Adaptive isomap feature extractive gradient deep belief network classifier for diabetic retinopathy identification

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is an infection that bases eternal visualization loss in patients with diabetes mellitus. With DR, the glucose level in the blood increases, as well as its viscosity, this results in fluid leakage into surrounding tissues in the retina. In other words, DR represents the pathology of capillaries and venules in the retina with leakage effects, being the main acute retinal disorder caused by diabetes. Many DR detection methods have been previously discussed by different researchers;however, accurate DR detection with a reduced execution time has not been achieved by existing methods. The proposed method, the Shape Adaptive box linear filtering-based Gradient Deep Belief network classifier (SAGDEB) Model, is performed to enhance the accuracy of DR detection. The objective of the SAGDEB Model is to perform an efficient DR identification with a higher accuracy and lower execution time. This model comprises three phases: pre-processing, feature extraction, and classification. The shape adaptive box linear filtering image pre-processing is carried out to reduce the image noise without removing significant parts of image content. Then, an isomap geometric feature extraction is performed to compute features of different natures, like shape, texture, and color, from the pre-processed images. After that, the Adaptive gradient Tversky Deep belief network classifier is to perform classification. The deep belief network is probabilistic and generative graphical model that consists of multiple layers such as one input unit, three hidden units, and one output unit. The extracted image featuresare considered in the input layer and these images are sent to hidden layers. Tversky similarity index is applied in hidden layer 1 to analyze the extracted features with testing features. A Riccati Matrix Equation Solver Design Based Neurodynamics Method and Its Application

Riccati matrix equation (RME), a critical nonlinear matrix equation in autonomous driving and deep learning. However, memory-compute separation in traditional solving systems leads to latency and inefficiency when solving nonlinear equations, particularly under real-time requirements. Existing hardware lacks dedicated accelerators for RME, no specialized solvers quick addressing its nonlinear complexity. To address this issue, we propose a novel RME solver based on a memristive array, which leverages the parallel and fast computing advantages of analog circuits to quickly solve any order RME. Inspired by Neurodynamics for non-linear matrix equations, we first introduce an innovative Neurodynamics-based RME solving algorithm specifically designed from an analog circuit perspective. Based on this algorithm, we constructed a pioneering closed-loop analog circuit solver, overcoming bottlenecks in using circuits for such nonlinear matrix equations. Our evaluation demonstrates that the proposed solver achieves over 90% accuracy for a 128th-order parameter Riccati matrix equation. Compared to traditional digital processors, the solver offers significant energy efficiency advantages and is three orders of magnitude faster than CPU. Additionally, the solver successfully accelerates our proposed dung beetle optimizer-linear quadratic control algorithm for vehicle suspension control, achieving high precision while significantly reducing time and energy consumption compared to CPU and GPU. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Neuroadaptive Containment Control for Nonlinear Multiagent Systems With Input Saturation: An Event-Triggered Communication Approach

In this article, a neuroadaptive event-triggered containment control strategy combined with the dynamic surface control (DSC) approach is proposed for nonlinear multiagent systems (MASs) with input saturation. Based on the event-triggered communication mechanisms, the updates of neural network weight and controllers are implemented solely under triggering conditions of violation, which markedly reduces unnecessary communication resources and minimizes inefficient control costs compared with the traditional control method. Radial basis function neural networks (RBF NNs) are employed to handle the nonlinear uncertainties of MASs. Simultaneously, an adaptive compensatory mechanism is incorporated within the backstepping process to address the nonlinear effect posed by input saturation. Additionally, we demonstrate the system stability by extending the Lyapunov theorem to jump and continuous scenarios while excluding Zeno behavior, realizing that all followers can enter the convex hull constructed by leaders. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed methodology is verified through application simulations. © 2013 IEEE.

Feature selection is a cornerstone in advancing the accuracy and efficiency of predictive models, particularly in nuanced domains like socio-economic analysis. This study explores nine distinct feature selection methods, utilizing a heart disease dataset as a representative model for complex socio-economic systems. Our findings identified four universally recognized features as critical across all selection methods. However, the divergence in significance attributed to other features by different methods underscores the inherent variability in selection techniques. When the top four features were incorporated into twelve classification models, a noticeable surge in predictive accuracy was observed, emphasizing their foundational role in enhancing model outcomes. The variations among methods stress the need for a methodical and discerning approach to feature selection, especially in data-rich socio-economic landscapes. As we venture further into an era defined by data-driven decision-making, rigour and precision in feature selection become indispensable. Future research should extend this approach to broader datasets, ensuring the robustness and adaptability of our findings. © The author(s) 2025.

Smartphones contain a vast amount of information about their users, which can be used as evidence in criminal cases. However, the sheer volume of data can make it challenging for forensic investigators to identify and use the most relevant information. Neutrosophic logic is a generalization of fuzzy logic that allows for uncertainty and vagueness, making it a more potent tool for dealing with the ambiguity of real-world data. The proposed framework aims to identify and utilize the most relevant information for forensic investigators, making it easier to solve criminal cases using Neutrosophic logic. This novel approach provides a more powerful tool for dealing with the ambiguity of smartphone data, ultimately improving the accuracy and effectiveness of forensic investigations. Our research has utilized Neutrosophic logic to evaluate the degree of truth, falsity, or Indeterminacy of this information. Additionally, this study analyzes conversations between individuals using Excel’s fuzzy lookup add-in to determine the percentage of truth and false in each conversation. The results were compiled into a dataset and utilized a Neutrosophic Python code to evaluate the information. The results indicate the percentage of truth, false, and Indeterminacy in each conversation and which can be used to determine its admissibility as evidence and which not. © 2025, University of New Mexico. ChatGPT is a powerful artificial intelligence(AI)language model that has demonstrated significant improvements in various natural language processing(NLP) tasks. However, like any technology, it presents potential security risks that need to be carefully evaluated and addressed. In this survey, we provide an overview of the current state of research on security of using ChatGPT, with aspects of bias, disinformation, ethics, misuse,attacks and privacy. We review and discuss the literature on these topics and highlight open research questions and future *** this survey, we aim to contribute to the academic discourse on AI security, enriching the understanding of potential risks and mitigations. We anticipate that this survey will be valuable for various stakeholders involved in AI development and usage, including AI researchers, developers, policy makers, and end-users.

Visual question answering(VQA)is a multimodal task,involving a deep understanding of the image scene and the question’s meaning and capturing the relevant correlations between both modalities to infer the appropriate *** this paper,we propose a VQA system intended to answer yes/no questions about real-world images,in *** support a robust VQA system,we work in two directions:(1)Using deep neural networks to semantically represent the given image and question in a fine-grainedmanner,namely ResNet-152 and Gated Recurrent Units(GRU).(2)Studying the role of the utilizedmultimodal bilinear pooling fusion technique in the *** the model complexity and the overall model *** fusion techniques could significantly increase the model complexity,which seriously limits their applicability for VQA *** far,there is no evidence of how efficient these multimodal bilinear pooling fusion techniques are for VQA systems dedicated to yes/no ***,a comparative analysis is conducted between eight bilinear pooling fusion techniques,in terms of their ability to reduce themodel complexity and improve themodel performance in this case of VQA *** indicate that these multimodal bilinear pooling fusion techniques have improved the VQA model’s performance,until reaching the best performance of 89.25%.Further,experiments have proven that the number of answers in the developed VQA system is a critical factor that *** the effectiveness of these multimodal bilinear pooling techniques in achieving their main objective of reducing the model *** Multimodal Local Perception Bilinear Pooling(MLPB)technique has shown the best balance between the model complexity and its performance,for VQA systems designed to answer yes/no questions.

UltraSegNet:A Hybrid Deep Learning Framework for Enhanced Breast Cancer Segmentation and Classification on Ultrasound Images

Segmenting a breast ultrasound image is still challenging due to the presence of speckle noise,dependency on the operator,and the variation of image *** paper presents the UltraSegNet architecture that addresses these challenges through three key technical innovations:This work adds three things:(1)a changed ResNet-50 backbone with sequential 3×3 convolutions to keep fine anatomical details that are needed for finding lesion boundaries;(2)a computationally efficient regional attention mechanism that works on high-resolution features without using a transformer’s extra memory;and(3)an adaptive feature fusion strategy that changes local and global featuresbasedonhowthe image isbeing *** evaluation on two distinct datasets demonstrates UltraSegNet’s superior performance:On the BUSI dataset,it obtains a precision of 0.915,a recall of 0.908,and an F1 score of *** the UDAIT dataset,it achieves robust performance across the board,with a precision of 0.901 and recall of ***,these improvements are achieved at clinically feasible computation times,taking 235 ms per image on standard GPU ***,UltraSegNet does amazingly well on difficult small lesions(less than 10 mm),achieving a detection accuracy of *** is a huge improvement over traditional methods that have a hard time with small-scale features,as standard models can only achieve 0.63–0.71 *** improvement in small lesion detection is particularly crucial for early-stage breast cancer *** from this work demonstrate that UltraSegNet can be practically deployable in clinical workflows to improve breast cancer screening accuracy.

In the context of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), the role of vehicle detection and classification is indispensable for streamlining transportation management, refining traffic control, and conducting in-depth accident analyses. However, the intricate task of accurately detecting multi-oriented vehicles in diverse scenarios remains a challenge, even with the advancements in ITS. Factors such as vehicle morphology, design, road conditions, structural details, and climatic variables provide a significant part in the detection. To address this, our study introduces an advanced YOLOv8n model, specifically the YOLOv8n-CGW, which is built upon pre-trained deep learning frameworks. This model is meticulously tailored to enhance the detection capabilities for multi-oriented vehicles. Comprehensive evaluations on esteemed datasets like MtV, MERGED, Custom dataset, DAWN, WEDGE, and UA-DETRAC underscore the superiority of our approach over existing models. Notably, our YOLOv8n-CGW model achieves a remarkable mAP of 83.3% and boasts a swift inference time of 0.0019s, setting a new benchmark in the domain. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.
