The impact of hero selection on game outcomes is well-recognized, with input from respected streamers and commentators who emphasize the significance of hero choices. These insights, supported by substantial followers and views, underscore the importance of astute hero selection. However, hero selection is not straightforward due to factors like player proficiency and team strategy. While extensive game data allows us to gauge hero performance, practical challenges exist. To address these, a method for real-time outcome prediction based on hero selection is introduced. This approach includes an interface for hero selection, displays sections for hero information, and identifies both winning and losing heroes. The method also calculates and displays the financial advantage in-game, a crucial factor, and adapts to evolving patches, ensuring its reliability and accessibility to players. © 2024 IEEE.

Osteoporosis is a complex multifactorial skeletal disease and has become a major socioeconomic issue, causing tremendous hospitalization and rehabilitation costs. In addition to age, premature menopause or the use of oral corticosteroids, vertebral fractures are regarded as main risk factors for developing osteoporosis and associated fractures. In this work, we adapt an existing automated pipeline to classify fracture grades of individual vertebrae and the spine as a whole: First, vertebral body centers were identified on CT images by a hierarchical neural network. Next, the fracture grades of individual vertebrae were processed by a multi-head, feed-forward convolutional neural network. The sum of the classified grades was then evaluated according to the German radiology guidelines. A hyperparameter search on validation data showed the most promising results for an output configuration based on three sequentially applied binary classification outputs trained using binary cross-entropy: Grade 0-1 vs 2-3, and 0 vs 1-3, and 0-2 vs 3. In a cross-validation setting on 159 low-dose CT images, our pipeline accurately classified patients to have sum-scores ≥ 2 with sensitivities and specificities of 90 % ± 5.0 % and 87 % ± 2.7 %, respectively. As our method was based on classifying individual vertebrae, we were able to provide both the fracture position and severity to enhance transparency, interpretability and usability. © 2023 SPIE.

Europe, with all its common sights, has an enviable wealth of history and cultural heritage. With its many monuments, sites, traditions, history, art, and culture, it has always attracted curious views and tells centuries-old stories to many tourists and visitors. At the heart of Europe, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), founded in the 11th century, with its picturesque past, has always been at the crossroads of faith and civilizations. The key audience of tourism in BiH are nature lovers, adventurers and young and digital nomads, who represent great potential for the development of this sector given their nature of work, to be able to work from any location, and during the COVID-19 period. Furthermore, the importance of the diaspora for the development of tourism in BiH goes beyond tourist visits and helps BiH on its path to digital transformation. Digital tourism refers to how we use digital tools to organize, manage and even enjoy the travel experience. It uses all of the tools of digital transformation to change how we travel and experience different sites. Through digitalization, we want to reach every individual who passes through this country and further attract lovers of European history and culture, offer them a different, more creative, and innovative approach to learning about the cultural and historical treasures it hides. The goal of digital tourism is to raise awareness of the importance of cultural heritage, provide new opportunities for visitors and bring new knowledge. Therefore, this paper provides an overview of the possibilities of digital representations of the medieval historical period of BiH through identified pillars of digital reconstruction, and ways to connect the movable cultural heritage residing in the museums with real sites in an attempt to contribute to its promotion through digital tourism. © 2022 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Logic function decomposition is critical to logic synthesis. In this paper, we propose an integrated logic function decomposition flow, which consists of disjoint support decomposition, exact synthesis, Shannon decomposition, and the recently proposed majority-of-three (MAJ) decomposition. Through this process, the logic function can be decomposed into any directed acyclic graph (DAG). An experimental evaluation shows that our algorithm leads to better XOR-majority graphs (XMGs) compared to state-of-the-art algorithms. Our experiments show that the proposed method achieves an average of 5% and 6% reduction in the lookup tables (LUTs) size/depth product applied to the EPFL arithmetic and random control benchmarks after LUT mapping, respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

As a daily task, plenty of researchers submit articles to events and magazines hoping that their studies will reach more people. However, as the quantity of venues grows each day, it may be hard to know which are the best options. In the present work, an ontology-based recommender system is proposed using VIVO ontology and OpenAlex data. In this research, we evaluate medical case retrieval for AD on the bases of descriptors generated by combining different modalities (Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) markers, Fluorodeoxy-glucose Positron Emission Tomography (FDG-PET) based measures. Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) protein levels, and Apolipoprotein-E (APOE) genotype and age as risk factors). We investigated whether they would provide complementary information aiming to improve medical case retrieval for AD. According to the obtained results, we concluded that this approach outperformed the retrieval results in the current reported research by gaining MAP value of 0.98 yet providing an efficient medical case retrieval for AD and keeping low dimensional feature vector. © 2023 by SCITEPRESS – science and Technology Publications, Lda.

With the rapid proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and the ever-increasing volume of sensor data, optimizing resource utilization has become crucial for building sustainable and efficient IoT systems. In this study, we propose a novel approach for optimizing resource utilization in Green IoT through efficient storage and retrieval in vector databases. Our approach leverages specialized data structures, including k-d trees and ball trees, to achieve improved storage efficiency and accelerated retrieval performance for high-dimensional sensor data. We conducted extensive experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of our proposal, comparing it with traditional database approaches. The results demonstrate significant improvements in storage efficiency, with vector databases requiring considerably less storage space compared to traditional databases. Moreover, our approach enables fast and accurate retrieval of high-dimensional sensor data, reducing query times and enhancing real-time data analysis and decision-making capabilities. The technical achievements of our proposal offer promising prospects for the development of sustainable and efficient IoT systems in various domains, such as environmental monitoring, healthcare, and smart cities. Our work contributes to advancing the field of Green IoT by addressing the challenges of resource utilization and query performance through efficient storage and retrieval in vector databases. © 2023 IEEE.

Demand for high-density and trusted digital data storage is growing dramatically such that current storage technologies cannot deliver enough space to satisfy the requirement. Recently, DNA storage showed an excellent potential to develop the need for high-density and long-lasting storage. However, DNA storage operations are manual currently, and they should be handled by humans, making numerous errors and wasting time. This paper proposed an architecture to provide an automated and parallel environment for storing and retrieving data using DNA storage and corresponding design algorithms using the digital microfluidic biochips (DMFB). We showed how this architecture could help in making parallel operations on DNA storage. We then demonstrate how our method can get scaled for more extensive DNA storage. Experimental results show that the proposed architecture can be used efficiently for large and complicated DNA storage systems. © 2022 IEEE.

Beyond the Alphabet: Deep Signal Embedding for Enhanced DNA Clustering

The exponential growth of digital data has fueled interest in DNA as a storage medium due to its unmatched density and durability. However, clustering the billions of reads required for error correction and data reconstruction remains a major bottleneck, as traditional edit-distance-based methods are both computationally expensive and prone to data loss. This paper introduces a novel signal-model that processes raw Nanopore signals, bypassing the error-prone basecalling step. By directly leveraging analog signal information, the signal-model reduces computation time by up to three orders of magnitude compared to edit-distance approaches, while delivering superior accuracy. It also outperforms DNA sequence embedding methods in both accuracy and efficiency. Furthermore, our experiments show that the signal-model achieves higher clustering accuracy than existing strand-based algorithms, saving days of computation without compromising quality. Overall, this work represents a significant breakthrough in DNA data storage, highlighting how signal-based analysis can drastically improve both accuracy and scalability. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.
