Code smells are common in poorly designed software that can hinder code maintainability. Automatic detection of design flaws assists developers in identifying code smells in theirsoftware programs to avoid low-quality delivery. However, the interpretation of code smells is subjective, and existing machine learning-based detection tools are limited in their ability to capture complex semantic relationships in textual code. To address this limitation, the paper proposes a detection system that exploits machine learning and deep learning techniques and compares their effectiveness in identifying the feature envy code smell. The study applies six deep learning techniques based on code semantics features extracted from abstract syntax trees, and eleven machine learning techniques based on code structural features. The results show that both approaches are effective in detecting code smells, with Random Forest achieving exceptional performance among the machine learning classifiers.

Air pollution is one of the problems that is often occurred in the cities with high industrial and transportation levels. Several informations are needed by the community so that they can be use it for people's health concerns. Air Quality Index is a standard for determining air quality and pollution based on the main parameters, namely: Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), Ozone (O3), and Particulate Dust (PM10 and PM2.5). While, for the methods, we suggest Long Short-Term Memory model which have good performance in identifying safe air quality for activities. The model conducts training with a parameter of 100 epoch, learning rate = 0.001, batch size = 32. Testing uses the optimizer, activation function, and the right function to measure air quality with an accuracy of up to 98%. Thus, we adjust LSTM model with Adamax optimizer and Sigmoid activation function is the best parameter to get the highest accuracy. © 2022 IEEE.

Conditions of the underwater environment have its challenges in the underwater vision research process. Some things that make underwater imagery difficult is that light can be scattered by particles in the sea, besides that light can be absorbed by seawater, as well as the turbidity level of seawater, so special techniques are needed to get clear underwater imagery. In underwater environmental conditions, the images obtained are usually of very poor quality. Backlight and attenuation will occur this is due to water conditions, objects that dissolve easily in water, and other particulate matter so that there is the degradation of the underwater image. Because it is very important if the image is improved in quality to facilitate the process of describing objects. Image matching techniques to determine the key points of image pairs are needed in three-dimensional reconstruction research. Speeded Up Robust Features (SURF) is an image matching technique where the matching results are very dependent on the image quality. This study proposes the Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) method to increase the number of matching images with SURF. The results of the experiment showed that image matching increased by an average of 76,8 %. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Ontologies are a standard tool for creating semantic schemata in many knowledge intensive domains of human interest. They are becoming increasingly important also in the areas that have been until very recently dominated by subsymbolic knowledge representation and machine-learning (ML) based data processing. One such area is information security, and specifically, malware detection. We thus propose PE Malware Ontology that offers a reusable semantic schema for Portable Executable (PE – the Windows binary format) malware files. This ontology is inspired by the structure of the EMBER dataset, which focuses on the static malware analysis of PE files. With this proposal, we hope to provide a unified semantic representation for the existing and future PE-malware datasets and facilitate the application of symbolic, neuro-symbolic, or otherwise explainable approaches in the PE-malware-detection domain, which may produce interpretable results described by the terms defined in our ontology. In addition, we also publish semantically treated EMBER data, including fractional datasets, to support the reproducibility of experiments on EMBER. We supplement our work with a preliminary case study, conducted using concept learning, to show the general feasibility of our approach. While we were not able to match the precision of the state-of-the-art ML tools, the learned malware discriminators were interesting and highly interpretable. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Parking areas in urban centers are increasingly limited, but not in line with technological developments in addressing the problem of parking service needs in the urban public service center by implementing smart city technology. Many times the parking service waiting time is too long, due to a complicated procedure. Waiting time for services that are too long makes the parking queue increase in length, especially when registering for the end of a new parking lot. Besides, the storage of visitors' parking slip accumulation is still manual and not paperless. Therefore, in this study, a solution was proposed in the form of a system to accelerate administrative services for parking visitors by integrating Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) technologies. This system utilizes the database so that the results of data processing can be used by management to obtain visitor data information on parking online and quickly. The results obtained from this study are a prototype of a parking visitor monitoring system using WSN technology based on Zigbee and RFID protocols. Meanwhile, the results of visitor parking information presented in data processing can be used by management to find out statistical data relating to parking services. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Citrus Limon L. (Lemon) is a type of fruit that is currently widely consumed, because it contains abundant vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants. This fruit have high potential in the agribusiness sector and is widely cultivated by traditional farmers. However, during harvest time, traditional farmers generally still use manual methods using the human eye in distinguishing the maturity level of lemons which is less efficient because it has a low accuracy. Digital image processing is one solution to this problem. In the research on the classification of lemon maturity levels using digital image processing with the feature extraction method of the Mean RGB, HSV, and LBP methods and the K-Nearest Neighbor classification algorithm in this study, a total of 120 lemon images were used which were divided into 80 training image data and 40 image data. testing. The results of model performance measurements in the form of the highest accuracy level in the Mean RGB method of 100%, the highest accuracy in the HSV method of 98%, and the highest accuracy in the LBP method of 82.5%. © 2023 IEEE.

A pedagogical agent is an animated interface in an interactive online learning environment. Its role involves guiding users through instructions and participating in direct discussions. Numerous research studies underline the advantages of pedagogical agents in delivering instruction, tailoring learning experiences, and promoting inclusivity. The authors utilize machine learning techniques to develop an interactive multimodal application (combining visuals and audio) designed as a pedagogical agent. This application is intended to assist in teaching primary school students (aged 6 to 8) the recognition of colors and letters. Additionally, it incorporates voice interaction to assess their learning progress. The overarching objective of this pedagogical agent is to seamlessly integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into educational settings, thereby amplifying student engagement and motivation during the learning process. This paper will explore the journey of creating a machine learning-based application and its potential utility in supporting educators. Furthermore, the authors will investigate potential augmentations that could render the application more adept at aiding students with dyslexia. The paper will emphasize the significance of human-computer interaction (HCI), as it significantly shapes pedagogical agents' design and operational aspects.

The need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the high price of fossil fuels have made renewable resources attractive in energy-based economies around the world. Renewable energy sources will make up a significant part of the modern energy system in the future because they have promising potential. Many countries are already working to increase their capacity for renewable energy. The placement of renewable resources in power systems has gained significant attention due to their potential to provide power to distribution feeders or near consumers. However, the integration of these resources can have adverse effects on the distribution network, which necessitates their placement to be carefully considered. In this study, a novel method of coordinating protection devices based on the current control of distributed production sources using their current-voltage diagram during fault conditions is suggested. The proposed method aims to address the coordination and regulation problems encountered when integrating scattered resources into the network. To evaluate the effectiveness of our approach, we compare the impact of the presence of renewable sources at various points on the network during flooding. We conduct simulations using the ETAP software and present the obtained results. The proposed protection coordination method effectively mitigates the challenges of integrating renewable resources into the distribution network, providing a promising solution to support the transition towards a more sustainable energy future. © 2023 IEEE.

Biomedical signals are extremely difficult to analyze, mainly due to the non-stationary nature of these signals. Filtering does not always bring the desired results, because often the desired information is filtered out. In the case of EEG signals, smoothing filters gave very good results. In this paper, various types of smoothing filters for the analysis of infrared spectroscopy signals were compared. © 2023 IEEE.

Industrial internet of things (IIoT) is the usage of internet of things(IoT) devices and applications for the purpose of sensing, processing andcommunicating real-time events in the industrial system to reduce the unnecessary operational cost and enhance manufacturing and other industrial-relatedprocesses to attain more profits. However, such IoT based smart industriesneed internet connectivity and interoperability which makes them susceptibleto numerous cyber-attacks due to the scarcity of computational resourcesof IoT devices and communication over insecure wireless channels. Therefore, this necessitates the design of an efficient security mechanism for IIoTenvironment. In this paper, we propose a hyperelliptic curve cryptography(HECC) based IIoT Certificateless Signcryption (IIoT-CS) scheme, with theaim of improving security while lowering computational and communicationoverhead in IIoT environment. HECC with 80-bit smaller key and parameterssizes offers similar security as elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) with 160-bitlong key and parameters sizes. We assessed the IIoT-CS scheme security byapplying formal and informal security evaluation techniques. We used Realor Random (RoR) model and the widely used automated validation of internet security protocols and applications (AVISPA) simulation tool for formalsecurity analysis and proved that the IIoT-CS scheme provides resistance tovarious attacks. Our proposed IIoT-CS scheme is relatively less expensivecompared to the current state-of-the-art in terms of computational cost andcommunication overhead. Furthermore, the IIoT-CS scheme is 31.25% and 51.31% more efficient in computational cost and communication overhead,respectively, compared to the most recent protocol.
