In this work, the pre-trained model of the self-attention framework is proposed for single-channel speech separation. Firstly, all layers in the pre-trained self-attention framework are frozen. The model is then retrained through three stages using the scheduling mechanism for learning rates and the layers of the framework are unlocked following the schedule. This way, the model is relearned, enhanced, and updated from previous knowledge. This is an effective way to improve the advanced model performance while significantly reducing the time and cost of a training model. This method is beneficial in applying existing models to perform a similar task or enhancing model performance. In this strategy, the pre-trained system outperforms the non-pre-trained system since the following phases of the model’s training repurpose characteristics extracted through the previously trained early phases. The suggested method is tested and assessed on a conventional dataset. The findings from experiments suggest that the methodology has higher performance than the baseline framework and outperforms current methods for the monaural speech separation task. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

This paper proposes a novel PN (Pseudo Noise) synchronization system using Cycle-and-Add property of M-sequence featuring fast acquisition in DS-CDMA (direct sequence-code division multiple access). Fast acquisition is carried out by generating a PN sequence in a simple multiplicative action of a received signal with its delayed one. This multiplicative action is similar to differentially coherent detection and realizes an anti-fading property. Easy implementation is materialized by the fact that the system is mostly composed of baseband devices. The principle, performance evaluation and the detection probability of synchronization for the proposed method are shown. Furthermore, detection probability of synchronization in a fast Rayleigh fading channel is shown for the performance evaluation. UWB-based positioning systems have been proven to provide a significant high level of ac-curacy hence offering a huge potential for a variety of indoor applications. However, the major challenges related to UWB localization are multipath effects, excess delay, clock drift, signal interferences and system computational time to estimate the user position. To compensate for these challenges, the UWB system uses multiple anchors in the experiment area and this gives accurate position results with minimum localization errors. However, the use of multiple anchors in the UWB system means processing large amounts of data in the system controller for localization, which leads to high computational time to estimate the current user position. To reduce the complexity of the UWB systems, we propose a position estimator for multiple anchor indoor localization, which uses the extended Kalman filter (EKF). The proposed UWB-EKF estimator was mathematically analysed and the simulation results were compared with classical localization algorithms considering the mean localization errors. In the simulation, three classical localization algorithms: linearized least square estimation (LLSE), weighted centroid estimation (WCE) and maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) were used for performance comparison. Thorough extensive simulation done in this study achieves results which demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed UWB-EKF estimator for multiple anchor UWB indoor localization. © 2020 IEEE.

Essential proteins play an essential role in cell survival and replication. Currently, more and more computational methods are developed to identify essential proteins, which overcome the time-consuming, costly and inefficient shortcomings with biological experimental methods. In order to improve the recognition rate, some new methods by fusing multiple features are developed, but they seldom consider the connection among features. After analyzing a large number of methods based on multi-feature fusion, a weak consensus model to fuse features is proposed in this paper. Then, this paper uses the weak consensus model to fuse protein-protein interaction network, gene expression data, and orthologous data, thus proposing a new method, WOL. Then experiments are performed on one *** dataset. The results show that compared with WDC, PeC, ION, JDC, NCCO and E_POC, WOL has a higher recognition rate. © 2023 IEEE.

Purpose: The purpose of this article was to represent the first experience of applying a picture archiving and communication system (PACS) at the Universiti Putra Malaysia with the cooperation of Universiti Teknologi MARA hospital, and to analyze the applicability of PACS, its impact on health care, its benefits to medical employees, and propose a prototype application of PACS. Methods: The main PACS components were discussed, HL7 and DICOM standards were introduced, and a prototype of WebXA application was proposed. Results: The results of WebXA revealed the ability of this application to retrieve, store, and display angiography images on a web browser anywhere, as long as an Internet connection is provided. Conclusion: This article presented PACS with its components and standards, a prototype application was discussed and evaluated, and a few recommendations have been provided for more improvements in the future. © 2019 Khaleel et al.

A truly universal quantum computer is still on the small scale at the present. There has been no transition from the laboratory use of quantum computers to more widespread use of the technology. As a result, quantum simulation has emerged as the accepted norm for supporting the validation of quantum algorithms. Many conventional algorithms benefit from grover's quantum search method because it accelerates their usage of search heuristics. For better multi-core load balancing, memory utilization, and simulation efficiency, this research presented a high-performance grover method simulation that combines the benefits of grover's technique with the parallel of cloud computing. This study also suggests and experimentally compares five distinct cloud-based computing architectures that are well-suited to quantum simulation. Through research and testing, this study also verifies the optimization's efficiency. Depending on the size of the current configuration, the experimental results reveal that the simulation can reach 31 bits. © 2023 IEEE.

Recruitment in most organizations is normally a rather inefficient process where it takes quite a long time to match the right candidate to a given job. In this research, AI-based hiring system is recommended to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the hiring process with the help of NLP and machine learning algorithms. Employment enabling processes such as CV filtering, skill evaluation and personality profiling as well as job matching are achieved by the system. An NLP-based tool is used for short listing of CVs, assessment quizzes are used to evaluate different skills and qualifications of the candidates and chatbot enables communication between candidates and HRs, while an AI bot is used to complete different document verifications' processes. Recruitment operation is made easier and efficient, and matching of candidates to the available jobs is done better since it is less time-consuming and energy-demanding, giving a solution that may be implemented on a large scale. Further improvements are to be made in the fine tuning of algorithms, enlargement of comprehensiveness of systems and the implementation of actual sample cases before the introduction into the marketplace. © 2024 IEEE.

Air-ratio relates closely to pollution reduction, fuel efficiency and driveability among all of the engine control variables. Maintaining the air-ratio to be the stoichiometric value can obtain the best balance between power output and fuel consumption. The paper presents a nonlinear model predictive control algorithm for air-ratio regulation based on online neural network. The control algorithm has been implemented on a real car to test. The actual test results in experiments show that the proposed control algorithm can regulate the engine air-ratio to the stoichiometric value (1.0) under external disturbance with less than 5% tolerance. © 2010 IEEE.

Concept drift is a common phenomenon appearing in evolving data streams of a wide range of applications including credit card fraud protection, weather forecast, network monitoring, etc. For online data streams it is difficult to determine a proper size of the sliding window for detection of concept drift, making the existing dataset-distance based algorithms not effective in application. In this paper, we propose a novel framework of Density-based Concept Drift Detection (DCDD) for detecting concept drifts in data streams using density-based clustering on a variable-size sliding window through dynamically adjusting the size of the sliding window. Our DCDD uses XGBoost (eXtreme Gradient Boosting) to predict the amount of data in the same concept and adjusts the size of the sliding window dynamically based on the collected information about concept drifting. To detect concept drift between two datasets, DCDD calculates the distance between the datasets using a new detection formula that considers the attribute of time as the weight for old data and calculates the distance between the data in the current sliding window and all data in the current concept rather than between two adjacent windows as used in the exiting work DCDA [2]. This yields an observable improvement on the detection accuracy and a significant improvement on the detection efficiency. Experimental results have shown that our framework detects the concept drift more accurately and efficiently than the existing work. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
