Interfacial two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG), especially the SrTiO3-based ones at the unexpected interface of insulators, have emerged to be a promising candidate for efficient charge-spin current interconversion. In this article, to gain insight into the mechanism of the charge-spin current interconversion at the oxide-based 2DEG, we focused on conducting interfaces between insulating SrTiO3 and two types of aluminium-based amorphous insulators, namely SrTiO3/AlN and SrTiO3/Al2O3, and estimated their charge-spin conversion efficiency, θcs. The two types of amorphous insulators were selected to explicitly probe the overlooked contribution of oxygen vacancy to the θcs. We proposed a mechanism to explain results of spin-torque ferromagnetic resonance (ST-FMR) measurements and developed an analysis protocol to reliably estimate the θcs of the oxide based 2DEG. The resultant θcs/t, where t is the thickness of the 2DEG, were estimated to be 0.244 nm-1 and 0.101 nm-1 for the SrTiO3/AlN and SrTiO3/Al2O3, respectively, and they are strikingly comparable to their crystalline counterparts. Furthermore, we also observe a large direct current modulation of resonance linewidth in SrTiO3/AlN samples, confirming its high θcs and attesting an oxygen-vacancy-enabled charge-spin conversion. Our findings emphasize the defects' contribution to the charge-spin interconversion, especially in the oxide-based low dimensional systems, and provide a way to create and enhance charge-spin interconversion via defect engineering. This study addresses the challenge of fleet design optimization in the context of heterogeneous multi-robot fleets, aiming to obtain feasible designs that balance performance and costs. In the domain of autonomous multi-robot exploration, reinforcement learning agents play a central role, offering adaptability to complex terrains and facilitating collaboration among robots. However, modifying the fleet composition results in changes in the learned behavior, and training multi-robot systems using multi-agent reinforcement learning is expensive. Therefore, an exhaustive evaluation of each potential fleet design is infeasible. To tackle these hurdles, we introduce Bayesian Optimization for Fleet Design (BOFD), a framework leveraging multiobjective Bayesian Optimization to explore fleets on the Pareto front of performance and cost while accounting for uncertainty in the design space. Moreover, we establish a sub-linear bound for cumulative regret, supporting BOFD’s robustness and efficacy. Extensive benchmark experiments in synthetic and simulated environments demonstrate the superiority of our framework over state-of-the-art methods, achieving efficient fleet designs with minimal fleet evaluations. Formation of grid patterns in an ac-driven electroconvection system

We report the formation mechanism of a unique pattern observed in ac-driven electroconvection of nematic liquid crystals (NLCs), in which many well-organized grid cells are very regularly aggregated in a two-dimensional plane, globally forming a nearly perfect grid pattern (GP). Intuitively, the formation of such a pattern is unpredictable; usually, the perfectly regular normal roll (NR) showing a preferred roll direction is observed in this system by imposing a fixed initial direction of an NLC. The GP was investigated by varying the ac voltage and frequency. To characterize the GP, the density ρGP, the width a and length b of the grids, and the oscillation period TGP of an inner optical pattern of the grids were measured; moreover, the lengths L¯x and L¯y characterizing phase-jump lines (PJLs) in the GP were examined. By taking into account the process of evolution from a fluctuating NR with defects to the GP, the velocity and director fields of the GP are estimated. Furthermore, in comparison with the bimodal mechanism proposed in the earlier study, a possible mechanism for the GP formed by the PJLs is discussed; various routes to GPs depending on the ac frequency are proposed.

Femtosecond laser-induced photoexcitation of ferromagnet (FM)/heavy metal (HM) heterostructures have attracted attention by emitting broadband terahertz frequencies. The phenomenon relies on the formation of ultrafast spin current, which is largely attributed to the direct photoexcitation of the FM layer. However, we reveal that during the process, the FM layer also experiences a secondary excitation led by the hot electrons from the HM layer that travel across the FM/HM interface and transfer additional energy in the FM. Thus, the generated secondary spins enhance the total spin current formation and lead to amplified spintronic terahertz emission. The results also emphasize the significance of the secondary spin current, which even exceeds the primary spin currents when FM/HM heterostructures with thicker HM are used. An analytical model is developed to provide deeper insights into the microscopic processes within the individual layers, underlining the generalized ultrafast superdiffusive spin-transport mechanism. In contrast to fault diagnosis relying solely on a single sensor, the method of multi-sensor information fusion for fault diagnosis (MSIFFD) broadens the spectrum of available information sources. It is renowned for its high accuracy and reliability, traits that have attracted growing attention within the research community and led to the generation of a substantial body of publications. However, there is currently a lack of a comprehensive and systematic review in this domain. Thereby, this review aims to thoroughly explore all research achievements in the field of MSIFFD. At the outset, an analysis is undertaken to delineate the fusion level of multi-sensor information, with a specific focus on its location and types of inputs and outputs within the information flow. Subsequently, an examination of the six primary fundamental operations for amalgamating multi-sensor information is undertaken to clarify the motivations and processes involved in information fusion across various operations. Following this, factors influencing fusion diagnostics and strategies aimed at improving their performance are examined to explore approaches for enhancing fusion accuracy. The subsequent sections delve into the analysis of sensor types and application scenarios, providing a reference guide for practical applications. Finally, this review outlines potential future challenges in the field of MSIFFD and provides a range of recommendations and possible solutions for consideration. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

This paper presents one project on integrating digital innovation in faculty development by creating academic portfolios. Academic portfolios document the multifaceted achievements of faculty members and help them in their professional progress and self-evaluation. This initiative adopted a systematic approach following the TU guidelines, incorporating lectures, mentoring, and collaborative sessions, and guiding educators to create portfolios that integrate teaching, research, and service activities. The project’s use of digital tools enabled time efficiency, accessibility, and iterative improvement and improved the transparency and scope of faculty performance. The digital platform also facilitated real-time feedback and integration of the portfolio with a wider digital repository, which aligns with environmentally sustainable practices. Participant feedback highlighted increased motivation and a deeper understanding of the interaction between teaching and research. The project demonstrated that the digital portfolio powerfully aligned teachers’ activities with their professional ethos and promoted continuous development and personal growth goals. This approach suggests the potential for transforming faculty development in the academic community.

We propose an evolutionary algorithm inspired by evolution of birdsong grammars. The proposed algorithm is designed to quickly obtain practical solutions to large-scaled problems. The main mechanism for obtaining practical solutions quickly is to represent solution candidates in a compact way using grammars, that is to say, to make the search space smaller than the original one using grammars. Also, we apply the algorithm to a large-scaled OneMax problem and its variants. The simulation results show that the algorithm tends to quickly produce solution candidates with simple bit patterns and with not so bad fitness values for large-scaled problems as a bit pattern of the global optimum becomes more random. That can be considered as that practical solutions to large-scaled problems are obtained quickly. It is also shown that when the problem size is smaller, the algorithm tends to produce a precise bit pattern of the global optimum.

With the rapid development of the satellite industry, the information transmission network based on communication satellites has gradually become a major and important part of the future satellite ground integration network. However, the low transmission efficiency of the satellite data relay back mission has become a problem that is currently constraining the construction of the system and needs to be solved urgently. Effectively planning the task of satellite ground networking by reasonably scheduling resources is crucial for the efficient transmission of task data. In this paper, we hope to provide a task execution scheme that maximizes the profit of the networking task for satellite ground network planning considering feeding mode (SGNPFM). To solve the SGNPFM problem, a mixed-integer planning model with the objective of maximizing the gain of the link-building task is constructed, which considers various constraints of the satellite in the feed-switching mode. Based on the problem characteristics, we propose a distance similarity-based genetic optimization algorithm (DSGA), which considers the state characteristics between the tasks and introduces a weighted Euclidean distance method to determine the similarity between the tasks. To obtain more high-quality solutions, different similarity evaluation methods are designed to assist the algorithm in intelligently screening individuals. The DSGAalso uses an adaptive crossover strategy based on similarity mechanism, which guides the algorithm to achieve efficient population search. In addition, a task scheduling algorithm considering the feed-switching mode is designed for decoding the algorithm to generate a highquality scheme. The results of simulation experiments show that the DSGA can effectively solve the SGNPFM problem. The Markov chain based model by Bianchi for IEEE802.11 distributed controlled access is a highly accurate analytical tool for estimating the system throughput when a single Basic Service Set (BSS) network operates in isolation. However, with the increase of wireless LAN access points being deployed on the same area, an environment with multiple BSS interfering with each other has become the default network scenario. The purpose of this work is to extend the single BSS Markov chain model into a multi-BSS model by incorporating the influence of STAs' interference range and carrier sense range to their own transmission and collision probabilities. We verify the proposed multi-BSS analytical model using the latest version of the ns-3 simulator which has recently supported accurate PHY abstractions for multi-BSS simulation. We show that the proposed model has a high accuracy (within 1%) independent of the multi-BSS network topology.

Sasirangan cloth is one of the traditional cloths owned by Indonesia and is a typical cloth originating from the province of South Kalimantan. This Sasirangan cloth has many motifs and is unique. Sasirangan cloth is also one of the potentials that can attract local and foreign tourists to visit South Kalimantan. However, in recent years, tourist visits to South Kalimantan have decreased due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Then it also has an impact on the delay in the implementation of the Banjarmasin Sasirangan Festival which is usually held annually. The next impact is a decrease in turnover and interest in shopping for Sasirangan cloth, so that employees who work for Sasirangan cloth craftsmen are dismissed and reduce people's income. So the purpose of this study is to report the results of the development of a Virtual Reality Game application called VR-SasiranganKu by integrating the interaction of Non-Player Character (NPC) behavior with the type of narrative in the simulation genre game. VR-SasiranganKu is recommended to introduce and at the same time promote Sasirangan cloth to users, then justify the reaction to knowledge and shopping experience, and evaluate user experience using the UX Honeycomb method. Respondents involved as many as 100 people who are local and national tourists. The results show that the interaction of NPC behavior can provide good direction to users regarding the introduction of Sasirangan cloth by presenting an appropriate interaction design based on the narrative and the theme of the NPC that has been adopted, the results of justification using VR-SasiranganKu can provide knowledge reaction and very good shopping experience, and based on user experience evaluation that VR-SasiranganKu has adopted a very good UX with an average score of 4.91.
