Smart home network mechanism via cloud computing

Traditional smart home system based on TCP/IP network applies TC35i cell phone module in smart home controller, and realizes function of short message service by GSM network. This realization model is complex, high-cost, hard to test, and it cannot ensure the short messages could be received and sent successfully. Using the advantages of Cloud computing system, we present a kind of smart home network mechanism solution based on Cloud computing in this paper. Two important constituents in the proposed solution, i.e., SGIP exterior short message gateway and residential quarter information system are described in detail. Moreover, the error ratio of system decreases markedly by improving the short message interface. The proposed smart home network mechanism solution via Cloud computing can be a referential model of the digital life application research based on Cloud computing platform. ©2012 by Binary information Press.

Software testing includes static testing and dynamic testing. The static testing needn't run the program to be tested. The static analysis belongs to static testing, whose purpose is to collect program's information in order to do further analysis. This paper aims at analyzing the structure for java program and gaining the information at three different levels, including control flow graph at statement level, call graph at class-member level and class relation graph at class level. Then a structure analysis tool for java program (SAT4JP) is designed and implemented. Finally, some experiments are executed to verify the effectiveness of our method and SAT4JP. © 2011 IEEE.

Software changes are inevitable during the process of software evolution. To accommodate the changes in the software process, it is necessary to analyze the impacts of the changes. Software change impact analysis (CIA) is a key technique for identifying unpredicted and potential effects caused by changes made to software. CIA allows developers assessing the possible effects of a change, which plays an important role in software maintenance. In this paper, we present the static CIA technology based on program dependence graph (PDG) through analyzing possible change impacts for Object-Oriented source code. An analysis prototype tool for C++ program is implemented. The experimental results show that the method is effective. © 2011 IEEE.

There are two methods to design software model, object-oriented and component-oriented. Embedded system has the characteristics of real-time, hierarchy and heterogeneousness. Disadvantage of object-oriented method is so much functional coupling that system's characteristics cannot be described well. Component-oriented method can meet the system's characteristics well because of components independent from each other. We introduce actor-oriented Ptolemy II modeling method, using atomic actor and composite actor by tree structure to solve hierarchy of the system, and using different computation model interaction to solve real-time heterogeneity of the system. This paper describes the principle of small water fountain control software and compares the advantages and disadvantages between component-oriented Ptolemy II platform and object-oriented UML modeling. Water fountain control software is modeled in the form of different actor-oriented components and then simulates based on Ptolemy II platform. As a result, expected result is achieved. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Open and dynamic environments lead to the stochastic nature of QoS (Quality of Service). This makes customers be required to select the Web services with minimal risk so that the possibility of the difference between actual QoS performance and the ex- pected is minimized. In this paper, we propose a stochastic QoS-aware services selection approach that is formulated as a stochastic Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM) model. In this model, QoS of the candidate services is random variables with known probability distributions. By combining user constraints and probability distributions of QoS, semi-variance is used to evaluate QoS risk of alternatives. Thus, the stochastic MADM problem can be transformed into a deterministic one, which is solved with Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). Example and simulation results show the effectiveness of our approach for services selection. © 2011.

A real time distributed computing system has heterogeneously connected computers to solve a single problem. If the transactions run across different sites, it may commit at one site and may get fail at other site, leading to an inconsistent transaction. The transaction in a real time database system has deadlines to process the workloads and it need to process transactions before these deadlines expired. Series of simulation study have been performed to manage the missed transactions under different transaction management conditions such as different workloads, distribution methods, execution mode-Distribution and Parallel, impact of dynamic slack factors to throughput. The scheduling of data access are done in order to meet their deadlines and to minimize the number of transactions that missed deadlines. A new approach called as “intelligent agent” method is introduced. This agent will keep track and does recording of the status of failing transactions so that we can provide an extra slack time to improve the performance of the system.

Indian Railways have one of the biggest infrastructures in terms of number of Express trains run per day across cities . It is comparable to any railways in the world. For each Express train there is a "TATKAL" scheme that reserves few seats on emergency basis. In the existing scheme for each seat a ticket is issued after charging a fixed price. However, for different distance different fixed price is charged. The allocation of tickets are purely based on the first-come-first-serve basis. But from our experience we have seen that the urgency of a person standing in the queue may be much more than any other person in front of him and that person is ready to pay a higher price than the fixed one to get the ticket, in case the tickets are exhausted before his turn coming. So, since the Indian railways charge a fixed price, they lose a significantly large amount of revenue as a considerable number of travelers may be willing to pay a much higher price than the fixed price for an assured reservation. In this paper we have proposed an auction based truthful mechanism for selling some tickets of TATKAL scheme and have shown that our auction based scheme is significantly better than the existing scheme in terms of the total income earned per annum. Our scheme could be applied in any railway system.

In this paper, a method for hand posture recognition, which is robust for hand posture changing in an actual environment, is proposed. Conventionally, a data glove device and a 3D scanner have been used for the feature extraction of hand shape. However, the performance of each approach is affeected by hand posture changing. Therefore, this paper proposes the posture fluctuation model for efficient hand posture recognition, based on 3D hand shape and color feature obtained from a stereo camera. A large set of dictionary for posture recognition is built by various leaned hand images which were auto-created from one scanned hand image, based on plural proposed models. In order to show the effectiveness of proposed method, performance and processing times for posture recognition are compared to conventional method. In addition, we perform the evaluation experiment by using the Japanese sign language. © 2010 IEEE.

Web service technologies are becoming increasingly important for integrating service-oriented applications. The Web services reverse engineering process becomes necessary in order to facilitate the reuse and composition of Web services. This paper describes a model driven Web service reverse engineering process, where Web service descriptions (WSDL) are transformed to UML models, then the generated UML models are integrated into composite Web services, finally the new Web service descriptions (OWL) are generated.
