time. The core of the first layer are detection sensors, which offer base processing based on statistical methods with direct interconnection to countermeasure module. Performance and accuracy of designed system is secured with central distributed processing, in which is used detection based on particular event description, which foregoing intrusion. The architecture presented in this article is a result of teamwork of Department of computer and informatics and Institute of computer technologies of Technical University of Kosice. Its partial results are processed in author's master thesis and research within the APPV-0073-07 project.

This paper introduces a method for better communication between collaborating engineers and between engineer and entity generation processes at the definition of products in modeling systems. The authors recognized the importance of correct human-computer- human communication by using of product model as a special medium for engineers. In order to establish a product model that is appropriate for this purpose, they integrated all influencing effects on a product in an influencing space. In order to record content of influencing by engineers and other influencing persons, authorities, etc., the currently prevailing information based product model is completed by representation of information content. This paper emphasizes some relevant issues of information content. Definition of this contents starts from modeling of human intent. Intent model is consists of information about the owner of an intent, characteristics of that intent, and representation of content of intent in some form of knowledge. Information content is organized in the interconnected intent, behavior, and decision spaces. In a hierarchical system, intent space is at the highest and decision space is at the lowest level hierarchy assuring human intent based automation of decision making on engineering object in an improved product model.

E-Learning makes it possible for learners to study at any time. With the improvement of ubiquitous technologies and corresponding devices, learners can conduct their learning activities without any limitations from the environment. Instructors can utilize various kinds of resources to create more plentiful learning materials for learners. In this situation, instructors or learners have to spend more time on collecting relevant resources for a specific purpose. In our previous works, we utilized the geographical information and RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) to develop an outdoor adventure game to support learning procedures. In this paper, we go further to propose and develop a resource retrieval mechanism to assist learners in collecting relevant learning resources. This mechanism can be regarded as a search procedure. We aim at providing search results in the order of relevant degree based on learners' current geographical information. It can make resource retrieval more efficient in ubiquitous learning environments.
