This paper proposes a method which gives a state space realization of the linear systems with algebraic loops not only in numerical format but also in symbolic format and guarantees that the order of the system is preserved. The method uses an adjacency matrix in graph theory for the modeling of the control systems and uses the matrix inversion lemma to calculate the inverse of matrix symbolically and to obtain the symbolic state space realizations. We have developed a new software platform for modeling and simulation of control systems using the proposed method.

We are investigating the logistic map over integers with finite precisions and sequences out-putted by the iterative mapping. In our proposed simple pseudo-random number generator with the logistic map over integers, we implicitly assumed that 0 and 1 occurrence frequencies per bit of outputs by the map are nearly equal. By some numerical experiments, we got the conjecture that occurrence rates per bit are nearly equal for many bits of 2n-bit values in the intermediate step of the map by one iteration and many iterations.

The effect of strong magnetic fields on activities of yeast cells were investigated. Experimental yeast cells were cultured in 5 ml of YPD(Yeast extract Peptone Dextrose) for the number density of yeast cells of 5.0 ±0.2 x 106/ml with various temperatures and magnetic fields up to 10 T. Since the yeast cells were placed in the center of the superconducting magnet, the effect of magnetic force due to the diamagnetism and magnetic gradient was negligibly small. The yeast suspension was opened to air and cultured in shaking condition. The number of yeast cells in the yeast suspension was counted by a counting plate with an optical microscope, and the time dependence of the number density of yeast cells was measured. The time dependence of the number density of yeast cells, ρ, of initial part is analyzed in terms of Malthus equation as given by ρ = ρo exp(kt), where k is the growth coefficient. It is found that, the growth coefficient under the magnetic field is suppressed compared with the control. The growth coefficient decreasing as increasing magnetic field and is saturated at about 5 T. On the other hand, it is found that the suppression of growth of yeast cells by the magnetic field is diminished at high temperatures.

Laser surface modification method for pure titanium plate was performed using nitrogen gas as a shielding gas. The laser fusion layer obtained was investigated using the metallurgical analysis, a hardness test and an abrasion test. In the microstructure of the laser fusion layer, primary dendrite of TiN and eutectics composed of Ti and TiN were observed regardless of shielding gas flow rate. The Vickers hardness of the laser fusion layer increased with the increase in the shielding gas flow rate, and the laser fusion layer had the maximum Vickers hardness number of 1040 HV when a shielding gas flow rate was 40 L/min. As the abrasion property of the laser fusion layer in the shielding gas flow rate of 20 L/min was compared with that of the base metal TP270H, the wearing width of the laser fusion layer was decreased 50% below that of the base metal. In addition, the wear coefficient of the laser fusion layer became about 17% in comparison with that of the base metal.

Aspect-oriented programming (AOP) has the good characteristic called obliviousness that enables a programmer to design a class without considering crosscutting concerns. On the other hand, it is not necessarily easy for the programmer to know the overall behavior of a woven program because weaving modifies the behavior of a method denned in a class. Unexpected errors might be embedded in the woven program. To tackle this problem, we propose WbC (Weaving by Contract), a technique for verifying the correctness of weaving based on contracts. Contracts in WbC consist of pre-conditions, post-conditions, and invariants of weaving. By introducing WbC, we can specify how a program should behave before and after weaving. We also provide a language called COW (COntracl Writing language) for supporting WbC. In COW, a programmer describes contracts by predicate logic that represents the behavior of a program as a property of control and data flow. WbC can restrict weaving to keep the intention of the programmer.

Shortening the product development time and reducing the cost have become very important issues in these days. The SLS technology contributes to these demands. In addition, the efficiency of material use is high, as SLS consumes only necessary amount of material. However, if it is not maintained properly, the material deterioration advances, finally, the recycled material causes a defective molding. In this case, we have to perform re-molding. This causes the delay of the development schedule. The prediction method of deterioration in the material for SLS should be discussed and studied. In this paper, fundamental experiment on the material degradation is conducted. The theoretical analysis of the degree of deterioration of material and the prediction method is discussed.

The correlation properties of fractal speckle distributions arising from superposition of three speckle waves propagating perpendicularly to one another are studied theoretically. The analytical expressions are derived for the intensity correlation of the superposed speckle fields, and the theoretical results are verified by means of computer simulations. It is shown that the spatial anisotropy of speckle patterns exists even when the three speckle waves are interfered with one another. This spatial anisotropy affects the power law distribution of intensity correlations for fractal speckles, leading to the speckle pattern which is not self-similar in two or three dimensions. As an application of the superposed speckle field, a method to fabricate a disordered medium by illuminating photopolymer with multiple laser speckle waves is proposed. Some preliminary experimental results are shown.
