Quasigroups have various applications in mathematics, computer science, and cryptography. In coding theory and cryptography they have been used in error-correcting codes, error-detection codes, to construct key exchange protocols and cryptographic primitives. There are also used in graph theory, experimental design and combinatorial designs. Quasigroups of order 2n can be represented as vector valued Boolean functions from {0,1}n×{0,1}n to {0,1}n. When the order of each coordinate functions is at most two, they are called Multivariate Quadratic Quasigroups (MQQ). In this paper we give a description of the functions representing Bilinear MQQ quasigroups, with a special focus on quasigroups that are commutative or associative. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Digital image quality is essential for a variety of applications in visual information processing, including medical diagnostics, defence, and many other applications. However, there are several challenges that must be overcome before an image can be used, and these often result in noise, distortion, and degradation. The field of image restoration is growing in significance as it focuses on repairing and restoring damaged images. With the increasing number of imaging equipment and the wide range of applications, image restoration techniques are becoming more and more important. Because of the challenges posed by low light levels, sensor noise, and other environmental limitations, more analysis on restoration strategies is needed. This study provides researchers, practitioners, and students with a clear understanding of image restoration techniques by providing an extensive overview of the developments in different fields. This research study offers a comprehensive analysis by analysing the development of these techniques, from traditional methodologies to the most recent deep learning approaches. Here we have proposed a novel architecture for image restoration, designed to facilitate seamless implementation and achieve high-quality results. © 2024 IEEE.

In-memory computing offers promising prospects for data-intensive applications, with memristor-aided logic (MAGIC) presenting a notable avenue. Logic synthesis for MAGIC-based systems entails mapping Boolean functions to memristor crossbars, where previous efforts often suffer from accurately evaluating multi-fanout node costs. In this paper, we propose a heuristic logic mapping method tailored for MAGIC-based in-memory computing, specifically addressing multi-fanout nodes' challenges. In addition, we also propose an automated equivalence checking methodology aimed at validating the correspondence between the design specification and the resulting micro-operations post-mapping. Our proposed method yields substantial improvements, with an average reduction of 13% and 10% in the requisite non-volatile memory when compared to state-of-the-art techniques across the ISCAS'85 and IWLS'93 benchmarks. Remarkably, these enhancements are achieved with only marginal increases of 1% and 2% in the required computation cycles. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper proposes a face recognition system based on steerable pyramid transform (SPT) and local directional pattern (LDP) for e-health secured login in cloud domain. In an e-health login, patients periodically forget their self-made login username and password. This face recognition system can replace the traditional login system. In the proposed system, SPT can decompose a face image into several sub-bands of different scales and orientations, and LDP can encode the sub-bands in binary texture pattern. The LDP binary pattern was obtained by computing the edge response values in all eight directions at each pixel position and generating a code from the relative strength magnitude. Therefore, SPT–LDP design represents a face image in a robust way which includes multiple information sources from different scales and orientations. The proposed system is tested on standard benchmark facial recognition technology (FERET) and extended Yale-B databases. Further, the efficiency of the proposed system is proved by comparing recognition rates with other existing descriptor based methods. From the experimental results it is observed that the proposed system achieves 99.79% recognition in fb set, 90.72% in fc set, 84.97% in dup I set, and 87.69% in dup II set for FERET database and 100% in sub2 set, 100% in sub3 set, 96% in sub4 set and 95% in sub5 set for extended Yale-B database which is better than the existing methods. © Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2018.

Random packed beds are often employed in chemical reactors as a means to increase the contact surface between reactants or a catalyst. The present work proposes a helical flow deflector placed within the bed and numerical simulations are performed to analyse the influence of the deflector on the tortuosity of the flow paths in the reactor and the pressure drop. The geometry of the packed bed is obtained in a separate numerical simulation with sequential deposition of ring-like equilateral particles. The flow equations are solved on a structured grid and the immersed boundary method accounts for the complex geometry of the random packing and the cylindrical walls of the reactor. The increase of the tortuosity leads to increase of the pressure drop along the reactor and the relation between them is studied as a function of the rise per revolution of the helical surface. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Nowadays, high energy amount is being wasted by computing servers and personal electronic devices, which produce a high amount of carbon dioxide. Thus, it is required to decrease energy usage and pollution. Many applications are utilised by green computing to save energy. Scheduling of tasks acts as an important process to reach the mentioned goals. It is worth stating that the vital characteristic of task scheduling in green clouds is the load balancing of tasks on virtual machines. Efficient load balancing moves tasks from overloaded to underloaded virtual machines to maintain the Quality of Service (QoS). This issue is an NP-complete problem, so this research suggests a new technique based on the behavioural structure of artificial bee behaviour. This method aims to improve QoS while lowering energy usage in green computing. In addition, the honey bees are considered the removed tasks from overloaded virtual machines and a candidate for migrating selected tasks with the lowest priority. The CloudSim testing findings demonstrate that the technique is successful in QoS, makespan, and energy usage compared to other ways. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

We consider the domain adaptation problem in the context of label shift, where the label distributions between source and target domain differ, but the conditional distributions of features given the label are the same. To solve the label shift adaptation problem, we develop a novel matching framework named class probability matching (CPM). It is inspired by a new understanding of the source domain's class probability, as well as a specific relationship between class probability ratios and feature probability ratios between the source and target domains. CPM is able to maintain the same theoretical guarantees as the existing feature probability matching framework, while significantly improving the computational efficiency due to directly matching the probabilities of the label variable. Within the CPM framework, we propose an algorithm named class probability matching with calibrated networks (CPMCN) for target domain classification. From the theoretical perspective, we establish a generalization bound of the CPMCN method in order to explain the benefits of introducing calibrated networks. From the experimental perspective, real data comparisons show that CPMCN outperforms existing matching-based and EM-based algorithms. © 2024 12th International Conference on Learning Representations, ICLR 2024. The efforts for data transparency and open government initiatives have resulted in a large amount of data being published on open data portals. These portals are organized to enhance published data accessibility by providing search mechanisms that utilize metadata such as category, tags, format, and publisher. However, due to the metadata incompleteness, such as missing category information, datasets are harder to find. Therefore, within this paper, we address the issue of missing category information by proposing an approach for categorizing datasets using keywords and their usage within categories. The presented approach is based on the Formal Concept Analysis method, which is used to create a hierarchical order of keywords grounded on their usage within categories on one open data portal. Further, we present the evaluation of the presented method using data from the Canadian open data portal. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents measurements of the reflection and transmission coefficient of electromagnetic waves through concrete and two concrete-based composites: concrete with steel fibers and concrete with carbon fibers with the aim of enhancing the attenuation of electromagnetic waves passing through concrete and concrete composites. The frequency range for which the measurements were carried out extends from 30 MHz to 18 GHz and includes most of the existing stationary (and mobile) radiation EM sources in the environment in which the general population moves (FM, DVBT2, 2G - 5G mobile radio systems, stationary radar border area control systems). The measurement results show that as the thickness of the concrete increases, the transmission through concrete and concrete composites decreases (parameter S12 decreases). Furthermore, composites with carbon fibers partially reduce, while those with steel fibers significantly reduce, the transmission of EM waves through such composites. The reduction of parameter S12 by composites with steel is up to 52 dB (at a frequency of 2.9 GHz) for a block thickness of 100 mm. It is important to emphasize that in the case of composites with steel fibers, the influence of the fibers on the transmission parameters is more significant than the thickness of the sample. The reason for this is the increase in electrical conductivity of composites with steel fibers due to the increased proportion of conductive components in the concrete. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
