Cross-Layer Distributed Attack Detection Model for the IoT

The security of IoT that is based on layered approaches has shortcomings such as the redundancy, inflexibility, and inefficiently of security solutions. There are many harmful attacks in IoT networks such as DoS and DDoS attacks, which can compromise the IoT architecture in all layers. Consequently, cross layer approach is proposed as an effective and practical security defending mechanism. Cross-layer distributed attack detection model (CLDAD) is proposed to enhance security solutions for IoT environments. CLDAD presents a general detection method of DDoS in sensing layer, network layer, and application layer. CLDAD is based on big data analytics techniques, which enable the detection process to be performed in a distributed way, so the model can detect DDoS attacks in any layer on-the-fly and the model support the scalability of the IoT environment. CLDAD is tested based on three datasets, namely artificial jamming attack dataset, BoT-IoT dataset, and BoT-IoT-based HTTP. These days, spectrum insufficiency is the most common issue. If the number of smartphone users who access the radio spectrum grows, the radio spectrum becomes increasingly scarce. Certain types of technology equipment are designed to work only within a specific spectrum range, and there is rivalry in specifications for various other applications. As a result, this paper effectively exploits a licensed user’s unused spectrum to reduce the crowded spectrum and eradicate the Radio spectrum shortage. Licensed primary users (PUs) and secondary users (SUs) would be accepted into a Fusion Centre (FC) based on a spectrum framework with authentication. The approved PUs begin by updating their information to FC1;thenceforth, encryption is performed on the information uploaded to FC1. This information from FC1 is stored in Cloud Storage after encryption using the Blowfish algorithm & De-oxy DNA, a fast encryption algorithm. Following that, FC2, connected to the same cloud environment, downloads the PU data uploaded. The spectrum is then allocated to the authenticated SU linked to FC2 based on signal conditions and priority. This proposed method also avoids any delay in the network and encryption by acquiring a fast encryption algorithm, making the system faster and avoiding the Primary User Emulation (PUE) attack. Later, the time taken for the Tiny Encryption Algorithm (TEA) and the Blowfish/DNA algorithm are compared to validate the run time for different input images. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

This article introduces a new medical internet of things(IoT)framework for intelligent fall detection system of senior people based on our proposed deep forest *** cascade multi-layer structure of deep forest classifier allows to generate new features at each level with minimal hyperparameters compared to deep neural ***,the optimal number of the deep forest layers is automatically estimated based on the early stopping criteria of validation accuracy value at each generated *** suggested forest classifier was successfully tested and evaluated using a public SmartFall dataset,which is acquired from three-axis accelerometer in a *** includes 92781 training samples and 91025 testing samples with two labeled classes,namely non-fall and *** results of our deep forest classifier demonstrated a superior performance with the best accuracy score of 98.0%compared to three machine learning models,i.e.,K-nearest neighbors,decision trees and traditional random forest,and two deep learning models,which are dense neural networks and convolutional neural *** considering security and privacy aspects in the future work,our proposed medical IoT framework for fall detection of old people is valid for real-time healthcare application deployment.

Air quality forecasting is critical for environmental monitoring and public health, and in this study, we propose a hybrid approach utilizing Gooseneck Barnacle Optimization (GBO) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to enhance predictive accuracy. The air quality dataset, comprising pollutant concentrations (CO, NOx, benzene) and meteorological factors (temperature, humidity), is sourced from the UCI Machine Learning Repository. GBO is employed to fine-tune the ANN's hyperparameters (especially the weight and bias), as well as the number of layers, neurons, and activation functions, to improve regression-based forecasting. The GBOANN model achieves a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.562 and a Root Mean Squared Percentage Error (RMSPE) of 5.63%, outperforming other metaheuristic methods like BMO, SSA, DA, MVO, and EMA. This study demonstrates the GBO-ANN model's potential for accurate real-time air quality forecasting, offering a robust, sustainable solution. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper investigates the differences in dipole current and input impedance due to different source models in the framework of boundary element formalism. The half-wavelength and full-wavelength dipole antennas are placed in free space and above a lossy medium. Antenna current and input impedance are obtained by numerically solving the Pocklington's integro-differential equation via Galerkin-Bubnov Indirect Boundary Element Method (GB-IBEM). Two different feeding structures are used as excitation sources, a delta gap source model usually used under GB-IBEM formalism and a magnetic frill source model. Different segment numbers are also used. The results indicate that the current magnitude in case of half-wavelength dipole antenna varies to a relatively great extent depending on the applied voltage generator model. Input impedance does not vary due to different source models, however, its value changes greatly with segment number. © 2023 IEEE.

Crowd management and analysis(CMA)systems have gained a lot of interest in the vulgarization of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)*** tracking using UAVs is among the most important services provided by a *** this paper,we studied the periodic crowd-tracking(PCT)*** consists in usingUAVs to follow-up crowds,during the life-cycle of an open crowded area(OCA).Two criteria were considered for this *** first is related to the CMA initial investment,while the second is to guarantee the quality of service(QoS).The existing works focus on very specified assumptions that are highly committed to CMAs applications *** study outlined a new binary linear programming(BLP)model to optimally solve the PCT motivated by a real-world application study taking into consideration the high level of *** closely approach different real-world contexts,we carefully defined and investigated a set of parameters related to the OCA characteristics,behaviors,and theCMAinitial infrastructure investment(e.g.,UAVs,charging stations(CSs)).In order to periodically update theUAVs/crowds andUAVs/CSs assignments,the proposed BLP was integrated into a linear algorithm called PCTs *** main objective was to study the PCT problem fromboth theoretical and numerical *** prove the PCTs solver effectiveness,we generated a diversified set of PCTs instances with different scenarios for simulation *** empirical results analysis enabled us to validate the BLPmodel and the PCTs solver,and to point out a set of new challenges for future research directions.

This paper presents human pose estimation using millimeter-wave (mmWave) radar technology capable of penetrating obstacles. Operating within the frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) at 60 - 64 GHz, our radar system generates signals conducive to accurate human pose representation. Our data processing framework focuses on producing point cloud data, effectively capturing each human movement. Results are visualized through a 2D graph, with the z-axis representing time. Experimental data, collected from various activities conducted behind different walls, underwent thorough analysis, comparing point cloud positions with actual human postures. The outcomes affirm the effectiveness of mmWave radar systems, positioned behind obstacles, in accurately extracting human postures. © 2024 IEEE.

Discontinuity in long Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) sequences creates harmful diseases. Changes in the DNA structure refers to changes in the human immunity system. Tuberculosis is a critical disease that causes coughing, fatigue, unintentional weight loss and fever on aged people due to the disorder in the DNA. Breaks or mutations over long DNA sequences are the pivotal reasons for this fatal disease. This study developed an automated machine learning technique to assess the total number of such breaks in the long DNA sequences. Data cleansing and deep neural network techniques are applied to handle this big data. The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) database has been used to extract the amino acid sequences for Tuberculosis disease from the big DNA datasets. Results reveal that the proposed automated approach is significantly effective for the determination of DNA sequence breaks for the tuberculosis diseases due to the high sensitivity of Markov chain as well as the effective normalization techniques. This approach fixed the size of the training datasets and recursively divide the whole dataset into certain length. The study also adopts multiple predictions approaches, such as the hidden Markov chain, Box-Cox transformation and linear transformation to forecast about the breaks for any long positions of the training and testing datasets. The results demonstrated that hidden the Markov chain model provided faster analysis with more accurate and reliable results. © Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2018.

Purpose: Watermarking is one of the techniques used to protect multimedia data, and images in particular, from malicious attacks by inserting a signature into these images. However, traditional watermarking schemes encounter limitations for sensitive images such as medical images. Methods: In this work, a robust and blind watermarking approach is proposed to secure medical images exchanged in telemedicine. Marking medical images allows precise authentication of the patient and avoids confusing scans and thus avoiding diagnostic errors that can have serious consequences. In this approach, the frequency content of the image is acquired using three different transforms. Schur decomposition is then applied to the low-frequency sub-bands. Finally, the obtained upper triangular matrix values are modifier to integrate the watermark bits. Result and conclusion: Imperceptibility and robustness experimental results show that the proposed methods adequately maintain a significant quality of watermarked images and are remarkably robust against several conventional attacks. Indeed, the average peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) obtained is 44.90 dB which proves that the integration process generates few distortions to the original image. For the robustness, the obtained results show that the watermark is resistant to the most common attacks used in watermarking with a normalized cross correlation rate higher than 0.9 for the majority of the attacks. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to The Brazilian Society of Biomedical engineering.
