To evaluate performance of a large scale digital system, the system is modeled by stochastic timed petri nets (STPN) and performance index is estimated through iteration of a petri net simulation. When the performance evaluation is carried out in a large distributed environment, parallel calculation with incidence matrices of STPN can make the petri net simulation more efficient. In this paper, we proposed an ordering method of incidence matrices to reduce the communication costs in the parallel calculation of matrix operations. For this purpose, we first proposed a method for blocking the incidence matrices based on a structure of a system by considering synchronous and asynchronous buses as composing elements. We also proposed a method for converting sub-matrices of incidence matrices to band matrices. This method is based on the bread first search of STPN represented by the sub-matrices. Finally, we demonstrated an effect of the ordering on the time for performance evaluation by carrying out the performance evaluation using incidence matrices generated by the proposed method. In addition, we showed that the ordering method could reduce the communication costs in a large distributed environment by estimating the use rate of calculation nodes. © 2014 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

An architecture design of the intelligent agent for speech recognition and translation is presented in this paper. The design involves the agent architecture and the method of the agent is used. The architecture design will show the relationship between the intelligent agent and speech recognition also translation. The intelligent agent for speech recognition is called S - AGENT and T- AGENT for translation. The purpose of the S - AGENT is to facilitate for transmitting the speech data via internet or network. The S - AGENT is acting as a data transmit control to ensure the transmitted speech data will secure delivered The task of the T - AGENT is different from the S - AGENT. The T - AGENT is acting as information retrieval. It will process the output from the speech recognition and translates the output based on its information memory database. If the information cannot be found on its memory, it will search the information required from the database dictionary provided. At the same time, it learns the information and saves the information to its memory for the future purposed © 2004IEEE.

Requirements traceability is becoming increasingly significant element in software engineering. It provides critical function in the development and maintenance of a software system. From the software evolution point of view, requirements traceability plays an important role in facilitating software evolution. Since the evolution is inevitable, a traceability approach must take as much as possible the important influencing aspects into account to the evolution processes in order to minimize the evolution efforts. This paper evaluates several recent traceability approaches published in literature with the focus on their contributions to software evolution. The evaluation results may be used as a basis for improving requirements traceability approaches that may simplify the software evolution tasks. © 2007 IEEE.

We present the results of a data mining research on the use of GPS positions and speed of travel of vehicles in urban areas to determine optimal travel routes for emergency vehicles. A new approach using predictive programming is presented. The approach focuses on using data mining of existing data as the key factor in the application logic where various decisions are to be made. The main appeal of such an approach is that the application logic evolves over time according to the application data. As the data changes the decisions soon follow. The lungs are one of the organs of the body that are responsible for the human respiratory process and are very susceptible to dangerous diseases. For this reason, early detection and diagnosis of lung organs is needed, one of which is through examination of Chest X-Ray (CXR) images. Examination of the results of CXR images is still done manually by doctors and radiologists, this requires time and high accuracy. To facilitate the examination, it is necessary to image quality enhancement in order to get better image quality results so as to produce an accurate diagnosis. The initial stage in this research is to apply the contour improvement technique to the image using Morphology Opening, and followed by noise reduction using Median Filter and Gaussian filter. The results of the two methods of noise reduction are compared with the results of image quality in order to find out the best method that can be applied. The implementation of image quality enhancement results was measured quantitatively using Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR), Mean Square Error (MSE), and Structural Similarity Index Metrics (SSIM). In the Morphology Opening and Median Filter methods, the values obtained are 39.187, 22.252, and 0.952, respectively. Meanwhile, the Morphology Opening and Gaussian Filter methods obtained values of 38.717, 23.917 and 0.956. Based on these results, it can be concluded that both methods are able to improve image quality well. © 2022 IEEE.

The Google Play platform boasts a total of 2,597,819 applications. A pivotal gauge of an application's success rests on its practical utility in daily life, coupled with its demonstrated strong performance metrics. There are several performance metrics to evaluate the performance of an application, such as RAM usage, CPU utilization, and their impact on battery life. Additionally, it is crucial to consider the User Interface (UI) factor, which serves as the primary connection between users and applications. Beyond its role as a bridge between users and applications, the UI can also significantly affect the performance of an application, as rendering a UI often takes a considerable amount of time. Various approaches can be employed to enhance the rendering time of a UI, one of which involves the use of design patterns like Model-View-Controller (MVC) and Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM), which effectively separate the business logic from the UI layer. This research study compares the performance of these two design patterns in the context of UI rendering time. The findings of this study confirm that MVVM outperforms MVC significantly in rendering UI components more rapidly. This superiority is attributed to MVVM's inherent ability to isolate business logic, ultimately reducing rendering delays. Furthermore, MVVM's prominent data binding feature further strengthens its efficiency in terms of UI rendering time. © 2023 ACM.

A study of uniform approximation of equivalent permittivity for index modulated gratings

It is well known that surface-relief dielectric gratings with rectangular profile can be treated by uniform approximation of equivalent permittivity when the periodicity is very small compared with a wavelength. In optics, this phenomenon is the equivalent anisotropic effects or the form birefringence. When the periodicity is very small, the equivalent anisotropic effects will be shown in index modulated gratings. In this paper, the uniform approximation is described for electromagnetic scattering problem by index modulated gratings. Scattering properties by dielectric slabs are calculated by transmission-line theory and the equivalent permittivity obtained from our proposed formulation of uniform approximation. Scattering by index modulated gratings are analyzed rigorously by the matrix eigenvalue calculations by using Fourier expansion method and the spatial harmonics expansions. When the periodicity is small, both results are in good agreement. By investigating the difference between the equivalent permittivity and the numerical values corresponding to the permittivity of index modulated gratings, the applicable condition of the uniform approximation is shown. And the equivalent anisotropic effects of various permittivity profiles are compared.

Text mining is solution to extract information from textual data sources that are usually in bulky quantities, messy and disorganized. Dealing with this situation needs to deploy innovative methods and techniques. In this paper, we identify the current heavily used methods for biomedical text mining, their capabilities and developments, some proposed solution and how to evaluate performance. In this paper,we combine decision fusion methods with four metaheuristic algorithms(Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO)algorithm,Cuckoo search algorithm,modification of Cuckoo Search(CS McCulloch)algorithm and Genetic algorithm)in order to improve the image *** proposed technique based on fusing the data from Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO),Cuckoo search,modification of Cuckoo Search(CS McCulloch)and Genetic algorithms are obtained for improving magnetic resonance images(MRIs)*** algorithms are used to compute the accuracy of each method while the outputs are passed to fusion *** order to obtain parts of the points that determine similar membership values,we apply the different rules of incorporation for these *** proposed approach is applied to challenging applications:MRI images,gray matter/white matter of brain segmentations and original black/white images Behavior of the proposed algorithm is provided by applying to different medical *** is shown that the proposed method gives accurate results;due to the decision fusion produces the greatest improvement in classification accuracy.
