This study proposes a novel nature-inspired meta-heuristic optimizer based on the Reptile Search Algorithm combed with Salp Swarm Algorithm for image segmentation using gray-scale multi-level thresholding,called *** proposed method introduces a better search space to find the optimal solution at each ***,we proposed RSA-SSA to avoid the searching problem in the same area and determine the optimal multi-level *** obtained solutions by the proposed method are represented using the image *** proposed RSA-SSA employed Otsu’s variance class function to get the best threshold values at each *** performance measure for the proposed method is valid by detecting fitness function,structural similarity index,peak signal-to-noise ratio,and Friedman ranking *** benchmark images of COVID-19 validate the performance of the proposed *** results showed that the proposed RSA-SSA outperformed other metaheuristics optimization algorithms published in the literature.

Route selection in residents' travel is a key link in travel decision-making in transportation systems. In existing studies, discrete choice models are often used to describe residents' travel path choices. However， with today's highly developed big data, the traditional discrete choice model is too simple to represent residents' travel path choices, ignoring the connection between various factors. Therefore, a big data-driven approach is proposed to solve this problem in this paper. Driven by research data and with the introduction of the Bayesian network model, the paper adopts a hill-climbing search strategy to improve the search efficiency, uses a variety of scoring functions to train data, which optimizes the Bayesian network structure. The experimental results show that the model fully considers the causation between the independent variables, which is more logical and makes the construction of the resident travel route selection model more accurate and efficient. © 2023 SPIE.

This study examines the accuracy and ethical implications of using convolutional neural networks (CNN) for automated crime detection. A CNN model was trained on a dataset of criminal mugshots to identify potential criminal behaviour based on facial features. This study analyzed the performance of the model and achieved a high accuracy rate in identifying criminals. However, the ethical implications of automated criminal detection are also explored, including bias, privacy and human rights violations. The findings of this study highlight the need for caution and ethical considerations when implementing automated crime detection technologies. It is important to ensure that such technologies are not used to violate the rights of individuals or perpetuate societal biases. © 2023 IEEE.

Inductive wireless power transfer (WPT) system uses alternating magnetic field to transmit power from the transmitter to the receiver. To confine the magnetic field, WPT coils are realized with high permeability substrate material that ensures shielding. Aside from shielding, high permeability substrate also increases the coil inductance. When transmitter and receiver coils are placed in close proximity, high permeability substrate of transmitter coil increases the inductance of the receiver coil, and vice versa. This additional inductance increase is a function of the substrate material type and the distance between the coils. To achieve high efficiency and low losses of the WPT system, a capacitor network is added to both transmitter and receiver coil. In a common serial-serial (S-S) WPT system topology, the capacitor networks are asymmetric, i.e. the capacitor network of the transmitter and the receiver are not identical. The efficiency of asymmetric S-S topology is significantly impaired due to variable coil inductance. To attain high efficiency in such operating conditions, this paper proposes symmetric S-S WPT topology with emphasis on transmission distance optimization.

This article presents numerical simulations focused on static magnetic fields, employing a Mu-metal cage for shielding against the geomagnetic field. The objective is to verify, how homogeneous and uniform magnetic field within the magnetic field applicator is created. Square Helmholtz coils are employed to ensure this homogeneity. Observations indicate a 5.3% deviation in the B-field when the coils are supplied with a DC current of 110 mA. In the absence of a DC field supply, a 12% deviation is observed. The impact of extremely low-frequency electromagnetic fields and static magnetic fields on living organisms is well-documented, emphasizing the significance of even small changes and deviations in the magnetic field. This underscores the importance of employing a Mu-metal cage when investigating the effects of these fields. Numerical simulations using specialized software demonstrate that the highly permeable Mu-metal box provides approximately 90% shielding efficiency against the geomagnetic field. © 2023 IEEE.

This research paper investigates the examination of Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC) implementation within ultra-dense 5G networks. The study focuses on the theoretical foundations of SIC, encompassing its system and channel models modified for Ultra-Dense Networks (UDNs). A mathematical model is formulated to assess critical network performance metrics such as Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR), Success Probability and Spectral Efficiency after the application of SIC in the network. The effectiveness of SIC is evaluated through simulations and compared against existing interference mitigation techniques like Zero Forcing. The simulations results show that the proposed model has potential to subdue the interference-related issues, such as improved success and probability. By knowing the capabilities and limitations of SIC, network operators can make informed decisions to optimize network performance and provide enhanced user experiences. Through an exploration of SIC's principles and advantages, this study aims to shed light on its potential for effectively mitigating interference and improving the Success Probability and Spectral Efficiency of B5G networks in real-world scenarios. © 2023 IEEE.

The recognition of the Arabic characters is a crucial task incomputer vision and Natural Language Processing fields. Some major complicationsin recognizing handwritten texts include distortion and patternvariabilities. So, the feature extraction process is a significant task in NLPmodels. If the features are automatically selected, it might result in theunavailability of adequate data for accurately forecasting the character ***, many features usually create difficulties due to high dimensionality *** this background, the current study develops a Sailfish Optimizer withDeep Transfer Learning-Enabled Arabic Handwriting Character Recognition(SFODTL-AHCR) model. The projected SFODTL-AHCR model primarilyfocuses on identifying the handwritten Arabic characters in the inputimage. The proposed SFODTL-AHCR model pre-processes the input imageby following the Histogram Equalization approach to attain this *** Inception with ResNet-v2 model examines the pre-processed image toproduce the feature vectors. The Deep Wavelet Neural Network (DWNN)model is utilized to recognize the handwritten Arabic characters. At last,the SFO algorithm is utilized for fine-tuning the parameters involved in theDWNNmodel to attain better performance. The performance of the proposedSFODTL-AHCR model was validated using a series of images. Extensivecomparative analyses were conducted. The proposed method achieved a maximum accuracy of 99.73%. The outcomes inferred the supremacy of theproposed SFODTL-AHCR model over other approaches.

In today’s modern world, efficient programming is a necessity. To speed up code generation nowadays, programming code is generated using different graphical tools. Although efficient, this technology is scarcely used in embedded system development. In this paper, we present a procedure for block-based visual programming with applications in embedded systems development. We present several examples of blocks using the Blockly open-source visual programming tool and test the implementation on selected Infineon XMC-based boards. The presented programming solution shows successful implementation of block-based visual programming in embedded systems development.

Today, system identification plays a pivotal role in control science and offering a myriad of applications. This paper places its focus on the identification of actuator models within real-world delta robots for informing controller design. Two identification methods, namely NN-ARX and ARMAX, have been employed to extract the dynamic characteristics of the robot actuators, resulting in dynamic models of these integral components being derived. These dynamic models have been utilized in simulations for controller design, and due to the disparities in the identification models, distinct controllers have been realized. Subsequently, these controllers have been practically implemented on delta robots, and their performances have been subjected to a comprehensive comparative analysis. The results demonstrate that controllers integrating the identified actuator models outperformed those designed without the incorporation of the identification models. In practice, the implementation of controllers based on NN-ARX yielded the most favorable results among all the tested controllers. This research not only underscores the importance of accurate actuator models in control system design but also highlights the superior performance of neural network-based controllers in real-world robotic applications. In particular, the practical results of NN-ARX-based controllers were able to achieve significantly lower RMSE of 2.3562, 1.9531, and 2.1185 for the three motors, respectively, as opposed to the 4.1369, 3.0125, and 3.0363 achieved by the ARMAX-based controllers. © 2023 IEEE.
