Summary Background Across low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), one in ten deaths in children younger than 5 years is attributable to diarrhoea. The substantial between-country variation in both diarrhoea incidence and mortality is attributable to interventions that protect children, prevent infection, and treat disease. Identifying subnational regions with the highest burden and mapping associated risk factors can aid in reducing preventable childhood *** We used Bayesian model-based geostatistics and a geolocated dataset comprising 15 072 746 children younger than 5 years from 466 surveys in 94 LMICs, in combination with findings of the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2017, to estimate posterior distributions of diarrhoea prevalence, incidence, and mortality from 2000 to 2017. From these data, we estimated the burden of diarrhoea at varying subnational levels (termed units) by spatially aggregating draws, and we investigated the drivers of subnational patterns by creating aggregated risk factor *** The greatest declines in diarrhoeal mortality were seen in south and southeast Asia and South America, where 54·0% (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 38·1-65·8), 17·4% (7·7-28·4), and 59·5% (34·2-86·9) of units, respectively, recorded decreases in deaths from diarrhoea greater than 10%. Although children in much of Africa remain at high risk of death due to diarrhoea, regions with the most deaths were outside Africa, with the highest mortality units located in Pakistan. Indonesia showed the greatest within-country geographical inequality; some regions had mortality rates nearly four times the average country rate. Reductions in mortality were correlated to improvements in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) or reductions in child growth failure (CGF). Internet of Things is a new trend outside traditional computing devices which are connected to the Internet whereby linking small and efficient embedded computing to a web-platform, thereby creating a new world of connected devices. Internet of Things (IoT) concentrates on the fact that the “things” that surround us can generate data which can be collected and analyzed by providing a gateway between the things and the Internet, thus offering live data acquisition and control. This paper introduces mruby which is a scripting programming language to connect with IoT based Web-platform contemporary to C programming language for embedded systems. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of mruby when connected to the cloud.

Hypertension or high blood pressure can cause damage of blood vessels in the retina of eye called hypertensive retinopathy (HR). In the event Hypertension, it will cause swelling blood vessels and a decrese in retina performance. To detect HR in patients body, it is usually performed through physical examination of opthalmoscope which is still conducted manually by an ophthalmologist. Certainly, in such a manual manner, takes a ong time for a doctor to detetct HR on aa patient based on retina fundus iamge. To overcome ths problem, a method is needed to identify the image of retinal fundus automatically. In this research, backpropagation neural network was used as a method for retinal fundus identification. The steps performed prior to identification were pre-processing (green channel, contrast limited adapative histogram qualization (CLAHE), morphological close, background exclusion, thresholding and connected component analysis), feature extraction using zoning. The results show that the proposed method is able to identify retinal fundus with an accuracy of 95% with maximum epoch of 1500.

Random access Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA), a method for uplink multi-user transmission (UL-MU) for STAs with unknown transmit buffer has been adopted in the upcoming IEEE802.11ax next generation wireless LAN standard. In this paper, we propose a performance analysis model which use bidimensional Markov chain model of OFDMA random access. Via computer simulation, we show the usefulness of the proposed method even in the case of dense environment. In addition, we present a method in calculating the optimal number of resource units, which in 802.11ax refer to a subset of subcarriers to assign the user for OFDMA random access from numerical results.

In the present study, we examine the foraging behavior of the fruit fly (Drosophila), which unlike social insects, independently and autonomously forages. Moreover, we propose a new population-based, non-swarm intelligence search algorithm that mimics the foraging behaviors of fruit flies. We find that the time that a fruit fly stays in a food source region follows a power-law. A power-law distribution satisfies the scale-free property, so the observed behaviors of fruit flies can be called scale-free behaviors, which are modeled by the proposed algorithm. We examine the effect of scale-free behaviors on search performance by applying the proposed algorithm to 28 test functions with two real parameters. The results reveal that the scale-free property is related to a balance between exploration and exploitation and affects the search performance. Moreover, particular parameter values for fixing the scale-free property yield a better search performance for most of the test functions considered herein. The present paper does not provide a competent search algorithm for solving static optimization problems, but rather introduces a novel temporal property of individual behaviors, i.e., a scale-free property, which is expected to provide a new way to think about search algorithms.

In the orthognathic surgery, dental splints are important and necessary to help the surgeon reposition the maxilla or mandible. However, the traditional methods of manual design of dental splints are difficult and time-consuming. The research on computer-aided design software for dental splints is rarely reported. Our purpose is to develop a novel special software named EasySplint to design the dental splints conveniently and efficiently. The design can be divided into two steps, which are the generation of initial splint base and the Boolean operation between it and the maxilla-mandibular model. The initial splint base is formed by ruled surfaces reconstructed using the manually picked points. Then, a method to accomplish Boolean operation based on the distance filed of two meshes is proposed. The interference elimination can be conducted on the basis of marching cubes algorithm and Boolean operation. The accuracy of the dental splint can be guaranteed since the original mesh is utilized to form the result surface. Using EasySplint, the dental splints can be designed in about 10 minutes and saved as a stereo lithography (STL) file for 3D printing in clinical applications. In next generation wireless LAN standard which is called IEEE802.11ax, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) random access has been adopted as an uplink multi-user transmission technology. In this paper, we propose an adaptive backoff algorithm for OFDMA random access. Due to the finite service period defined by the standard, random access OFDMA sessions are discontinuous in time which may result in performance degradation when naive implementations are performed. Via computer simulations, we show that near maximum throughput is consistently achieved even in the case of dense environment. In addition, we explain a method for accurately estimating the number of OFDMA random access users, a key parameter in the proposed adaptive method.

Nowadays, since urban planning and landscape simulations are required to get the "characteristics" of target buildings, especially in structures, the reconstruction of 3D building models, necessary for visualization on a computer, becomes crucial. In 3D landscape modeling, a 3D building model that can well represent reality is always the upmost goal. We have already proposed an automatic extraction method of individual building wall points from a Mobile Mapping system (MMS) data. During the process called "plane extraction" to extract multiple planes, a method called RANSAC has been used. However, it is time-consuming to ensure that planes of all walls are extracted. The reason of this problem is the inlier ratio becomes lower as the process goes on. In this paper, we propose a more efficient method which groups the point cloud of a building into "wall groups" based on building structure to increase the inlier ratio. We show that the execution time of our grouping method is about seven times faster than the previous one.
