The rapid growth of machine learning(ML)across fields has intensified the challenge of selecting the right algorithm for specific tasks,known as the Algorithm Selection Problem(ASP).Traditional trial-and-error methods have become impractical due to their resource *** Machine Learning(AutoML)systems automate this process,but often neglect the group structures and sparsity in meta-features,leading to inefficiencies in algorithm recommendations for classification *** paper proposes a meta-learning approach using Multivariate Sparse Group Lasso(MSGL)to address these *** method models both within-group and across-group sparsity among meta-features to manage high-dimensional data and reduce multicollinearity across eight meta-feature *** Fast Iterative Shrinkage-Thresholding Algorithm(FISTA)with adaptive restart efficiently solves the non-smooth optimization *** validation on 145 classification datasets with 17 classification algorithms shows that our meta-learning method outperforms four state-of-the-art approaches,achieving 77.18%classification accuracy,86.07%recommendation accuracy and 88.83%normalized discounted cumulative gain.

The novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) spread rapidly around the world and caused overwhelming effects on the health and economy of the world. It first appeared in Wuhan city of China and was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). Many researchers, as well as experts in clinical and artificial intelligence experts, are working together to control the rapid spread of COVID-19 with early detection. This study focused on intelligent prediction for coronavirus using computational intelligence approaches (IPC-FCIA) like convolutional neural networks, support vector machines, and fuzzy logic techniques. The proposed IPC-FCIA model is based on two sections namely the training section and the validation section. Features fusion and decision-level fusion are used in this study to enhance the performance of the recommended IPC-FCIA model. The proposed model predicts the early detection of COVID-19 in two types COVID-negative and COVID-positive. The benchmark results of the model show an accuracy of 97.66 % on decision-level fusion in the detection of COVID-19. The proposed model can be helpful for medical experts as well as COVID-19-affected patients. © 2025 Institute of Electronics Engineers of Korea. All rights reserved.

Every year, countless people lose their lives in serious car accidents, and drowsy driving is a major cause. However, because the earliest indications of exhaustion can be identified before a dangerous scenario develops, the detection and signaling of driver drowsiness are ongoing research topics. This study presents a real-time detection system designed to detect driver’s sleep and deliver timely warnings. The mechanism employs an eye monitoring system that uses eye feature points to detect whether a driver’s eye is tired and delivers an alert if the driver is drowsy. The proposed work recognizes the driver’s face by collecting facial landmarks and gives warning to the driver to avoid crashes by performing adaptive thresholding and drowsiness diagnoses based on Eye Characteristic Ratio. The empirical results show that using random forest classifier, decision tree classifier, KNN classifier, and multinomial classifier, the proposed model achieved 90.48%, 89.44%, 88.63%, and 84.32% accuracy, respectively. © 2013 IEEE.

The gaming industry produces vast amounts of user-generated feedback, making it challenging for developers to efficiently analyze and respond to real-time reviews. This study addresses the problem of classifying large-scale unstructured user feedback from Steam reviews. In this paper an approach that integrates traditional machine learning models and deep learning models is proposed. XGBoost is used to manage feature-rich datasets, reducing overfitting. Long-short-term memory (LSTM) and Bi-directional LSTM are used to enhance the accuracy and robustness of classification. Feature extraction techniques, such as sentiment analysis and topic modeling, are employed to enrich the dataset and improve model performance. The experimental results show that the XGBoost model achieved the highest performance with an accuracy of 0.9499 and a ROC-AUC score of 0.6113, demonstrating superior performance in distinguishing between positive and negative feedback. In comparison, deep learning models such as LSTM and Bi-directional LSTM showed lower ROC-AUC scores, indicating less effectiveness in handling the classification task. This approach offers game developers a reliable and scalable solution for classifying user sentiment, leading to better game improvements based on user reviews. © 2025 by the authors of this article.

Images are widely used in social networks, necessitating efficient and secure transmission, especially in bandwidth-constrained environments. This paper aims to develop a color image encryption algorithm that enhances security while optimizing computational efficiency. A novel parallel color image encryption algorithm based on the 2D Logistic-Rulkov neuron map (2D-LRNM) is proposed. In this approach, the three channels of the color image are first separated. Cross-channel information interaction is introduced to form three new channels, which are then processed in parallel. During the encryption process of each channel, a block-wise parallel encryption mechanism is applied, ensuring simultaneous encryption of each block. This block-wise strategy effectively leverages parallel computing resources and balances the task load. To meet the demand for a large number of keystreams during encryption, the 2D-LRNM is introduced. It combines the simplicity and chaotic properties of the Logistic map with the multi-timescale dynamics and neurodynamic behaviors of the Rulkov map. By overcoming the dimensional limitations inherent in the single Logistic map, this approach extends the system to a two-dimensional framework, significantly increasing the complexity of chaotic behavior and improving its unpredictability. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed encryption algorithm achieves high security and reduces computation time by approximately 83.3%. © 2014 IEEE.

The public release of ChatGPT represents a significant milestone in generative AI technology, enabling the autonomous generation of content based on pre-training. This breakthrough presents new opportunities for advancements in the field of portfolio selection. This paper aims to introduce a comprehensive portfolio selection method by applying ChatGPT for stock selection and combining it with optimization algorithms to jointly optimize portfolio selection. Compared to randomly selected stocks, the portfolios optimized using ChatGPT-selected stocks and solved with the egret swarm optimization algorithm (ESOA) demonstrate higher diversification and lower volatility, leading to superior portfolio optimization results. Additionally, to validate ESOA’s superiority, its performance is compared against genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) on five metrics: risk, expected return, Sharpe ratio, objective value, and penalty term. As healthcare services have become increasingly digitized, Electronic Health Records (EHRs) have become widely adopted, providing seamless data exchange among providers. Conventional EHRs, however, are extremely vulnerable to cyber threats because patients' sensitive data is centralized and transmitted electronically. The paper proposes a decentralized, privacy-preserving framework for managing EHRs on blockchains in order to address these security and privacy concerns. Using cryptographic techniques, such as homomorphic encryption and zero-knowledge proofs, the proposed system enhances security and ensures data integrity. Additionally, the model facilitates scalable, efficient, and secure access to patient records through the integration of cloud-based storage and blockchain. Using smart contracts, we also ensure compliance with healthcare regulations by regulating access control and authentication. As a result of performance evaluations, the proposed approach is demonstrated to be feasible, and the advantages it offers in terms of security, privacy, and efficiency are highlighted. © 2025 The Authors

Estimating the optimal parameter values for photovoltaic (PV) models is inherently challenging due to the complex and nonlinear nature of their current–voltage (I–V) characteristic curves. Precise parameter estimation is critical for ensuring the efficient operation of PV systems, as it directly influences energy output and current generation. Traditional methods for addressing this problem often suffer from convergence to local optima and require substantial computational resources, particularly concerning the count of fitness evaluations. To overcome these challenges, this paper presents an enhanced optimization method: the Brown Bear Optimization Algorithm (BBOA) hybridized with Diagonal Linear Uniform Initialization (DLUI) and the Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm, termed BBOA-DLUI-DE. This hybrid approach's innovative design lies in integrating the DE algorithm to enhance solution diversity, ensuring better exploration and preventing premature convergence. DLUI contributes to a uniformly diverse initial population that supports rapid and robust optimization. This synergy between BBOA, DLUI, and DE addresses the limitations of existing methods by combining efficient global search capabilities with effective local refinement. The proposed BBOA-DLUI-DE method has been rigorously evaluated against state-of-the-art techniques, demonstrating superior performance in finding optimal parameter values for various PV models. Comparative statistical and practical analyses highlight that BBOA-DLUI-DE outperforms traditional methods regarding accuracy and computational efficiency. Furthermore, validation using manufacturing data sheets (MCSM55 and TFST40) confirms the practical applicability and robustness of the proposed method, making it a highly effective tool for estimating PV parameters. © 2025 The Authors

In this paper, the current, voltages, as well as active and reactive power of the 400 kV transmission line are calculated using three different methods. The objective of the paper is to demonstrate and compare three different approaches that are based on laboratory measurement, analytical approach, and computer simulation. Measurements are carried out on the laboratory model of a real-life 400 kV transmission line while analytical approach is conducted using a short line model with lumped parameters. As a last approach, the transmission line is modeled in a computer program for power flow analysis, and power flow simulations with the same parameters as for the previous two methods are performed. All three methods are used to calculate voltages, currents, and powers at the beginning and at the end of the transmission line for a few scenarios. Results are compared and discussed in order to demonstrate the possibilities of the applied approaches for the education of power system engineers. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

DeepFakes and face image manipulation methods have been widely distributed in the last few years and several techniques have been presented to check the authenticity of the face image and detect manipulation if exists. Most of the available manipulation detection techniques have been successfully applied to reveal one type of manipulation under specific conditions, however, many limitations and challenges can be encountered in this field. To overcome some limitations and challenges, this paper presents a new face image authentication (FIA) scheme based on Multi-Task Cascaded Conventional Neural Networks (MTCNN) and watermarking in Slantlet transform (SLT) domain. The proposed FIA scheme has three main algorithms that are face detection and selection, embedding, and extraction algorithms. Different block sizes have been used to divide the image into non-overlapping blocks followed by classifying them into two groups that are blocks from face area (FA) and blocks from the remaining area (RA) of the image. In the embedding algorithms, the authentication information is generated from FA blocks and embedded in the RA blocks. In the extraction algorithms, the embedded information is extracted from RA blocks and compared with the calculated data from FA blocks to reveal manipulations and localize the manipulated blocks if exist. Extensive experiments have been conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed FIA scheme for different face images. The experimental work included tests for payload, capacity, visual quality, time complexity, and localization of manipulations. The results proved the efficiency of the proposed scheme in detecting and localizing different face image manipulations such as attributes attacks, retouching attacks, expression swap, face swap, and morphing attacks.
